‘It felt good', says Sydney Sweeney on getting hurt while filming fight scenes

Hollywood actress Katy O'Brian revealed that she was repeatedly punched by Sydney Sweeney while filming boxing scenes for the upcoming biopic on legendary boxer Christy Martin—and surprisingly, she enjoyed it. Speaking at the A24 premiere of Ari Aster's 'Eddington' in West Hollywood, O'Brian, who plays a rival boxer in the film, said, 'I got punched quite a few times. It felt good. It was great. It better read well on camera.' The film stars Sydney Sweeney as Christy Martin, one of the most prominent female boxers of the 1990s. Known for her aggressive fighting style and trailblazing career, Martin's life was marked by both triumph and tragedy—culminating in a shocking 2010 murder attempt by her husband. For the role, Sweeney underwent a dramatic physical transformation, gaining 30 pounds and building serious muscle. 'My body was completely different,' Sweeney told W Magazine earlier this year. 'My boobs got bigger. My butt got huge. I was like, 'Oh my god.' But it was amazing—I was so strong, like crazy strong.' O'Brian acknowledged that while it felt good to be punched, it was harder to hit back. 'Even with the extra 30 pounds, I would still have 20 to 30 pounds on her, so it never feels good,' she said. 'But she didn't seem to care very much.' In fact, Sweeney's fearlessness stood out. O'Brian added, 'I was just like, 'Please, don't break my nose.' I had to do 'The Running Man' right after. She was like, 'If you break my nose, that's fine.'' Christy Martin's story is one of grit, glory, and survival. She fought professionally from 1989 to 2012, became the world super welterweight champion in 2009, and survived a brutal attempt on her life by her husband in 2010. He was later convicted of attempted second-degree murder. The untitled biopic promises to showcase the raw intensity of Martin's life, both inside and outside the ring — and judging by the physicality involved in filming, the fight scenes are shaping up to be as authentic as her legacy.

All the times Hollywood came to Scotland – including doomed superhero blockbuster

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) SOME of Scotland's busiest streets have been transformed in recent weeks as Hollywood production teams rolled into town. Shooting has been taking place in Glasgow and Edinburgh for blockbuster director J.J. Abrams' new movie, Ghostwriter. Film fans have gotten caught up in the glitz and glamour as they caught glimpses of A-list stars like Glen Powell and Jenna Ortega on set. But it's not the first time that Scotland has added a tartan twist to tinsel town - as Powell was here last year too during the filming of the dystopian thriller The Running Man. Becoming such a big attraction for the film industry is also highly lucrative for Scotland - as the sector is on track to rake in £1billion a year for the economy. Screen Scotland believes they will reach a 10-figure turnover by the end of 2030/31 as more and more major productions continue to be made north of the border. Here are some of the massive movies that have already brought a boost to the country. The Batman 10 A man dressed as Batman during filming at the Glasgow Necropolis cemetery. Filming took place in Glasgow's Necropolis as the East End graveyard hosted amazing scenes involving the Batmobile. Several of the city's streets were shut down as it doubled for fictional Gotham. Fast and Furious 9 10 Scenes from F9 were shot in Scotland. Credit: Alamy There were 52 road closures and restrictions in 2019 as the legendary action franchise came to Edinburgh. The film, released in 2021, starred Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Charlize Theron and John Cena. Around 800 crew members and 375 local hires took over the capital to shoot some incredible scenes. Film crews descended on the filming hotspot for two-and-a-half weeks in July 2021 as struggling local businesses battled the impact of the pandemic. But it only got six minutes of screen time - hardly anything compared to the likes of Italy and Morocco where filming also took place. Outlaw King 10 Chris Pine as Robert the Bruce in Outlaw King. American cars and street lights were brought so the city could double as Philadelphia. It was said that the production brought more than £2million to the local economy. James Bond 10 Daniel Craig and Judi Dench in James Bond's Skyfall Credit: AP:Associated Press Scotland is an important part of the spy franchise's 2012 instalment Skyfall. Daniel Craig, 57, earned rave review for his portrayal of 007 as the Glencoe Valley provided the backdrop for his home. The success of the film has since made the scenic route via the A82 one of the UK's most popular. Harry Potter 10 The viaduct features as the Hogwarts Express. Rannoch Moore is where the Death Eaters board the train in Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 1. The Glenfinnan Viaduct features in several of the movies, while Loch Shiel was used to shoot the underwater task of the Triwizard Tournament in the Goblet of Fire. Glen Coe, Glen Nevis and Lochs Arkaig, Etive, and Eilt have also featured in different instalments. Avengers 10 Vehicle being exploded on the Royal Mile during filming for Avengers. While even fishing village St Abbs enjoyed a starring role in Endgame as New Asgard - where Thor retreats to following the events of Infinity War. The story centres on a legal battle over the rights to iconic 80s game Tetris, with the Rocketman actor playing Dutch video game entrepeneur Henk Rogers. Other scenes were shot in Aberdeen and Edinburgh as Scotland got a big showing. Batgirl 10 Explosions and flames at the filming of Batgirl in Glasgow city centre. The DC film, shot entirely in Glasgow, was set to feature Hollywood stars Leslie Grace, Michael Keaton, and Brendan Fraser. It racked up costs of £57million but was shelved by the studio following "poor" test screenings.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Thinks THE RUNNING MAN Remake Could Actually Be Better Than His 1987 Film — GeekTyrant

Arnold Schwarzenegger is the first to admit his The Running Man adaptation had room for improvement. While promoting FUBAR Season 2 in a new interview with Grae Drake for CBR Presents: DRAW!, the action legend opened up about the 1987 cult sci-fi film and his honest take on the upcoming Edgar Wright remake. Schwarzenegger said of the original film: 'It was great, but it could have been better. I think it would have been great if we would have been better prepared for this movie, if we would have had more money… the visual effects, the technology of visual effects, that they have today, all of those things I wished after the movie came out.' As for the remake, Schwarzenegger seems genuinely hopeful it will take the concept to the next level. 'I love the idea that they're doing a sequel to Running Man, or a remake. I don't know what it's going to be…I think that they have a good chance now with the new Running Man to make it better. And I hope, for their sake and for my sake, I hope that they will be successful.' The original film, directed by Paul Michael Glaser and based loosely on the Stephen King novel written under the Richard Bachman pseudonym, followed Ben Richards (Schwarzenegger), a wrongly convicted man forced to survive a deadly game show for entertainment. The cast included Maria Conchita Alonso, Jesse Ventura, Yaphet Kotto, and Richard Dawson in a truly unhinged performance as the game's host. Now, Edgar Wright is stepping into the arena, bringing his signature style to the remake. Co-written with Michael Bacall, the film stars Glen Powell as Richards, joined by a wild ensemble including Katy O'Brian, Michael Cera, Lee Pace, Josh Brolin, William H. Macy, and Colman Domingo. With today's tech, a bigger budget, and Wright behind the camera, the world The Running Man with its dystopian media, violent spectacle, corporate control feels even more relevant now. The idea that this remake could tap into that with more bite is pretty exciting. The Running Man remake is set to hit theaters on November 7, 2025.
