Tony Romo Addresses End-of-Dynasty Debate for Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes

Tony Romo Addresses End-of-Dynasty Debate for Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes originally appeared on Athlon Sports. In attendance at the American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe, former Cowboys quarterback and CBS Sports color commentator Tony Romo made it clear that he's not buying the idea that the Kansas City Chiefs' dynasty is coming to a close. Advertisement 'They've been saying that for years,' Romo said in response to a question from a Kansas City reporter. 'They said that about Brady and the Patriots and Belichick. It's the same thing. You got Andy Reid, you got Mahomes, you got Kelce. You guys are going to be fine.' The "end of the dynasty" narrative has picked up steam this offseason, largely due to questions about Travis Kelce's future. The All-Pro tight end will turn 36 in October and is entering his 12th NFL season. But Romo isn't concerned, and he has good reason not to be. For starters, Patrick Mahomes remains one of the league's most dominant quarterbacks. He's already won three Super Bowls, three Super Bowl MVPs and two regular season MVPs. He's played in seven straight AFC Championship games. He's also locked into a long-term deal that gives the team flexibility to build around him. Advertisement Then there's head coach Andy Reid, one of the greatest offensive minds the league has ever seen. Reid's creativity and ability to adapt year to year, along with his strong relationship with Mahomes, have kept the Chiefs' offense elite, even as top targets like Tyreek Hill have moved on. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (15).Denny Medley-Imagn Images And while Kelce might be nearing the end, his current form still ranks among the best at the position. He's collected at least 83 receptions and 800 yards in every season since 2016. With Mahomes under center, Kelce running routes and Reid on the sideline, the Chiefs aren't going anywhere. As Romo put it, the Chiefs will "be fine.' Ranking QBs Chiefs will play in 2025: Kansas City will square off against one of the best in a holiday showdown

Ranking QBs Chiefs will play in 2025: Kansas City will square off against one of the best in a holiday showdown originally appeared on A to Z Sports. As we continue to rank the quarterbacks that the Chiefs will play in 2025, we're up to No. 4 on our list, who is one of the NFC's best. Let's jump right in. . . No. 4: Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott It's hard to believe that Prescott is already entering his 10th NFL season. A fourth-round selection by the Cowboys in 2016, he was thrust into the starting QB role as a rookie when Tony Romo and Kellen Moore suffered significant injuries. Advertisement Prescott took the bull by the horns and never let go. He started every game for Dallas throughout his first four seasons, finishing .500 or better each year. The Cowboys have never had a losing record when Prescott has played a full season. Prescott is a three-time Pro Bowler, a Second-Team All-Pro, the 2016 Offensive Rookie of the Year, and the 2022 Walter Payton Man of the Year. As long as he stays healthy, he should pass Romo for the most passing yards in Cowboys' history, trailing him by just 2,746. Prescott could also set the record for most touchdown passes in team history, needing 36 to pass Romo. Short of winning the MVP, he has done it all when it comes to the regular season. Unfortunately, the deeper he gets into his career, the louder the criticisms have become about his lack of postseason success. Prescott carries a 2-5 playoff record, and has never made it past the divisional round. While the 1,962 passing yards and 14 TDs he has recorded in the postseason are really solid, he has also thrown seven interceptions, four of which came during his last two losses. Advertisement There's still time for Prescott to change his playoff narrative, but it's possible he has more years behind him in the NFL than in front. His 2024 season was cut short after eight games due to a hamstring injury which required surgery. In addition to one of the best wide receivers in the league, CeeDee Lamb, Dallas added WR George Pickens and running back Javonte Williams to its offense for Prescott to work with in 2025. The Cowboys will host the Chiefs in Week 13 on Thanksgiving Day. This will be Kansas City's first appearance on Thanksgiving since 2006 when it beat the Denver Broncos 19-10. Prescott owns a 1-1 record against the Chiefs in his career, beating them at home in 2017 and losing to them in K.C. in 2021. Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas will host the 2028 Final Four

Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas will host the 2028 Final Four. A decade ago, it would have been inconceivable. A decade ago, the NFL shut down Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo's fantasy football convention in Las Vegas, even though the convention was being held at a property that had no gambling on it. A decade ago, sports betting was legal in gambling but nowhere else. And while the proliferation and normalization of gambling throughout the country since 2018 has stripped Las Vegas of that which made it unique, it has opened new doors for Sin City. An NFL team resides there. A Super Bowl has happened there. An NHL team plays there. An MLB team is coming. (I think.) And now the Final Four will happen there. Via Mick Akers of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority voted on Monday to devote $26 million to the planning and execution of the event. LVCVA President and CEO Steve Hill believes the economic impact will outweigh the expenses by $250 million or more. 'When that event takes place in Las Vegas, everybody knows it,' Hill told Akers. 'They telecast the skyline of our city over and over again and they talk about being here.' With most of the country now able to carry a casino around in their pockets, it's more important than ever to have more of what happens in Vegas happen in Vegas.

