Former NFL RB LeSean McCoy rips Steelers legend Ben Roethlisberger for lack of success
Earlier in the week, former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger offered up an interesting comparison between quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes. Roethlisberger said that prime Aaron Rodgers was better than current Patrick Mahomes is. Not the most controversial opinion but it definitely got former NFL running back LeSean McCoy stirred up. McCoy decided to vent about Roethlisberger and his hot take on the FS1 show, The Facility. According to McCoy, "Big Ben hates." McCoy noted that in 18 NFL seasons, Roethlisberger was never named an All-Pro and was never once in his career considered the best or even second-best quarterback in the NFL. Both of these are fair points. Roethlisberger was never a big statistical quarterback in his career. He only led the NFL in passing yards twice, and unfortunately, when you shared the league with guys like Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, and Drew Brees, among others, you couldn't get much traction from the national media when your team wins but you don't put up huge numbers. But what Roethlisberger did was win. And elevate the play of his teammates. Roethlisberger was 165-81-1 as a starter in 18 years and led the Steelers to two Super Bowl championships. McCoy also has two Super Bowl titles, both late in his career when he was largely a backup and just moving from team to team. If I want an opinion on a quarterback, I'm taking Roethlisberger over McCoy every time.

Kevin Durant slams Emmanuel Acho over NBA ‘legacy formula': ‘Emmanuel is the worst linebacker of all time'
Kevin Durant isn't a fan of Emmanuel Acho's 'legacy formula.' The FS1 analyst and former Eagles linebacker crafted his own formula Monday to determine NBA players' legacies — and the system did not particularly favor Durant on Tuesday. 'According to The Great Kevin Durant's legacy formula that was created in the best labs at MIT, Emmanuel is the worst linebacker of all time,' Durant feistily responded to Acho on X. 'You sure you wanna listen to this guy about greatness?' 4 Emmanuel Acho spoke on Kevin Durant's legacy using his own 'legacy formula' on Monday. The Facility Acho's legacy formula is simply a player's championships won divided by the number of teams they played for in their career — yielding scores that value players who stuck things out with fewer teams and brought them to glory rather than often jumping ship throughout their careers. 'How many championships did you win and how many teams did you have to play for to do it?' Acho said. 'That is your legacy.' The basis of the segment on FS1's 'The Facility' was arguing whether or not Durant's legacy is hurting after he was just traded, joining his fifth different team in his 17-year career. Durant's score by Acho's formula was 0.4, far lower than some of the other names Acho compared him to, such as Stephen Curry, Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, Dirk Nowitzki and LeBron James. 4 Acho showed how some other NBA legends stacked up against Durant using his formula. The Facility Duncan and Bryant scored 5.0's as they each played for just one team while winning five rings in their careers, Curry scored a 4.0, James a 1.3 and Nowitzki a 1.0. Durant won two championships with the Warriors but has now been with the Thunder, Warriors, Nets, Suns and Rockets — tilting Acho's formula heavily against him. 4 Kevin Durant spent two full seasons with the Suns before he landed with the Rockets on Sunday. AP 4 Before Phoenix, Durant played 129 games with the Nets. AP Despite his low score by Acho's standards, the 36-year-old Durant does have quite the legacy as a regular season MVP, two-time Finals MVP, 15-time All-Star, 11-time All-NBA selection and a four-time scoring champ. But Acho argues that the more he chases new cities and new teams, the worse his career will be looked back upon. 'The more you travel, the more you water down your legacy,' Acho added. 'Jokic ain't moving around. Giannis ain't moving around. Steph ain't moving around.' As for Durant's fiery rebuttal about Acho being the 'worst linebacker of all time,' Acho spent just two seasons in the NFL and played in 20 games — starting in two.

