July 2 (UPI) -- Barbra Streisand, Mariah Carey and Ariana Grande are sharing what it was like collaborating on Streisand's song "One Heart, One Voice." In a clip released Wednesday, both Carey and Grande discussed how they've been fans of Streisand's since their childhood. "Barbra has quite literally always been a part of my life," Grande said. "I went to go see Barbra with my mom and we made it into the concert DVD somehow. We've come a long way from being in the audience to collaborating on her album." "The way she's broken through the glass ceiling... I really, really look up to her for all she's done," Carey added. The song appeared on the duets album that Streisand, 83, released Friday. That album, called The Secret of Life: Partners, Volume 2, also includes collaborations with Hozier, Paul McCartney Sam Smith, Bob Dylan, Laufey, Tim McGraw, Sting, Josh Groban and Seal. "We go to bed very late...": Barbra Streisand on her relationship with husband James Brolin
Grammy Award winner spoke about her relationship with her husband, , and how they manage to find peace amid their busy schedules, reported People. "We go to bed very late, so I'm still in bed," said Streisand while opening up about her daily routine with her husband, adding, "We have a different schedule. She starred in the critically acclaimed Funny Girl (1968), winning the Academy Award for Best Actress. Streisand won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for writing the love theme from A Star Is Born (1976). Streisand later produced and directed The Prince of Tides (1991) and The Mirror Has Two Faces (1996). Her accolades include ten Grammy Awards, including the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and the Grammy Legend Award; nine Golden Globe Awards; five Emmy Awards; four Peabody Awards; two Academy Awards; the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award; and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Streisand and Brolin married in 1998, two years after meeting at a dinner party orchestrated by friends. In recent months, she has been focused on her family. The Yentl star is mom to son Jason Gould, 58, with ex-husband Elliott Gould, and grandma to a brood that includes stepson Josh Brolin's two young daughters Chapel, 4, and Westlyn, 6, and stepdaughter Molly's son Soli, 3, reported People. She celebrated her 27th wedding anniversary with Brolin on July 1. "We met on a blind date 29 years ago tonight, and we married 27 years ago today. I love you honey. B xo," she wrote on her Instagram handle. Streisand had nothing but praise for Carey and Grande in an interview with Variety, calling the pair "the hottest, biggest, most wonderful voices." Partners, Volume 2 also features collaborations with Hozier, Paul McCartney, Sam Smith, Bob Dylan, Laufey, Tim McGraw, Sting, Josh Groban and Seal. Streisand released "The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face" with Hozier in April and "My Valentine" with McCartney in May. "Recording this album with new and familiar friends was a joyful experience! I Chose the title, The Secret of Life, because I thought James Taylor's philosophical lyric was particularly inspiring," she wrote on Instagram, referencing Taylor's 1976 song of the same name. In addition to her new music, Streisand released her autobiography My Name is Barbra in late 2023. Barbra Streisand loves being with grandchildren
Barbra Streisand finds it "joyous" to be with her grandchildren. The 83-year-old actress - whose stepson Josh Brolin is dad to Trevor, 37, Eden, 32, Westlyn, six, and four-year-old Chapel and stepdaughter has three-year-old Soli - admitted her latest album, 'The Secret of Life: Partners, Volume Two', was inspired by the pleasure she takes in being surrounded by family. Barbra - who has son Jason, 58, with ex-husband Elliott Gould and is married to James Brolin - told People magazine:"I had asked my daughter-in-law, who's also a photographer, to bring the children over and take some pictures with me. The kids were walking toward me, and I was standing behind a screen door, and I said, 'Oh Kathryn, take this picture right now.' "The point is, the feeling whenever they're here is just joyous. It's very, very special... "It's wonderful to have family. And that's how The Secret of Life title came — [the secret] is several things, but one of them is family," The album is Barbra's first in almost seven years, and features duets with the likes of Sir Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan and Tim McGraw, but the Funny Girl star admitted she wasn't sure she was up to recording after the extensive process of recording the audiobook version of her memoir xx left her "hoarse". She said: "I hadn't sung in a long time so I didn't know if I had a voice left." But Barbra has no plans to give up her career and she still particularly loves recording new music. She said: "As long as I have a voice, I love the privacy of recording. "I love standing there in front of the mic with the music in my ears and singing, and there are more songs I want to sing. And I even have my original list of songs I've wanted to sing [since I was 18 years old]." Barbra began her career when she was 13 years old and she'd advise her younger self to trust her instincts. Asked what she'd have told her younger self, she said: "I'd tell her, 'Believe in yourself, believe in your choices. Believe in what you hear, what you feel.' I did it instinctively."
