NHL Trade Rumors: San Jose Sharks may trade second‑overall pick for young top‑six NHL player

On June 27, 2025, insider David Pagnotta suggested the Sharks are ready to move the No. 2 overall pick if they can land a talented young player who has already proven themselves in the NHL. This unexpected opening could shake up the upcoming draft and free agency season. David Pagnotta says Sharks want proven NHL talent instead of draft pick David Pagnotta, speaking on The Fourth Period on June 27, 2025, reported that the San Jose Sharks 'are willing to trade the second‑overall pick if a team is open to trading them a young, top‑six NHL talent in a deal.' This means the Sharks could choose a player already in the league. Teams with promising forwards or centers in that top‑six range, players aged roughly 20 to 25 with some NHL experience, might consider a trade. Pagnotta pointed out that San Jose is looking for an immediate roster upgrade rather than waiting for a draft prospect. The Sharks hold two first‑round picks this year (No. 2 and No. 33), giving them flexibility. David Pagnotta notes the trade talk comes before July open This conversation happens just days before July 1, when NHL free agency begins. If San Jose officially puts the second overall pick on the table, it could speed up trade talks before the start of free agency. Pagnotta emphasized that other prospects may catch San Jose's interest, making this more than a draft decision, it's a strategic move to rebuild faster. He also mentioned San Jose's strong cap space and trading relief, which gives them more options than many teams. Experts on X and Reddit are already discussing which names fit the description. Some suggest the Sharks aim for a rising young winger or center from clubs ready to rebuild. Others wonder if they might target guys like Cole Makar or Kaapo Kakko, though those names are just speculation. NHL Trade Rumors: Boston Bruins forward Pavel Zacha could headline blockbuster trade nobody saw coming

A big turnaround might be brewing in the Boston Bruins. Insider David Pagnotta reports the Bruins are still listening to offers on Pavel Zacha. No details yet, but fans and analysts say the timing and Zacha's fit could spark a surprise move before the season starts. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now David Pagnotta says Boston Bruins still taking calls on Pavel Zacha According to NHL insider David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the Boston Bruins have received trade calls on Pavel Zacha as of June 27, 2025. Zacha, 28, plays center and left wing, and carries a $4.75 million cap hit through 2027‑28. Pagnotta notes that Zacha has a 10‑team no‑trade list but that's set to shrink to eight teams on July 1, making a deal more likely. In addition, earlier reports from March confirmed that Boston is also open to moves for Charlie Coyle and Brandon Carlo. But Zacha stands out as the most intriguing option, given his mix of offensive upside, face‑off skills, and still‑young age. Zacha joined Boston in 2022 after being traded from the New Jersey Devils. Last season, he ranked third on the team with 37 points in 62 games, averaging nearly 20 minutes of ice time per game. Pavel Zacha trade talks fuel debate over Bruins long‑term plan Rumors about Zacha's availability have stirred wide conversation in Boston fan groups, Reddit, and on X. Some fans argue he's a key piece in the Bruins' core lineup, while others believe trading him could help bring in a top‑six forward to push the team further. Pro HockeyrRumors and Yahoo Sports also picked up Pagnotta's note, confirming Boston is fielding serious calls on Zacha and Coyle. The chatter highlights Boston's openness to a roster shake‑up after a season many expected more from. Zacha's contract and limited no‑trade protection make him a tradeable asset, one that could fetch Boston a valuable return. But some question if losing their top center wouldn't hurt team depth, especially if no long‑term replacement is in place. With draft and next season prep around the corner, fans are watching closely to see if this rumor turns into a major NHL trade story.

Former Flyers Forward Expected To Become Free Agent

During this past off-season, the Philadelphia Flyers bought out forward Cam Atkinson. This was after the Riverside, Connecticut native posted 13 goals, 28 points, and a minus-22 rating with the Flyers during the 2023-24 season. Before that, he also missed the entirety of the 2022-23 campaign due to injury. Following being bought out by the Flyers, Atkinson signed a one-year, $900,000 contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning. He did not have the bounce-back season he was looking for with the Lightning in 2024-25, as he recorded just four goals, five assists, and a minus-4 rating in 39 games. He also played in just three games for them during the final two months of the season and was placed on waivers during the campaign. Advertisement Now, it appears that Atkinson's time in Tampa Bay is coming to a close, as The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta reported that the former Flyers forward will become an unrestricted free agent (UFA) on July 1 and move on from the Lightning. Given Atkinson's past success, there could be a team out there willing to take a chance on him with a one-year, prove-it deal if they are looking for more forward depth. The 13-year NHL veteran has hit the 20-goal and 40-point marks on seven occasions, with the last time in being in 2021-22 with the Flyers. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see what happens with former Flyer this off-season from here. This in Editor-in-Chief David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, news that the Oilers are pursuing new deals with two veteran wingers, Connor Brown and Corey Perry, who are soon to be Unrestricted Free Agents: 'Oilers still have some fine-tuning to do on Frederic's new deal before it gets done. As that continues, the team's also trying to lock in Perry and Brown. Brown talks expected to pick up in the coming days. Told he played with a fractured toe in the Stanley Cup Final.'

NHL Rumors: Insider reveals money tension rising in Matthew Knies deal as Maple Leafs struggle with cap space (Image via Getty) There is a lot of noise coming out of Toronto, but no one knows the full truth yet. While sources are saying different things, the Toronto Maple Leafs are developing a new contract for young forward Matthew Knies. Although certain people think an agreement is near, others claim the two sides are yet far apart. Then then, what is actually happening? Matthew Knies and Toronto Maple Leafs facing gap in contract numbers NHL insider David Pagnotta revealed an update in The Fourth Period on Thursday, June 20, 2025, on contract talks between Matthew Knies and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Though both sides are trying to reach a new arrangement, they are not yet aligned. Some sources close to the team believe the deal is almost finished. But other people close to the situation told Pagnotta that there's still a big gap to fix. 'It could go either way,' said one source familiar with the talks. That's why fans are getting mixed messages right now. Knies just finished his entry-level contract after scoring a career-high 29 goals and 58 points in the 2024–25 season. He played 78 regular season games. The 22-year-old forward also had five goals in 13 playoff games this year. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Memperdagangkan CFD Emas dengan salah satu spread terendah? Knies is one of three restricted free agent (RFA) forwards still unsigned by the Leafs, along with Nick Robertson and Pontus Holmberg. The Leafs want to keep all three players but are taking things one step at a time. Matthew Knies asking for more money than Toronto Maple Leafs are offering According to Pagnotta's report, the main issue in the talks is money. The Toronto Maple Leafs want to offer Knies a deal worth $4–$5 million per year. But Knies and his agent are asking for closer to $7 million per year. If it's a long-term deal, Knies might accept a smaller yearly amount. But if it's a short contract, he could get a chance to become a free agent around age 26 or 27. That would give him a better shot at a big contract later. The Leafs have around $25 million in salary cap space, based on data from PuckPedia. So, they do have the money to keep Knies. But both sides need to agree on the length and salary before anything is made official. Game On Season 1 kicks off with Sakshi Malik's inspiring story. Watch Episode 1 here
