Is Lena Dunham's Rom-Com ‘Too Much' Getting A Season 2? It's Not Guaranteed, But Here's What We Know
If you, much like the rest of us, have already inhaled Lena Dunham's Too Much you're probably still swooning over Jessica (Megan Stalter) and Felix's (Will Sharpe) perfectly imperfect love story, replaying that courthouse wedding on a loop, and asking the question on everyone's lips: Will there be a second season? Dunham's signature move is to leave us wanting — nay, needing — more. The first season of Too Much closes with Jess and Felix leaping into marriage, rather than a fairy-tale fade-out, but with all the messy, hilarious, and achingly real uncertainty that made us fall in love with the series in the first place. As Stalter told The Wrap, 'I love the ending because it's exciting to think of…"wait, what's next? If they're married, then what now? What's going to happen?"' Needless to say that we, the people, need more! This is everything we know about Too Much season two. In true Netflix style nothing has been greenlit just yet, but it seems there's plenty of hope for doting Dunham-philes. Dunham herself certainly isn't playing coy about her hopes for a second act. In a post-finale interview with The Wrap, the multi-hyphenate confessed, 'I would love to do another season and sort of shift it away from "meet cute" and into "marriage story." Marriage is not the end of a love story. In many ways, it's the beginning, and a marriage is an incredibly complicated negotiation.' The good news is that the inaugural outing of Too Much ended on something of an open-ended note, meaning that there's plenty more of Jess and Felix's story to be fleshed out. Dunham has also nodded to the idea of a second season, telling Netflix's Tudum that she wanted the wedding in the season one finale to leave audiences with 'lingering questions.' 'I wanted the finale to leave us inspired, but also going, "They haven't known each other that long,"' she explained. 'It's that dual feeling of totally embracing it and also wondering, "Are they going to be divorced in three months?"' The Girls creator also added in her interview with The Wrap that the show is loosely based on her marriage, which, like Jess and Felix, happened pretty early into the relationship. 'We also experienced getting to know each other and getting to know each other's families within the context of marriage,' Dunham noted. The first season of Too Much was filmed in 2024 and debuted on July 10, 2025. If Netflix gives the go-ahead for a second outing of the show soon, it is entirely plausible that it could be released at some point 2026. Here's hoping! Too Much is available to stream now on Netflix. ELLE Collective is a new community of fashion, beauty and culture lovers.
