Jason Momoa must unite the Kingdom Of Hawaii to save it in Chief Of War trailer
Since at least 2022, Jason Momoa has been teasing his next Apple TV+ show Chief Of War, and his project is almost, finally out in the world. This morning, the streamer shared the first full trailer for the series, which depicts the series' main conflict in new detail. Colonists from the western world arrive in Hawaii and begin doing damage almost immediately, hacking the native flora with axes. Before Ka'iana (Momoa) can try to send them packing, however, he must unite the Hawaiian Islands into the Kingdom Of Hawaii. Momoa created the series with Thomas Pa'a Sibbett, who, per a press release, also shares native Hawaiian heritage. The Aquaman star also wrote and produced the series, which marks a first for him on television. (Momoa has lent his pen to film projects like The Road To Paloma and Aquaman: The Last Kingdom.) The rest of the cast, which includes actors Temuera Morrison, Luciane Buchanan, Te Ao o Hinepehinga, Cliff Curtis, newcomer Kaina Makua, is predominantly Polynesian (excepting, most likely, the actors playing the colonists). The series will also feature a significant amount of dialogue spoken in the Hawaiian language, which Sibbett described as 'something from the beginning that was really important for us' in an interview with GQ earlier this year. 'We just didn't know if it was something that anybody would ever do. But the truth is, for us, even though this is a true story, it feels like a world-building show. It feels like we're presenting something that's been unseen, and people don't know much about it.' Learning the language, Momoa said, had the added benefit of making him realize he had been sort of mumbling his entire life. 'It's so much more involved with the mouth,' he explained. 'And Olelo Hawaiian is the most beautiful language, it was just really hard for my mouth to move that way. But I busted my ass.' Chief Of War premieres on Apple TV+ on August 1. New episodes will arrive weekly through September 19. More from A.V. Star Wars' Temuera Morrison Is Still Waiting For More Of The Book Of Boba Fett, But I'm More Focused On His Pitch For Ahsoka Season 2
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. It's been a little while since Star Wars fans last saw the titular character of The Book of Boba Fett, which ran for a single season from 2021 to 2022. The former bounter solidified his position as the daimyo of Mos Espa and was overseeing the spaceport alongside Fennic Shand. At this point, it seems that the BoBF will remain a miniseries, but its lead actor, Temuera Morrison, isn't giving up hope that the show will return. Aside from that, Morrison is also pitching himself for Ahsoka Season 2, and I dig the idea he has. Since he portrayed the role of Jango Fett in Attack of the Clones over two decades ago, Temuera Morrison has been incredibly passionate about his bounty hunter characters. So it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that during an interview with Collider, he expressed disappointment over the fact that Boba's show has not returned. Overall, it seems the lack of a second season and the fact that a fellow 'Mando-verse' show is returning isn't lost on Morrison: I'm sad too. Where The Book of Boba Fett Season 2? Where the hell is Season 2? I know they're doing Ahsoka Season 2. I'm going, 'Ah, where's my Season 2? More on Ahsoka 'That Would Be Canon, Right?': Skeleton Crew's Ravi Cabot-Conyers Wants A Crossover With Ahsoka, And Tells A Cool Story About Meeting Rosario Dawson From a critical standpoint, Book of Boba Fett proved to be one of the more divisive entries in the expansive science-fiction franchise. It did receive praise for its action as well as the performance of its leading man. However, the show was also criticized for its pacing, use of Star Wars tropes and inclusion of significant storylines related to other TV properties. For instance, the show notably marked the reunion of Din Djarin and Grogu of The Mandalorian, which was viewed as odd by some viewers. Nevertheless, reports on Fett's viewership suggested it was successful amongst viewers. Honestly, I'd be curious to see what EPs Dave Filoni, Jon Favreau and Robert Rodriguez would do with an additional season of the Boba-centric show. However, in the meantime, I can't stop thinking about the suggestion Temuera Morrison floated for Ahsoka's second season: I'm trying to ring them up. Can I be Rex and take his helmet off, please? Considering that all of the clone troopers, including Captain Rex, were developed from Jango Fett's DNA (like Boba), Temuera Morrison could absolutely appear on Ahsoka. Morrison even briefly cameos as a homeless trooper on an episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi. In terms of the Ahsoka Tano series, it would make sense for Rex to appear. At this point, it's fair to say that the show is – in many ways – a follow-up to the animated series Star Wars Rebels, on which Rex is an ally of the Ghost crew and Tano. If that doesn't float your boat, try the ad-free option, which costs $15.99 a month. There's also the annual subscription, which costs $159.99 and provides a savings of up to 16%.View Deal I'm definitely one of those SW fans who's become somewhat weary due to the franchise's over-reliance on nostalgia. With that said, given how far Ahsoka has already fallen down that rabbit hole, I say why not just have Temuera Morrison appear at Rex. It may not be out of the realm of possibility, though plot details are scarce right now. Whatever the case, I'm just hopeful that there's an opportunity for Morrison to return to the fold at some point. Check out both The Book of Boba Fett and Ahsoka's first season on Disney+. In the meantime, read up on upcoming Star Wars movies and TV shows.

Temuera Morrison Thinks ‘Star Wars' Isn't Done With Boba Fett Yet
Just when The Mandalorian brought him back and teased big things for him, Boba Fett got kind of a raw deal once his own show dropped. Disney's not given it a second season or even so much as mentioned it, to the point just last year, star Temuera Morrison was unsure about his character's future. But maybe things are at a point to where it could be his time once more? While promoting his current film Ka Whawhai Tonu (In The Fire of War), Collider asked Morrison what the deal was. Along with going 'where's my season 2?,' he suggested coming in for Ahsoka's second season to play an older version of Ahsoka's clone trooper buddy Rex. More interestingly, he mentioned seeing Mandalorian co-creators Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau at Star Wars Celebration, where they had a group hug and he thanked them for letting him come back as Boba Fett. Morrison then teased the pair 'didn't want to say too much, but they just left it at that.' Whatever that means, the actor likens his and the bounty hunter's stasis as going to your grandmother's and seeing 'that preservative jar of peaches up on the shelf. I'm one of those peaches, and I've been put up on the shelf. I've been preserved for a later date, and I'm going to be tastier.' To support Morrison's point, there's a few Favreau and Filoni-adjacent avenues for him to return, including another animated anthology miniseries or next year's Maul: Shadow Lord series. Even if he doesn't make it into Ahsoka's next season or whatever Mandalorian & Grogu ends up, we're likely to see the actor or Boba back sooner or later.
