The Artful Dodger Season 2: Release date speculation, cast and plot details – Everything we know so far

By Aman Shukla Published on July 14, 2025, 18:30 IST Last updated July 14, 2025, 11:56 IST If you're as hooked on The Artful Dodger as we are, you're probably itching to know what's next for Jack Dawkins, Belle Fox, and the ever-scheming Fagin. The good news? Season 2 is officially happening, and it's shaping up to be another wild ride. From release date guesses to cast updates and plot teases, here's everything we've pieced together about The Artful Dodger Season 2. The Artful Dodger Season 2 Release Date Speculation So, here's the deal: Disney+ and Hulu are keeping us on our toes with no official release date yet. But we've got some breadcrumbs to follow. The first season dazzled us on November 29, 2023, and word got out in November 2024 that Season 2 was a go. Filming started in February 2025 at Sydney's Callan Park—gorgeous spot, by the way—and wrapped up around May 2025, according to some excited X posts from fans and crew. If we look at Season 1's timeline—about five months of filming followed by a release six months later—we're likely looking at a premiere sometime between late 2025 and mid-2026. Our bet? Disney+ loves a big holiday release, so November or December 2025 feels like a safe guess. Or maybe they'll surprise us with an early 2026 drop. Either way, keep your eyes peeled for an official announcement! Who's Back for Season 2? The chemistry between the main cast was a highlight of Season 1, and fans will be thrilled to hear that the core trio is returning for Season 2: Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Jack Dawkins, aka The Artful Dodger, the charming former pickpocket now navigating life as a skilled surgeon. Maia Mitchell as Lady Belle Fox, the governor's daughter with ambitions to become the colony's first female surgeon and Jack's love interest. David Thewlis as Norbert Fagin, the cunning criminal mastermind from Jack's past who keeps pulling him back into a life of crime. In addition to the leading trio, expect to see familiar faces from the Port Victory ensemble, including: Damien Garvey as Governor Edmund Fox, Belle's father. Susie Porter as Lady Jane Fox, Belle's mother. Damon Herriman as Captain Lucien Gaines, the commander of the colony's soldiers. New cast members are also joining the show, adding fresh dynamics to the story. Confirmed additions include: Luke Bracey as Inspector Henry Boxer. Jeremy Sims as Uncle Dickie. Zac Burgess as Phineas Golden. What to Expect from The Artful Dodger Season 2 Plot If you're still reeling from Season 1's finale (no spoilers if you haven't caught up!), let's just say it left us on the edge of our seats. Jack's in hot water, Fagin's up to his usual tricks, and Belle's ready to fight for what she believes in. Here's what we're expecting in Season 2: Jack's Next Move : After that gut-punch ending, Jack's got to navigate some serious trouble. Will he clear his name and keep his surgeon's coat, or will his dodgy past drag him down? His knack for getting out of tight spots will definitely be tested. Fagin's Games : Fagin's always got an ace up his sleeve. With his new status in the colony, he'll likely cook up more heists, but his loyalty to Jack could spark some juicy tension. New Faces, New Trouble: The addition of characters like Inspector Boxer and Uncle Dickie hints at fresh conflicts. Will they be allies or enemies? We can't wait to find out. The show's signature mix of clever heists, life-or-death surgeries, and cheeky humor will keep us glued to our screens. Plus, that 1850s Australian vibe—gritty, colorful, and full of surprises—makes it unlike any other period drama out there. Ahmedabad Plane Crash Aman Shukla is a post-graduate in mass communication . UK viewers can finally watch season 2 of 'compelling' Australian thriller

