Two Dubai Restaurants Make it to World's 50 Best Restaurants

Two Dubai-based restaurants made it to the 2025 World's 50 Best Restaurants, and they are Tresind Studio and Orfali Bros. The annual list was revealed in Turin, Italy. Tresind Studio ranked 27th in the list, while Orfali Bros ranked 37th. Both restaurants had made it to the list last year, with Tresind ranking 13th and Orfali ranking 64th. Both restaurants are the only restaurants from the Middle East to make it to the list this year. This ranking follows Tresind Studio earning its third Michelin star in May this year. Tresind is an Indian-fusion restaurant run by head chef Himanshu Saini, which is located on the Palm Jumeirah.

World's 50 Best Restaurants 2025: This Indian Cuisine Restaurant Ranks 6th Best In The World

The list of the World's 50 Best Restaurants 2025 is out - featuring the 50 most iconic restaurants from 22 countries, chosen by 1,120 international restaurant industry experts. The 23rd edition list was revealed on June 19 in Turin, Italy. Two Indian cuisine restaurants are a part of this prestigious list, impressing the world with their gastronomical delights. Interestingly, the World's Best Restaurant is in Peru, offering a fusion of Japanese and Peruvian cuisine. Gaggan, in Bangkok, by famed Chef Gaggan Anand, has been named the 6th Best Restaurant in the World and the Best Restaurant in Asia 2025. This is the restaurant's third consecutive year on the list of the World's 50 Best Restaurants. Appreciating the restaurant, the World's 50 Best said, "Music, colours and creativity combine on the menu, which is anchored in progressive Indian, with French, Thai and Japanese influences. From using emojis to represent each of the courses to pushing diners to eat with their hands or even lick the plate, chef Gaggan Anand wants to disrupt and reinvent the traditional fine-dining experience." Tresind Studio in Dubai, helmed by Chef Himanshu Saini, became the 27th Best Restaurant in the World and The Best Restaurant in the Middle East 2025. Located on The Palm Jumeirah, dining at Tresind Studio can be a dramatic experience. About Tresind Studio, the World's 50 Best says, "As you progress through the tasting menu, expect to be relocated to different areas of the restaurant, each carefully curated to match the plates in front of you." The restaurant is led by chef Mitsuharu 'Micha' Tsumura and the name 'Maido' refers to a Japanese phrase used to greet people. It's the first thing diners hear when stepping into the restaurant. "Maido increasingly references ingredients and traditions from the vast Peruvian Amazon, with courses like the miniature jaune parcel of pork jowl and palm heart that nods to a rainforest staple, snacks of 'ham' made from sustainable paiche fish, and yucca served with Amazonian beans," the World's 50 Best notes. Dubai's Tresind Studio and Orfali Bros on World's 50 Best Restaurants list again

Orfali Bros and Tresind Studio are among the World's 50 Best Restaurants. The annual list was revealed on Thursday night in Turin, Italy. Tresind Studio ranked at No 27 (down from No 13 last year), while Orfali Bros re-entered the list at No 37 (up from No 64), making them the only restaurants from the Middle East to make it into the prestigious ranking. In May, fusion-Indian restaurant Tresind Studio earned its third Michelin star after what head chef Himanshu Saini described as a 'marathon' effort by his team of 'champions' over the past few years. The immersive dining restaurant opened in 2018. Saini first made headlines in 2022, when Tresind Studio – which is located at St Regis Gardens on Palm Jumeirah – made it on to both the debut Mena's 50 Best list (coming in at No 4) and the Middle East's first Michelin Guide (earning one star, before another in 2023 and a third this year). Orfali Bros – run by Syrian brothers Omar, Mohamad and Wassim – topped this year's Mena's 50 Best Restaurants, making it the third time in a row that the Michelin-starred restaurant has won the honour. Located at Wasl 51 Mall in Jumeirah 1, Orfali Bros serves Mediterranean cuisine with a global influence. The creativity of its fusion fare is evident in dishes such as foie gras with quince vinegar and hazelnut miso; umami eclair with porcini emulsion, Marmite, cacao nibs and beef prosciutto; and adobo chicken wings. Can Sadhya—the quintessential Kerala meal with 24-28 dishes—be compressed into a bite-sized delight? While most would say, not possible, 'why not', thought chef Himanshu Saini. At his Dubai restaurant Tresind Studio, he did just that. There are layers of grilled pineapple marinated in Indian spices, cream of rice, payasam, mango pickle, banana vinegar, cuddapah almonds, second press of coconut ice cream, grated sugar spiced stone, mela blossom flower that is served with a papadum and tomato broth tempered in southern spices. All bit by bit, layered to perfection so you can experience a myriad of flavours when you pop it in. Little wonder that this spirit of innovation created culinary history by making it the first Indian restaurant ever to receive the coveted three Michelin stars in the Michelin Guide Dubai 2025. For someone whose food journey began in the heart of Old Delhi, where he grew up in a multigenerational home, being a chef was not part of his initial plans. 'But I found my footing at the Institute of Hotel Management in Aurangabad, where I discovered my passion and met lifelong collaborators. That experience taught me how to push boundaries while honouring the essence of Indian cuisine,' says Saini, who later trained under Chef Manish Mehrotra at Indian Accent in 2008. The same spirit of innovation led him to Dubai in 2018, where, with the support of Bhupender Nath, the CEO and Founder of Passion F&B, he started Tresind and eventually opened Tresind Studio—a fine dining concept rooted in Indian tradition but unafraid to break the mould.

The crowd erupted in cheers as Tresind Studio was named a three-star winner at the Michelin Guide's fourth Dubai ceremony, along with another Dubai restaurant -- FZN by Bjorn Frantzen. It also marks the first time restaurants in the United Arab Emirates received the top Michelin rating. "Today I realised what is the word called 'only' and how heavy it is when we are awarded (the three stars) as the only Indian restaurant," said Bhupender Nath, founder of Tresind Studio. Chef Himanshu Saini, 38, said he felt "proud" that the fine-dining restaurant had made history. "I hope this motivates all the younger upcoming chefs," he said, adding, "it's a dream which is possible". "I think it's a great time for Indian food". Michelin guide international director Gwendal Poullennec called the chef a "pioneer" who had paved "the way for many more talents to join the industry in India". On its website, the restaurant said it aimed to challenge common perceptions of Indian cuisine "by showcasing flavours both new and familiar through a creative lens". The eatery with just 20 seats and an open kitchen located on the Palm, Dubai's famous man-made island, said it favours ingredients locally sourced from organic and sustainable farmers in the UAE. "Tresind Studio in Dubai has just made culinary history, becoming the first-ever Indian restaurant to earn Three MICHELIN Stars," the Michelin Guide said on its website. "While the Michelin Guide is not in India, the global spotlight is brighter than ever. Indian chefs in cities from London to Dubai have been rewriting the playbook, fusing time-honoured flavours with boundary-pushing techniques," it added. In 2022, 11 Dubai restaurants were awarded the first Michelin stars in the Middle East as dozens of the city's eateries made it into the prestigious gastronomic guide. Created in 1900 by the brothers Andre and Edouard Michelin of tyre company Michelin for motorists, the guide has become a reference for food lovers and has been known to make or break careers. Most UAE residents are foreigners and it is home to around 3.5 million Indian nationals -- the largest expatriate community in the Gulf country.- AFP
