Indiana woman joins 'Bachelor in Paradise.' What to know about Nancy Hulkower
An Indiana native came to help shake things up on this season of "Bachelor in Paradise." Nancy Hulkower, 62, arrived late in the episode, sparking interest from senior men in the group at the Costa Rica beach resort. The reality dating show, in its 10th season, brings together former contenders from 'The Bachelor' franchise to explore new relationships. Hulkower, who grew up in Warsaw, Indiana, was a cast member of the first season of "The Golden Bachelor," when Indiana resident Gerry Turner was the lead. She was eliminated in week four of that show. The bio for Hulkower on ABC's website describes her as a retired interior designer from Alexandria, Virginia, who 'loves playing golf, walking her goldendoodle, Max, and watching college basketball.' Fun facts about her: She loves a good rom-com; is a dancing machine, but only at weddings; and is a Bruce Springsteen fan. 'The mother of three is loyal, faithful and funny, and is looking for a self-assured, trustworthy man with whom to share her life,' according to the ABC bio. 'She is a self-described hopeless romantic and says, 'I believe in love stories. And even having a great one, I believe I can have another.'" Golden Bachelor no more: Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist get hitched. Huklower was born in Fort Wayne and grew up in Warsaw, leaving for college in 1982. She's lived in Alexandria, Virginia, since 1988. Hulkower is the widow of lawyer Mark J. Hulkower, who prosecuted C.I.A. traitor and Soviet spy Aldrich Ames for treason and defended high-profile executives accused of white collar crimes. He died in 2011. Her parents, David and Carole Delp, live in Winona Lake, Indiana. This is the first 'Bachelor in Paradise' season to include alumni cast members from 'The Golden Bachelor' and 'The Golden Bachelorette' shows. Ten members from the senior spinoffs arrived at the resort in week three of the season, which aired July 15. Gary Levingston, 66, from the first season of 'The Golden Bachelorette,' and Faith Martin, 62, who finished third on the first season of "The Golden Bachelor," also joined the resort early on the July 21 episode. Lea Cayanan, 25, a contestant on the 28th season of 'The Bachelor,' arrived with Hulkower. 'Bachelor in Paradise' airs on ABC on Mondays at 8 p.m. and streams starting the next day on Hulu.

'Bachelor in Paradise' bartender Wells Adams reveals drink requests
They're old-fashioned. 'Bachelor in Paradise' bartender Wells Adams revealed the drink requests he received from senior contestants competing on the show this season. 'They drink like old people drink, which is like, 'I need two fingers of Glenlivet. I need some Chablis mixed in with some Mylanta,'' he told The Post. This is the first summer 'BiP' welcomed alums of the franchise's spinoffs for seniors, 'The Golden Bachelor' and 'The Golden Bachelorette,' ranging in age from 62 to 72 — and Adams, 41, raised a glass to their traditional taste. 'They drink like people should drink, which is like old school. I appreciate it,' he said. 4 Wells Adams has been serving up drinks on 'Bachelor in Paradise' since 2017. Disney 'I made a couple of Manhattans, I made a couple martinis, I made a couple Old Fashioneds.' Adams, a California native, made his Bachelor Nation debut in 2016, when he competed on JoJo Fletcher's season of 'The Bachelorette,' landing in eighth place. [Fletcher ended up marrying his fellow contestant, Aaron Rodgers' brother, Jordan.] That same summer, he competed on 'Bachelor in Paradise' — where castoffs from 'The Bachelor' and 'The Bachelorette' mingle on the beach — and was asked to man its bar the following season, after the show's original bartender, Jorge Moreno, left. 4 Alums of 'The Golden Bachelor' and 'The Golden Bachelorette,' the spinoffs that feature senior citizens as contestants, joined 'Bachelor in Paradise' for the first time this summer. Disney He said the most popular drink in 'Paradise' amongst the 20- and 30-somethings was created by Moreno and kept the contestants — who were dating in the Costa Rican sun — cool as cucumbers. 'He had this drink called the Jorge Special . . . you cut up some cucumbers . . . then throw in some vodka, let the vodka infuse into the cucumbers, then throw in some ice, then it is soda water, splash of 7-Up or Sprite, and then garnish with a lime wedge,' he explained. 'It's so hot in 'Paradise' that that drink really, really is refreshing.' 4 'Paradise' host Jesse Palmer has started a tradition of drinking rum during the show's rose ceremonies. Disney Only one person has ordered beer in 'Paradise' — show host Jesse Palmer. 'I've only ever served four beers. They've all been to Jesse,' said Adams. He gave the former Giants quarterback — who took over 'Bachelor' franchise hosting duties after Chris Harrison stepped down — credit for changing a longstanding bubbly tradition. 'I gotta give Jesse props. You know, for years you had to come and start a rose ceremony with a glass of champagne and this year he changed things up, and it was appropriate for where we were,' he noted. 'He came with a rocks glass full of really nice rum. And so, every rose ceremony, some producer would be like, 'Hey, Jesse needs his rum.'' 4 Adams married Sarah Hyland, who developed a crush on him after seeing him on 'The Bachelorette.' Getty Images The reality star did end up meeting his wife, Sarah Hyland, through the ABC franchise, since the 'Modern Family' actress watched his season of 'The Bachelorette,' and tweeted about having a crush on him. The couple married in 2022 and Adams always makes sure to keep up with his other half's drink of choice, which has changed over the years. 'I made her a spicy cranberry margarita, she really liked that. And then I got her on Old Fashioneds and she really liked those,' he said. 'And then she maneuvered into just wanting bourbon neat cause she's a badass. She likes gin martinis as well. But rosé is her go-to drink.'