How The 2025 Season Could Be Franchise-Altering For Cowboys' Dak Prescott

How The 2025 Season Could Be Franchise-Altering For Cowboys' Dak Prescott originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott will enter the 2025 season with a target placed firmly on his back. Advertisement Fighting a narrative of being consistently sidelined (only two full seasons in the last five years) and his failures in the playoffs, Prescott has it all to do to try to end those narratives. Now, I'm a glass-half-full type of person, and when looking at Prescott's body of work, yeah, it's solid, but as most will attest to, the playoff failures are what most people cling to. But Prescott has the chance to do something that, while unlikely, if he were to pull it off, might be his biggest and best achievement yet. As Prescott enters Year 10, there are a few things he could accomplish that would solidify his standing in Cowboys history, and despite all of the hate he receives, it would quieten them all down. Advertisement What am I talking about? Let's get to it. As things stand, Prescott needs just 2,747 passing yards to be the all-time franchise leader, 36 touchdowns to overtake Tony Romo as the all-time leader, and 19 wins to be the franchise leader in that too. Detroit Lions DT D.J. Reader getting pressure on Dak PrescottAndrew Dieb-Imagn Images Now, the wins won't happen, that will likely take place next season, but Prescott has thrown 36 touchdowns in a year before (twice, other was 37 in 2021), and it would likely mean the Cowboys win a lot of games (Dallas won 11 and 12 games in his two years of 36+ touchdowns). So, there is a chance that Prescott, by the end of the 2025 season, will be Dallas' all-time leader in yards and touchdowns and could be a few wins shy of having that record too (thanks to a deep playoff run). Advertisement If he is to have a season many think he is capable of, he could also break the playoff drought, winning more than one game in the postseason. Yes, it is a little outlandish, but Prescott, over the next 18 months, is on track to be the franchise leader in all key stats, overtaking Romo, Troy Aikman and Roger Staubach. The only thing missing would be a Super Bowl to tie it all together. Olivia Munn makes surprise statement about ex Aaron Rodgers after she was blamed for his family's estrangement

Olivia Munn spoke out about her ex Aaron Rodgers - whom she dated from 2014 until 2017. The 44-year-old actress, who is now married to John Mulaney, appeared on the Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard podcast, and was asked if she watched Aaron's documentary on Netflix. 'I didn't watch it. I knew what it was going to be,' she told Dax on the Monday episode. Adding: 'It was going to push a narrative that during my time with them, never would ring true... There was this narrative that took hold because if you remember, back in the day, Jessica Simpson was hung out to dry for the Cowboys failures,' referring to Jessica's relationship with then-Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. At the time of Olivia and Aaron's relationship, Aaron was in the midst of an estrangement with his parents Ed and Darla and brother Jordan - an estrangement which many believed was Olivia's fault. The actress, who is now married to John Mulaney , appeared on the Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard podcast, and was asked if she watched Aaron's documentary on Netflix; seen with Aaron in February 2016 When Jessica dated Tony from 2007 until 2009, many fans unfairly blamed the singer when he didn't play his best - but never said anything to her when he played well. 'During the time I was with him, he had three hail marys, I think two NFC championships - not wins - but he made it into the NFC championship, which is very hard,' Olivia said. 'No one would want to talk about that. I didn't get credit for any of the wins,' she said. Olivia said: 'There's this whole big narrative that stayed with me for so many years, but there was just this dynamic in the family that had nothing to do with me. It became this whole big thing, and people were like, "I can't with her, she's keeping this family apart."' 'People have speculated for many years what was the rift, and I know, but I'm not saying because it's not my story to tell,' Olivia revealed. In 2024, Aaron finally cleared the decade-long rumor that she caused his estrangement with his family. In an interview for the book Out of the Darkness: Mystery of Aaron Rodgers by Ian O'Connor, he said that his 'deep-rooted' family issues have 'nothing to do with' Olivia. Olivia said when he had made those statements, she was in the midst of her cancer treatment for breast cancer, and that she appreciated he said it. 'Thank God somebody had read it and said, "Oh wait! Aaron speaks. You've been asking for the longest time. This is the constant conversation. The man himself is saying it. They don't want that answer... I was really grateful that he did that. Even if people didn't want to take hold of that statement, it made me feel good that he it was said.' Aaron's estrangement with his family was revealed in 2016 after his brother Jordan talked about it on his Bachelorette stint. Soon after dad Ed confirmed the estrangement in an interview with The New York Times. One year after Olivia and Aaron split, Olivia revealed on Andy Cohen Live that Aaron and his family didn't speak for 'months before we started dating.' She said she supported him mending the relationship, and encouraged him to reach out to them via phone. During Olivia's relationship with Aaron, she also spoke candidly about their sex life, which his mom Darla 'disapproved of' due to her religious views. Andy had asked her if they abstained from sex on game days during the Plead the Fifth segment in December 2014. 'No we don't. Not on game day. There's not a rule, but it just doesn't happen because there's other things to focus on.' 'If he plays well, do you have sex after the game?' Andy asked. 'Depends on how late the game is. Usually I try to have sex as much as I can,' she joked. 'There's no rules. It usually doesn't happen because there's a lot to do,' she added. 'I will say that all the good luck charms are on the field and in the stands so it has nothing to do with me.' Olivia and her husband John recently became parents of two - the couple welcomed their second child together, a daughter Méi June Mulaney who was born via surrogate September 2024. The couple, who wed in July 2024, also share three-year-old son Malcolm together. Olivia has undergone five surgeries since being diagnosed with luminal B breast cancer in both breasts in 2023 - including the full hysterectomy and full double mastectomy. 'You fought so hard for this second baby too... and you've had this major surgery where you took out your ovaries, your uterus, had an egg retrieval. And that is it's own journey,' Today correspondent Savannah Guthrie noted. Olivia went on to describe how 'scary' it was receiving the breast cancer diagnosis while also actively trying to expand her family with John. 'We were planning on trying to have another baby. So at that point, I said, "I need to freeze more eggs." I'd already frozen eggs in my 30s but I just didn't know if they were any good because I didn't turn them into embryos. 'So, I said to John, I need to freeze more eggs or get more eggs out. And that's going to put me at risk because I'm going to put more hormones in my body and that's what feeds my cancer.
