Notre Dame's 2026 recruiting class features 3 NFL sons and will make you feel so old
If you're ready to feel very, very old, check out these three recent recruits for Notre Dame football. After the son of former Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis, outside linebacker Thomas Davis Jr., committed to the Fighting Irish last fall, the school landed the sons of two more NFL standouts on Saturday. Wide receiver Devin Fitzgerald, the son of future Hall of Fame receiver Larry Fitzgerald, and wide receiver Kaydon Finley, the son of former Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finley, both committed to the Notre Dame the day after July 4th. This photo with all three former NFL players and sons, all future Notre Dame players, is so cool. However, it will also make you sit quietly and contemplate the cruel passage of time. Congrats to all of these future Notre Dame players and their dads, and continued respect to Father Time for making us all feel absolutely ancient.

Thomas Davis Jr. remains a solid commitment to Notre Dame
Thomas Davis Jr. remains a solid commitment to Notre Dame Thomas Davis Jr.'s commitment to Notre Dame remains solid. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound North Carolina outside linebacker returned to South Bend this past weekend for an official visit and was among a slew of top recruits as the Fighting Irish had arguably their biggest recruiting weekend of this offseason. The Class of 2026 Weddington (Matthews, NC) product will obviously always be linked to Georgia, his father's alma mater after he took an official visit to Athens earlier this month. But he made sure to recruit the uncommitted players that were in South Bend over the weekend, including having in-depth conversations with wide receivers Devin Fitzgerald and Kaydon Finley. Like Davis Jr., both have fathers who had NFL careers. That's a great sign for Marcus Freeman and his staff. Davis Jr. committed to ND three days after he visited the Irish during their 52-3 win over Florida State last fall. Davis Sr. played safety at Georgia from 2002-2004, but changed positions to linebacker in the NFL and flourished. In 13 seasons with the Carolina Panthers, Davis Sr. played and made three Pro Bowl appearances and helped the Panthers reach the Super Bowl in 2015. At Georgia, he was selected to the All-SEC first team in 2003 and 2004 and earned a consensus All-American selection in 2004. Georgia will host Notre Dame LB commit Thomas Davis Jr. on an official visit this weekend
While Notre Dame football has had plenty of success recruiting former NFL players son's, for linebacker commit Thomas Davis Jr., there seems to be a late pull towards his father's alma mater Georgia. The 6-foot, 2-inch and 205-pound prospect made his verbal commitment to the Irish in November of last year, but has been flirting with the Bulldogs recently. Davis was offered by them earlier this month, and it was enough for him to schedule an official visit to Athens this weekend according to a report from On3. Advertisement The nation's No. 189 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings should now be put on a flip watch, as the only other official he had scheduled was to visit South Bend in two weeks. Hopefully that isn't the case, as Davis is just making sure that he has made the right decision with his commitment to Notre Dame. This situation is one to monitor going forward, as the only other linebacker commit that the Irish have in the 2026 class is Jakobe Clapper.