Anthony Anderson's beloved mama Doris celebrates her 72nd birthday this week, and she had a list of requests to ring it in in style. Apparently, that included taking over ABC for a bit, and rebranding each of their shows. To kick off his final guest monologue on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' on Thursday night, Anderson explained that his mother sent an email to the producers of the show, with a series of requests to make the day special. 'And I swear to God, all of this is true,' he prefaced, before reading through her demands. 'She doesn't want seaweed or other healthy things they usually put in the dressing rooms. Hennessy and Bailey's.' The list only went on from there and, according to Anderson, the staff actually ended up accommodating his mothers requests. He then joked that he got a call just before the show from the network, saying that she 'got to them too.' From there, a commercial began running, revealing that 'this Summer, ABC is adding a D,' for Doris. 'All your favorite ABC shows, starring the 'Black-ish' guy's mom!' the voiceover cheerily announced. 'First, it's too damn early, with 'Good Mama America.'' 'Where's that sexy-ass Michael Strahan?' The list went on to include 'Judge Mama' in place of 'Judge Judy,' 'Mama Medical' taking over for 'Grey's Anatomy,' 'The Golden Bachelo-Doris' and even 'The View,' though that didn't get renamed. Instead, Doris simply played each one of the hosts, acting out a dramatic Hot Topics discussion, complete with the ripping of a wig. 'Golden Bachelorette' star has an important message as 'Bachelor In Paradise' begins
Gary Levingston, a fan favorite on the inaugural 'The Golden Bachelorette' season, wooed viewers with his vulnerability and honest self. Now, he's ready for a second shot at love on 'Bachelor in Paradise.' The popular spinoff of ABC's flagship reality dating show "The Bachelor" (and its sister program "The Bachelorette"), premiered July 7 following a nearly two-year hiatus, and for the first time ever, is including past contestants from "The Golden Bachelorette" and "The Golden Bachelor." Since his time on 'The Golden Bachelorette,' Levingston, 66, has tried to use his off-screen platform for good. During Mental Health Awareness Month in May, he teamed up with Talkspace, an online therapy and psychiatry service, to encourage seniors to take care of their mental health and consider starting therapy if they haven't already. Before shipping off to find love in Costa Rica, Levingston spoke with USA TODAY about mental health in the 'golden age' and how he prepared for another season in 'The Bachelor' universe. 'Bachelor in Paradise' Season 10: Dates, cast, how to watch Mental health awareness and the generation gap Levingston doesn't think of himself as 'old.' Rather, when he refers to himself and his ''Golden Bachelorette' brothers,' he uses the term 'golden aged.' But he says among his peers, conversations around mental health are sometimes few and far between. Researchers call this the 'generation gap,' as Gen Z are more likely to report mental health concerns than older generations. Along with millennials (35%), Gen Zers are also more likely (37%) than Gen X (26%) and baby boomers (22%) to report having received treatment or therapy from a mental health professional. 'In our era, we were taught to be strong. Don't cry. You can handle it. You're not hurt,' Levingston says. 'I would often hear, 'You need to man up.'' Before the show, Levingston would have described himself as a very private person. He's still learning how to be an open book, but people like his godmother, soul and rock powerhouse Tina Turner, have taught him the importance of private time. Turner would give Livingston books on topics like the 'power of the subconscious mind,' which he sees as a throughline to his newfound passion in mental health. 'Helping other people, motivating and keeping them spiritually uplifted, is what I take great pride in,' he says. It's led him to be more outspoken about being vulnerable and unafraid to talk about your emotions, whether it be on reality TV, in your faith group or among your friends. He doesn't hesitate to turn to his men's church group when in need of 'words of inspiration to keep him going.' Levingston maintains an active lifestyle — he plays pickleball and golf, takes walks and hikes, and keeps a steady gym routine. However, he says that apart from socializing with the folks at his church, he doesn't have anything for his mental health embedded in his weekly routine. Talkspace, he hopes, will change that. The platform accepts most major health insurances, and importantly for seniors, Medicare. It won't be the first time Levingston has sought support from a mental health professional. During his divorce, he was 'in denial' of what was happening and dealing with feelings of anger. 'You don't realize the grief you're under with that kind of a life-changing situation,' he says. 'So I have talked to a therapist, which did help. It didn't save the marriage, but it made me a better person in the long run.' He hopes to find a connection. The goal is staying true to himself. Just as he did on 'The Golden Bachelorette,' Levingston is going into this season of 'Bachelor in Paradise' with an 'open mind and heart.' 'I go in allowing myself to be vulnerable,' he says. 'When I do that, I can be the genuine man that I am. I can just be confident in myself, no matter what happens.' Levingston still texts and calls his 'Golden Bachelorette' castmates regularly. 'We're like, from this exclusive fraternity that no one else gets to be part of. And we don't take that lightly,' he says. Those bonds created a safe environment for the men to be vulnerable throughout their experiences on 'The Bachelor' franchise. 'We're all on this journey still, some of us are going to 'Paradise,'' he says. 'So we're great brothers and friends and are here to help each other at the drop of a dime. It's a beautiful thing.' As he crosses the bridge into the later half of his 60s, Levingston doesn't want to entertain a situation where he's not having fun or staying true to himself. 'We all come to a point in our lives when we have to make some tough decisions. Going forward, I want to make sure that whatever decision I make, that I'm having fun. If I'm not having fun, then I'm not going to do it,' he says. 'Today is all I have. I don't want to go out being angry or envious or saddened by anything. I want to have as much fun as I can in life.' Contributing: Ema Sasic, Palm Springs Desert Sun