Following it's 'satisfyingly explosive' first season finale, the second season of Scrublands is now streaming in the UK. The Australian series was based on the debut novel of the same name by journalist Chris Hammer. The first season, which was released in 2023, follows journalist Martin Scarsden (Luke Arnold) as he investigates what he initially thinks is a straightforward story about a small town a year on from a tragedy. But as he digs deeper to discover the details of what actually happened after a priest shot dead five parishioners, Martin faces local residents who do their best to block him from finding out about their secrets. Running across four episodes, the series was praised by critics and viewers. The Guardian called it a 'rock-solid addition to the rural noir genre, engaging from the start, all the way to a satisfyingly explosive finale.' Earlier this year the four new episodes dropped in Australia. This week they were released on BBC iPlayer, with both seasons now available to binge for free. Scrublands: Silver, which is based on Hammer's second novel of the same name, follows Martin as he tries to uncover the truth behind a crime that 'shatters his own world' when his childhood friend, Jasper, is found brutally murdered. However, things get incredibly complicated when Martin's partner Mandy Bond (played by Bella Heathcote), then becomes the prime suspect. It's been teased: 'As Martin races to uncover the truth and clear Mandy's name, he's forced to confront the darker side of his hometown Port Silver and the secrets lurking within his own past. Can he trust Mandy? And can he trust himself?' The second season also stars Luke Carroll (The Artful Dodger), Debra Lawrance (Please Like Me), David Roberts (Please Like Me), Tasma Walton (The Twelve) and Luke Pegler (Hacksaw Ridge). Speaking ahead of the release of the first season, Luke spoke about bringing the popular novel to life. 'It is about motive, history and what people are going through. There's tragedy, romance, action, it's got everything and deeper layers than your usual mystery,' he told the Daily Mail Australia. Before the most recent season he spoke about his character being personally connected to the grisly murder. 'In the first season, Martin was the outsider; he was not too personally connected to this mystery at hand,' he told 9Entertainment. More Trending 'But in Season 2, it's Martin's past coming back to bite him. It's deeply personal. 'He wants to get to the truth because he wants the truth, not because he's gonna write in a story.' For fans of Scrublands there's also a chance it will return for a third season – with Hammer's third novel in the trilogy, titled Trust, following Mandy's disappearance. Speaking about the show and its themes, Tony says: "I often describe the show as a Trojan horse. It's a family melodrama disguised as a murder mystery. Because the things that are really at its heart are things like a son wanting his mother's love and the mother who just cannot afford to give it because her whole world might fall apart."

James Wallace Crime Podcast ‘The Artful Dodger' Launched

Press Release – Stuff Written, hosted and produced by Kate Langdon and Philippa Tolley, the Stuff Group investigation The Artful Dodger features Wallaces only media interview since his convictions. A new six-part podcast investigation into crimes by well-known arts philanthropist James Wallace launches today, chronicling the long legal battle to bring him to justice. Written, hosted and produced by Kate Langdon and Philippa Tolley, the Stuff Group investigation The Artful Dodger features Wallace's only media interview since his convictions. Stuff Group Editor-in-Chief Keith Lynch says the gripping series chronicles the years Wallace's victims fought for justice, after being sexually assaulted at his stately Auckland home, Rannoch House, in the early 2000s, 2008 and 2016. Although the first victim came forward in 2017, Wallace was not convicted until 2021 and name suppression was only lifted two years later. He was stripped of his knighthood in 2023. 'This lengthy battle to name Wallace raised major questions about the justice system, its treatment of abuse victims and name suppression laws,' says Lynch. 'It also forced the arts sector to examine whether it had turned a blind eye to Wallace's offending, in return for millions of dollars worth of patronage.' The series features new in-depth interviews, including with Wallace and the senior officer overseeing the police investigation. It charts the philanthropist's rise and fall, crimes and punishment, and the story of his survivors. Journalists Langdon and Tolley spent about a year investigating the case, which also saw two accomplices of Wallace convicted of attempting to dissuade a victim from giving evidence. Wallace was sentenced to two years and four months in prison, and was released on parole in December 2023 after serving part of his sentence. All six episodes of The Artful Dodger are released on podcast platforms today, and are also available on Artful Dodger is written, hosted and produced by Kate Langdon and Philippa Tolley.