'Still going to fear him': Despite lowest stats of career, Travis Kelce gets fierce support from Emmanuel Acho
Travis Kelce's 2024 performance has led to questions about his decline, but Emmanuel Acho urges caution (Getty Images) Travis Kelce 's 2024 performance sparked decline talks, but analyst Emmanuel Acho wants further proof before writing him off. Kelce reportedly shed 25 pounds ahead of minicamp. Chiefs DC Steve Spagnuolo praised Kelce as a pure megastar as he enters his 13th season. NFL's rush to bury Travis Kelce sparks backlash from Emmanuel Acho The 2024 NFL season saw Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce deliver a performance that ignited widespread discussion about his career route. His statistics—his lowest in yards and touchdowns—led many to speculate that his peak years might be behind him. However, some sports commentators, like former NFL linebacker Emmanuel Acho, advocate for a more measured assessment before concluding that Kelce's dominance is over. On FS1's "The Facility," analyst Emmanuel Acho urged caution before writing off Travis Kelce, despite his perceived dip in 2024. Acho, a former NFL player, observed, 'I think he's lost a step, and I saw it on tape last year." He noted Kelce 'struggled more than ever beating man coverage.' He's reportedly aiming to lose 25 pounds before the upcoming minicamp. Fowler observed, "He played a little heavier in 2024. He vowed to change it, and he has. This could be the last dance for him in his mid-30s, and still be a productive player." This dedicated effort to improve his conditioning highlights Kelce's drive to remain an elite performer. Even as he approaches his thirteenth season, Travis Kelce continues to be a revered presence within the Kansas City Chiefs. Defensive Coordinator Steve Spagnuolo recently expressed his profound admiration for the veteran on the "New Heights" podcast. Spagnuolo highly praised Kelce's character, remarking, "I'm not saying this because you're sitting here, Trav, but you're one of the purest, down-to-earth megastars that anybody could ever meet. Ravens' Lamar Jackson Called Out by Former NFL Player in Blunt Message
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Over the last few years, Baltimore Ravens superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson has continually improved his game. Last season, he posted a career-best season and finished just behind Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen for the NFL MVP award. Jackson has helped make the Ravens one of the top teams in the AFC. In 2025, the team is once again expected to be a legitimate contender for the Super Bowl. However, there is one area of his game that Jackson must improve. "If we're being honest about it all, Lamar has to be special in the playoffs. He's special in the regular season. He's yet to be special in the playoffs. He's been good in the playoffs, but Lamar has to be the difference maker. Hey, if the defense lets you down to some degree, Lamar be the great eraser. If the offense lets you down, Lamar be the great eraser," Acho said. He continued on to reveal what he thinks Jackson must do to be considered an all-time great. "For me, if you are going to be one of the greatest players of the generation, and I don't know if he can be All-Decade, because I'm sure that will go to Patrick Mahomes, but if you're going to be one of the greatest players of the generation, he has to be that in the playoffs as well." During the 2024 NFL season, Jackson was dominant all year long. He completed 66.7 percent of his pass attempts for 4,172 yards, 41 touchdowns, and just four interceptions, while rushing for 915 yards and four more scores. Once again, Baltimore failed to make a Super Bowl run. Not all of the blame can be put on Jackson. Winning is not an individual statistic. Despite that fact, Jackson has received a lot of the blame. He'll be looking to take the next step and lead the Ravens to the Super Bowl and a championship in the 2025 season to silence the critics once and for all. Browns Urged to Take Bold Shedeur Sanders Action by Ex-Player
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. When the Cleveland Browns selected Shedeur Sanders in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, they knew they were getting a talented player. Originally expected to be taken in the first or second round, Sanders went through one of the worst draft slides in recent NFL history. Despite the slide, he landed with a team where he can compete for the starting job. Right now, the Browns have four quarterbacks competing for the Week 1 job. Along with Sanders, the team has Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and Dillon Gabriel in the competition. Deshaun Watson is also on the roster, although he's not expected to play this season. Photo bySanders has not been given a great chance to win the starting job for Week 1. However, there have been quite a few analysts and former players who think he's deserving of the opportunity. Read more: Bengals QB Joe Burrow's Latest Message Is a Warning to the NFL Most recently, former NFL wide receiver James Jones spoke out with a strong direction for Cleveland. He thinks Sanders should be the starter to open the season. "It's been years and years since the Browns have had a consistent QB," Jones said on "The Facility." "I believe he's the best one out there, talent-wise. You have to start him Week 1." It also was shared by former NFL star Chad Johnson that Browns' star cornerback Denzel Ward is very high on Sanders as well. "I talked to Denzel Ward...(expletive), I shouldn't say his name. But anyway, I talked to 'some people,' and (Shedeur) looked different. There's a difference when that young bull is out there spinning that ball, you hear me?" Johnson said. During his four years playing at the college level, Sanders was elite. He completed 70.1 percent of his career pass attempts for 14,347 yards, 134 touchdowns, and 27 interceptions. There is no question he has the arm talent to be successful. Read more: Chad Johnson Sends Telling Message About Browns' Shedeur Sanders It has been a long time since Cleveland was a contender. The Browns also haven't had a clear-cut long-term franchise quarterback for years. Could Sanders finally be the guy to lead the team back to relevance? Might he be the chosen one at quarterback to win a Super Bowl in Cleveland? All of that is way too early to truly discuss, but the hype is there. If he can reach his ceiling, the Browns are going to have a star quarterback leading the way for many years to come. For more Cleveland Browns and NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports.
