Shannen Doherty's famous friends post heartbreaking tributes a year after her death

One year after Shannen Doherty died of breast cancer, her loved ones are remembering the Charmed and Beverly Hills, 90210 actor. On Sunday, July 13, stars like Sarah Michelle Gellar, Rose McGowan, Holly Marie Combs and Tori Spelling shared a series of tributes to their friend on social media. Gellar posted a video montage of photos with Doherty, showing them sharing hugs, riding horseback and baking pies, among other personal moments. The compilation was set to Wiz Khalifa's See You Again and captioned with a broken heart emoji. Charmed star McGowan shared a throwback photo of Doherty sporting all black with blown out hair and a cigarette in her mouth. 'You are missed #shannendoherty,' she wrote over the photo. McGowan also reposted a story showing her and Combs standing with Doherty, writing, 'One year today you had to fly, but we on the physical plane of existence, think about you every day with love and gratitude.' She added a dove and heart hands emoji. Tori Spelling shared a series of throwback photos in honor of Doherty, as well as a lengthy tribute. 'It's been a year,' she began in the post. 'Grief is weird. It presents itself in different ways and at different times but never fades. Just like your memory. In fact, it burns epically in my soul more and more as the days pass.' Spelling said she's now living in the 'after' of their friendship story and shared a series of lessons Doherty taught her. 'You always told me to stop apologising for myself. To stop playing small. To stop trying to be palatable when I was born to be powerful. You taught me to turn my power on and let it shine,' she wrote. Over the past year, Spelling said she's honored Doherty 'by telling the truth louder. By choosing softness when I could've chosen armor. And by saying 'no' more than I ever used to — because you would've.' 'This isn't closure. This is continuation. And I promise — the torch you passed is lit. And it's not going out,' she concluded the post, calling Doherty her 'warrior friend', adding, 'Stay wild. Stay rebellious. Your power is your cause'. Doherty died July 13, 2024, at 53 after a long journey with breast cancer, her longtime publicist Leslie Sloane shared in a statement at the time. The actor was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, then shared that she was in remission two years later. In 2020, she announced that the cancer had returned as Stage 4.

Tori Spelling Removes Implants, Turns Them Into Decor

After revealing that people 'always give [her] shit' about the appearance of her breasts and how they look "wrecked", Tori Spelling shed a little insight on her past procedures, and the struggles she's dealt with because of them. During Monday's episode of her MisSpelling podcast, Tori answered fan questions, authentically and vulnerably, on how she feels about her breasts, the medical condition that makes her chest look sunken in, and her thoughts on implants now. She was diagnosed with pectus excavatum, sometimes referred to as "funnel chest," which is a condition that causes the center of her chest to "look like it's been scooped out," according to Mayo Clinic. 'It's a bone thing, and it's genetic," she revealed. "Some of my kids have it as well. Obviously, it ran in my family, and it's just, like, your bone plate is raised higher. So there's no way to ever fill in that gap. It was just something I was born with. But I hate when they're like, 'Oh God, your boobs are wrecked. Look at that.' I'm like, 'No, those are my bones. They're not wrecked. They're me.'' The 52-year-old mother of five recalled not even knowing what size her breast implants were at one point, but 'they were, like, twenty years expired and needed to be redone, which I didn't know when I did them the first time that that would ever be the case. I was young and didn't understand.' 'I got to say, I don't know. I don't love my boobs,' Tori said. 'I was hoping this time, when I got them redone, because I needed to get them redone, like medically, I was hoping that they would be smaller.' But she's never liked the way they looked in clothing, and while 'I don't believe in regrets, if I could go back and tell my, like, 19-year-old self, I would never have gotten my boobs done. I look at my old boobs, and I'm just like, 'Oh my God. They were great.'' When she was 19 years old, Tori had her boobs done in a strip mall. But memories of her old implants aren't all bad. In fact, she gifted them to her now-ex-husband, Dean McDermott, as an anniversary present one year. The two split in 2023 after 18 years of marriage. 'I made bookends out of them," Tori added. "You know I like to DIY. He said, 'Do you want these back?' And I said, 'I am offended.' And he's like, 'No. I didn't mean it like that. You know I've always loved them.'" 'He was like, 'You know, you could probably sell these on eBay.' I'm like, 'I would never.' And I was like, 'Wait. How much? How much do you think I can get for them? I'm just curious. Asking for a friend.'" Despite the criticism, I love that Tori still feels safe to speak openly about her implants and even poke some fun at herself every now and then. Tori Spelling shares ex's sex fantasy that creeped her out

