Shah Rukh Khan And Salman Khan's Tiger Vs Pathaan Not Shelved
New Delhi: Reports of Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan's upcoming film, Tiger vs Pathaan, being shelved have been doing the rounds on the Internet. This claim comes after Salman confirmed earlier this year that the project is "not happening" at the moment. The movie is a part of the YRF spy universe. Now, NDTV has exclusively learnt that the reports are "false." Industry insiders confirmed that the film is "not shelved." The media portal PeepingMoon, which broke the story of the film being shelved, has also taken it down. YRF's spy universe kicked off with Salman Khan's Ek Tha Tiger (2012), featuring Katrina Kaif. Salman Khan played the character of a RAW agent, Avinash Singh Rathore, code-named Tiger, in the film. He later reprised his role in Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) and Tiger 3 (2023). Shah Rukh Khan, on the other hand, joined the spy world with the blockbuster Pathaan (2023). The movie, directed by Siddharth Anand, also had a special cameo by Salman Khan. Another movie that is a part of this spy genre is Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff's War (2019). The line-up also includes War 2 and Alpha. Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh will share screen space in Alpha. Ahead of Tiger vs Pathaa n, Shah Rukh and Salman Khan have worked in films like Karan Arjun (1995), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) and Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam (2002). Salman Khan was last seen in the AR Murugadoss directorial Sikandar. The action adventure, also starring Pooja Hegde released this year on Eid. The film, however, did not match expectations. Shah Rukh Khan, on the other hand, appeared in the 2023 drama Dunki. He will next be seen in Sujoy Ghosh's King.

While Salman had earlier remarked that the film was 'not happening' at the moment, new reports suggest that Yash Raj Films (YRF) is in the process of reworking the ambitious spy film rather than abandoning it altogether. 'Aditya believes the Spy Universe films are veering toward repetition and need a revitalised approach to storytelling and presentation,' a source said to the entertainment portal. The report further adds that the intention is not to cancel major projects like Tiger vs Pathaan , but to reimagine them. 'The aim is to avoid formula fatigue by infusing fresh direction and innovative storytelling styles,' the source told the portal. Although fans have been eagerly awaiting the crossover clash between Salman's RAW agent Tiger and Shah Rukh's Pathaan, introduced in the 2023 blockbuster, there has been no official statement regarding the film's status. The Spy Universe also includes Hrithik Roshan 's Kabir in the WAR franchise and Alia Bhatt 's 'Alpha', which are slated to release in the months ahead. YRF hits pause on ‘Tiger vs Pathaan' as spy universe shifts focus to ‘Dhoom 4'
Yash Raj Films' much-hyped crossover Tiger vs Pathaan, starring Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, has reportedly been put on hold. While fans have awaited the face-off between the two super spies, a new report suggests that YRF head Aditya Chopra is pressing pause to rethink the creative direction of the spy universe. According to a report by Peepingmoon, Chopra believes the franchise is at risk of becoming formulaic. 'Aditya believes the spy universe films are veering towards repetition and needs a revitalised approach to storytelling and presentation,' the outlet reported. The goal, it said, is to rework the creative strategy to avoid 'formula fatigue' and keep the audience engaged with fresh ideas and innovative storytelling. This development follows rumours of Tiger vs Pathaan being shelved altogether, although no official confirmation has come from YRF. At the same time, Chopra appears to be shifting focus toward other big-ticket projects. News18 previously reported that YRF is now prioritising Dhoom 4, with Ranbir Kapoor set to headline the reboot. Chopra is said to be heavily involved in shaping the story alongside writer Shridhar Raghavan. Sources say the character is being tailored to Kapoor's screen persona and the film will be stylistically distinct from previous spy universe titles. Ayan Mukerji is reportedly in talks to direct Dhoom 4, which could begin production by April 2026. Meanwhile, the YRF Spy Universe continues to expand. War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani, is slated for release on August 14, 2025. Roshan reprises his role as Kabir, while Jr NTR makes his Bollywood debut. Following that is Alpha, headlined by Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, and Bobby Deol, set to hit cinemas on December 25, 2025.
