NIGO Unites Global Subcultures in a Vibrant KENZO SS26 Collection

Summary KENZO, under the creative direction ofNIGO, unveiled itsSpring/Summer 2026collection, dubbed 'CLUB KENZO.' This season transforms the runway into a dynamic space where past, present, and future cultures converge. Drawing inspiration from three iconic cultural epicenters – Andy Warhol's The Factory, Kenzo Takada's 1970s Parisian studio, and NIGO's own expansive community spanning streetwear, celebrity, and creative contemporaries – the collection is a playful, interrogative blend of subcultures and refined design. Held at Maxim's, a venue steeped in its own history of cultural convergence, the show's soundtrack byHiroshi Fujiwarafurther paid homage to NIGO's deep roots. The collection, titled 'Club KENZO,' celebrates the spirit of carefree summer love, where the act of dressing for a night out becomes a bold statement. The Kenzo Guy and Kenzo Girl take cues from each other, blurring the lines between 'his, hers, and theirs,' embodying a style that's serious about going out, but not serious in its wear. This playful attitude manifests in graphics inspired by bowling alleys and a whimsical love story between a tiger and a bunny, resulting in charming 'bunnies with tiger stripes' – a metaphor for the unexpectedly exquisite outcomes of blending different worlds. The bowling motif is carried out in the platform shoes, constructed with either a solid wooden base or one that appears to be a plastic casing of sorts, reminiscent of a snow globe that features mini figurines through clear liquid. Staying on theme of being over-the-top maximal, the collection also saw, cartoon animal-like wicker baskets as bags, vibrant floral printed purses and more. The punk subversion is highlighted in the house's introduction of Italian tailoring which features hot pink dinner jackets that transform into bold daywear with new custom monogram linings, while NIGO's reinterpreted Japanese tailoring becomes a new statement for eveningwear, rendered in fine satin. Militaria and workwear pieces are injected with punk-inspired colors and elevated with luxurious details like mother-of-pearl buttons and bright faux fur. A rose-adorned chef's shirt with asymmetrical buttons pays homage to founder Kenzo Takada, grounding the collection in signature archival silhouettes. Patterns and motifs are a vibrant collage: archival florals, including a revival of Kenzo Takada's own rose print, mix with early 1990s designs that gain a psychedelic character when remixed with contrasting shapes like stars, checkerboard, and harlequin prints. This new graphic universe establishes a unique, ongoing language for the house. Audacious accessories like bedazzled belt buckles featuring the KENZO branding as well as other tongue and cheek phrases like 'MEOW' and 'WOOF' add to the collection's wild and bold declaration that nothing should ever be as serious as it seems. Bags gain 'attitude' with lived-in leather and hardy canvas, further customized with patches and spray paint, reflecting punk aesthetics and NIGO's appreciation for well-worn collectibles. Cow-hide matching jackets and pants add to the animalistic motifs throughout the collection, pairing with tiger-stripped hoodies and overcoats.

Presteigne residents to have say over former Kaye site plans

PLANNERS will meet with Presteigne residents next week following news that a derelict site in the town that once housed a car parts manufacturer could finally be developed. After lying derelict for almost 15 years, the former Kaye Presteigne site could be transformed into an area that would include 61 homes, a healthcare facility and a retail store. A pre-application consultation exercise has been carried out by Shrewsbury-based property consultants Berrys, with an outline planning application expected to follow soon. Presteigne county councillor Beverley Baynham says she has now met with both Berrys and the applicant, in order to stress the importance of any future development to the town and its residents. A drop-in event has been scheduled to take place next Monday, June 16. 'Following the pre-planning consultation for the Kayes site I met with the applicant and the planning agent last week where I impressed on them the importance of the proposed development on the community,' Cllr Baynham said on her Facebook page on Tuesday. 'I am pleased to say they have agreed to hold a drop-in session on Monday 16th June from 3pm at (the) East Radnor Day Centre building on Scottleton Street. 'This is your opportunity to tell them what you would and would not like to see progress to a planning application.' Kaye Presteigne made parts for car engines, including steering and braking mechanisms, before entering administration in 2010. The foundry, which was known more fondly as Kaye Alloys or simply as 'The Factory', closed in April 2011, with the loss of 100 jobs; 80 per cent of the company's workforce were thought to have lived in Presteigne. Kaye Presteigne was formed in 2006, saving more than 130 jobs, after the former owners J L French went into administration. There has been a foundry in Presteigne since the 1940s and its closure in 2011 brought down the curtain on more than 60 years of it being one of the largest employers in the area. Soon after, the buildings were demolished and the site has lain dormant ever since. 'Whilst the site owners have sought to keep the site secure and tidy, the site is an eyesore, significantly detracting from Presteigne's townscape,' said Berrys, in a planning statement. 'As a consequence, while the site owners have sought to keep the site secure and tidy, the site can attract trespass, vandalism, fly tipping and other anti-social behaviour.' It is envisaged that the proposed development will comprise of 61 houses in total, including 18 1-bed, 22 2-bed, 10 3-bed and 2 4-bed homes; and 3 1-bed, 5 2-bed and 1 3-bed bungalows, in addition to the healthcare and retail facilities. 'The initial application is an outline planning application, with all matters reserved aside from access in order to establish the principle of the proposed development,' continued the planning statement. 'A detailed scheme for the site, including layout, landscaping, detailed design and appearance has yet to be drawn up.'