Tori Spelling engaged in a spicy Q&A with her MisSPELLING fans in Monday's podcast episode. In the latest installment, cheekily titled Miss TMI, the 52-year-old star shared a shocking detail about her sex life with ex-husband Dean McDermott, 58. The former Beverly Hills, 90210 actress dished that her ex had a crush on her years before they met, and used to hurry home to watch her on TV. And when they were married she said she indulged him by briefly reviving her character Donna Martin. She detailed, 'At some point during one of our sessions, during sex, he said, "Oh, my little Donna Martin."' In response, she said, 'I might have giggled back like Donna.' She prefaced the anecdote by telling listeners, 'Dean, my ex, when we met, he was telling me that he had a big crush on me. 'He would always have his hockey game with all his buddies on Wednesday night, and he would always get out of there early. They'd be in the locker room [saying], "You gotta go home and see your girlfriend." 'He was like, "Yeah, no shame. I'm a guy watching 90210 and I have a crush on Tori Spelling."' The mother-of-five — who shares Liam, 18, Stella, 17, Hattie, 13, Finn, 12, and Beau, eight, with her ex — said she wasn't sure if Dean was was hyping up the crush just to flatter her until the intimate moment. 'I always thought, "Are you just making that up to get with me?" But, no,' she said in hindsight. Despite playing along with her then-husband's fantasy, Tori admitted, 'If I [were] intimate with a man and he was like, "Will you role-play, like you act like Donna Martin?" that would really creep me out.' She filed for divorce from the Chopped Canada host on March 29, 2024, citing irreconcilable differences. The date of separation was listed as June 17, 2023. Spelling and McDermott tied the knot in 2006, but the final years of their marriage turned tumultuous, which Dean has taken responsibility for. 'All Tori's ever done, to this day, is want me to be happy and healthy and I inflicted a lot of damage and pain on that woman,' he admitted to in November 2023. 'I'm taking accountability for that today. And it's the biggest amend that I'm ever going to have to make,' he added. Spelling reignited her romance with advertising CEO Ryan Cramer in April. It came after she said on her podcast that she doesn't want to 'die alone,' during a tear-filled chat with guest Audrey O'Day. She cried at the time, 'I'm now 51 and single again with five kids, so I don't even know where I stand in the future. I don't want to be with somebody, but I do want to be. I just don't want to be alone.'

Tori Spelling writes heartbreaking tribute to 90210 co-star Shannen Doherty on first anniversary of her death

Tori Spelling shared her heartbreak at the loss of her friend Shannen Doherty on the one year anniversary of her former co-star's death on Sunday. The actress, 52, put aside her financial troubles on Sunday to remember her longtime pal who lost her life to breast cancer at age 53 in an emotional tribute on social media. Sharing a carousel of photos of herself and Doherty, Spelling wrote, 'It's been a year.' Continuing, she described her state of mind as she looked back at her loss. 'Grief is weird. It presents itself in different ways and at different times but never fades. Just like your memory. In fact, it burns epically in my soul more and more as the days pass.' 'You and I already told the beginning of our story. The evolution of our story. Now I'm living the after,' she went on. The influencer then wrote about the lessons she had learned from Doherty. 'You always told me to stop apologizing for myself. To stop playing small. To stop trying to be palatable when I was born to be powerful,' she wrote. 'You taught me to turn my power on and let it shine. Some people will sit in the uncomfortableness of the brightness while others will be empowered by my flame.' Spelling said she has used that knowledge revealing, 'This year, I've tried hard to be the power you believed I could be.' 'I'm not afraid to say while I made progress in many ways I failed in others. But failure is a lesson not a sentence on our journey.' 'I've honored you by telling the truth louder. By choosing softness when I could've chosen armor. And by saying 'no' more than I ever used to—because you would've.' After sharing that she would continue to pass the torch, Spelling ended her message on a positive note, 'stay wild. stay rebellious. your power is your cause.' The pair met in 1990 when they both worked on Beverly Hills 90210. Doherty was fired from the show in 1994, but they two maintained a strong friendship, in spite of the ups and downs in each of their lives. Spelling included a black and white graphic with the saying bolding printed on it at the end of the carousel. Doherty died at the age of 53 after years of living with breast cancer. The star, who played Brenda Walsh in the hit 1990s show, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. Just two years later, the Charmed star revealed that the cancer had returned after going into remission. In October 1990, Doherty starred in the original Beverly Hills 90210, but left the series after the fourth season in 1994. She came back to the show as a guest star in 2008 after it rebooted. Following the popular series, she went on to star in the witch drama, Charmed. Doherty played Prue Halliwell, the oldest of the three witch sisters. After directing several episodes of Charmed, Doherty left the series in 2001. She then moved on to reality television, as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars and in the show Breaking Up with Shannen Doherty. She joined the 2019 reboot of 90210 and played the adult version of Brenda Walsh.