The Carousel of Dreams is Coming to Life in Franklin

Dust off your tiaras and superhero capes, because Franklin's about to throw the kind of celebration that will make your inner child jump for joy. On Saturday, May 31, The Circle of Giving is throwing a community bash that's equal parts celebration, nostalgia trip, and heartwarming philanthropy. The star of the show? The Carousel of Dreams, a stunning, handcrafted merry-go-round created by the legendary Ken Means. This isn't your average spin-around-the-park ride; this beauty was 30 years in the making, and it's finally ready to twirl its way into the hearts of visitors at The Factory at Franklin, with proceeds from each ride benefiting designated Williamson County charities. Pin The festivities kick off with carousel rides starting bright and early at 10 a.m., but the real party begins at 1 p.m. and continues until 4 p.m. Think face painting, balloon animals, interactive booths, and special appearances from your kids' (and maybe your own) favorite storybook royalty and comic book heroes. The Carousel of Dreams is a jewel in The Factory's crown — hand-carved, hand-painted, and decades in the making, it's the culmination of a lifelong dream for master carver Ken Means. Since 2019, Ken has quietly worked from his studio at The Factory, a space he took on at his daughter's urging, transforming it into a workshop of wonder. Inside, the walls have witnessed nearly 30 years of dedication as he meticulously sculpted a menagerie of vibrant, whimsical animals destined to delight generations. It's more than a carousel; it's a monument to patience, craft, and imagination. The mechanism powering it even has a bit of showbiz sparkle; it once belonged to none other than P.T. Barnum and dates back over a century. And it's about to come to life. Pin But the event isn't just about the thrills and photo ops. Operated by local nonprofit The Circle of Giving, the carousel's proceeds will go toward supporting four Williamson County charities in 2025. Every carousel ride helps support youth mentorship, inclusive play spaces, affordable housing initiatives, and critical resources for students in need. 'This is a dream come true for so many,' says Brandy Blanton, President and CEO of The Circle of Giving. 'This celebration is more than just a fun afternoon. It's a way for the community to come together, count our blessings, and pour back into each other. We live in a special place, and the Carousel of Dreams will forever be part of our story moving forward.' Admission to the event is free, and carousel rides are just $5 (available on-site on the day of the event). Online ticket sales will also start in late June. Kids under 42 inches tall ride free, just make sure a grown-up tags along (you'll need to spring for your own ticket, adults). Prefer a more grounded experience? There's a beautiful handcrafted chariot built for those who'd rather glide than gallop (and it's wheelchair accessible!). Don't forget to swing by the nonprofit booths while you're there. You'll meet the people behind FrankTown Open Hearts, Friends of Franklin Parks' Ellie G's Dream World, Hard Bargain Association, and Needs of Our Kids (N.O.O.K.) — the very organizations your rides are supporting. Pin Oh yes, and there's merch. Carousel of Dreams t-shirts, hats, and even limited-edition posters signed by Ken Means himself will be available. Need a ride? The Franklin Transit Authority's got you covered with shuttle service from Liberty Elementary School every Saturday, running from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for a suggested dollar fare each way. Barry Keoghan's confidence 'knocked out' by rejection

Barry Keoghan's confidence was "knocked out" of him when he got rejected by dance and drama schools. The 32-year-old actor began applying to performing arts institutions following his role as Aido in the Irish Film Board's crime film 'Between the Canals' in 2010, but Barry felt "lost" when he was refused entry into the dance and drama school companies. The movie star told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I did not get into any. I was lost. I had just finished school. It was like having your confidence knocked out." Despite the setback, Barry eventually enrolled at The Factory - now known as Bow Street Academy - in Dublin. The decision ultimately led to Barry starring in the organised crime drama series 'Love/Hate' in 2013, which helped to kick-start his career in Ireland. He said: "The Factory was not an acting school - it was more of a place of pure collaboration and had an experimental approach." Barry took a different approach to his acting for 'Love/Hate' by meeting "lads" in Galway, Ireland, so he could learn how they "walked and talked". His ability to portray complex characters led to him being cast in the 2017 psychological horror thriller, 'The Killing of a Sacred Deer', which also starred Nicole Kidman as Anna Murphy. Reflecting on his career arc, Barry said: "To go from 'Love/Hate' to 'Sacred Deer' was insane. "It was the first time I ever had control (as an actor). Nicole is a genius. I had a baby-like approach - the way babies look at you and absorb." Barry grew up in modest surroundings, but the 'Saltburn' star now wants to inspire the next generation of budding performers and for them to achieve their dreams in the creative industries. The film star - who has enjoyed a meteoric rise in recent years - said: "I want to make this story of where I came from, and get people on board who are not actors. "It is encouraging kids to have some sort of faith and belief that no matter where you come from ... it shouldn't hold you back."
