WWE star demonstrates how broken finger 'still won't bend from knuckle to tip'
To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video WWE superstar Bianca Belair has shown the extent of her 'complicated' recovery after breaking her fingers over three months ago. The 36-year-old star suffered the gruesome injury during her Triple Threat match with Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky at WrestleMania 41 in April 2025, and has been out of action ever since. Bianca, who appears in Netflix's new docu-series WWE Unreal, returned to the ring as a special guest referee for Naomi and Jade Cargill's match at Evolution a couple of weeks ago, but she exclusively showed Metro the extent of the the issue. 'Right now the finger, it's fully healed, but the problem is that it won't bend from the knuckle to the tip,' she said, before demonstrating on camera. 'Trying to get in the ring to wrestle like this, it's just sticking out there. So right now, we're working on that aspect. So it's been a lot more complicated than I thought. 'We're just sticking in there.' Wake up to find news on your TV shows in your inbox every morning with Metro's TV Newsletter. The EST of WWE confirmed while the break is 'fully healed', now she's focused on 'getting the mobility back and getting it into a safe place'. 'I'm in rehab and therapy nonstop, so we're working on it,' she smiled. The pain and struggles that come with being a WWE superstar will be on full display in Unreal on Netflix, as the series gives viewers an unprecedented peek behind the curtain. In that same spirit, Bianca opened up on how Rhea – who also features heavily in the series recounting her own injury setbacks – helped her finish the WrestleMania match. 'I felt it immediately, but I thought I had broke all my fingers, and it took Rhea to really snap me out of that moment,' she said. 'I was just rolling around in pain. And she's like, 'Ay! Ay!' And I'm like, 'Oh, sorry, we have to finish this match!' ' At one point in the documentary, Bianca – who is famous for handmaking every single one of her wrestling outfits – accidentally stabs herself with a needle as she finishes her Elimination Chamber gear at the last second. 'I'm always poking myself with needles, and I'm anxious. It's just crazy chaos backstage, and it's amazing to see all that,' she said. 'And then when we go out there, nobody even knows the chaos that was happening.' It's these kinds of struggles that Bianca hopes WWE Unreal can shine a light on. Asked which preconceptions she hopes the series can get rid of, she said: 'The general idea of wrestling just being fake. Is it scripted? Yes, it is. But there's so much realness that goes into it. 'It's a lot of hard work. It's an engine. From the production and creative, trying to write storylines, and then injuries happen, and us having to pivot, and go with the flow.' That's proven true for Bianca as she recovers from her injury. Despite the lingering issues, she recently returned as the special guest referee for the No Holds Barred match between Jade and Naomi. 'I get more nervous refereeing than actually having a match. I've gained so much respect for the referees,' she admitted, having also refereed a match between Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky earlier this year. 'You can completely mess up the match just being the referee,' she explained, and in WWE Unreal it's explained how the referee is essentially the bridge between the wrestlers in the ring, and the producers backstage. 'You're such an integral part of the matches. People, a lot of times, don't realise that,' Bianca pointed out, while recalling an awkward moment the first time she put on the stripes live on Monday Night Raw. 'The battery pack kept falling out,' she laughed. 'At the same time as you're trying to ref and you're trying to count and you're trying to make sure that you're in the right spot, you also have people in your ear talking to you from backstage.' These kinds of secrets being spilled are well known by diehard fans, but even they have never seen the realities of wrestling laid out like they are in WWE Unreal. Bianca is no stranger to reality TV, but she admitted there was a certain level of nerves going into pulling back the curtain so far. 'You're not really your Bianca Belair character. You're frustrated, you're anxious, you're nervous,' she said. 'It was really nerve wracking sometimes to pull that curtain back and have that camera in our face in that type of way.' However, she hopes the end results will be a 'newfound respect' for wrestling – and specifically the women involved. More Trending 'As a woman, we're in there wrestling, just like everybody else, we're putting on amazing matches, and showing the art and skill of what we do,' she said. She added: 'I think that a new found respect is going to be had for wrestlers when this documentary comes out.' View More » All five episodes of WWE Unreal are coming to Netflix on July 29. WWE Raw Results: Roman Reigns And Jey Uso Reunite, Latino World Order Wins & More
Last Updated: Here's how this week's Monday Night Raw shaped up. In the latest episode of WWE Raw, which was streamed live from Houston, Texas, on Monday, July 21, Roman Reigns made his first appearance since his surprise return to the WWE scene after a prolonged break last week. The fans were also glued to the Women's Tag Team Championship Match and an intense No. 1 Contender Triple Threat Match, apart from other exciting battles. Here's how this week's Monday Night Raw shaped up. Roman Reigns Appearance We inched one step closer to the much-anticipated SummerSlam Tag Team battle between the Reigns-Uso pairing and Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker with a thrilling closing segment, where Reigns made his first appearance after a surprise return to the scene last week. Despite the numbers disadvantage, Reigns stood tall against the trio of Paul Heyman, Bron Breakker, and Bronson Reed. The four wrestlers jeered each other before the verbal feud escalated into a physical altercation. Just as Reigns appeared to be outnumbered, Uso arrived and rescued the former Tribal Chief. Sheamus vs. Rusev Reigniting their action-packed rivalry, Sheamus battled out a men's singles contest against Rusev. It was a rematch of their encounter a few weeks earlier. The fans were captivated by the intense exchange between the two wrestlers in the middle of the match. In the dying moments, however, Sheamus came out triumphant after delivering his finisher. LWO Hammer, New Day, and The Creed Brothers Executing a pinfall, LWO won the No. 1 contender triple-threat tag team match against New Day and The Creed Brothers after Joaquin Wilde rolled up Kofi Kingston. The match saw an interruption from El Grande Americano, who ran in to attack Dragon Lee at the ringside before Creed told him to leave. Soon, however, Wilde ended the showdown by executing the schoolboy pin. Raquel Rodriguez & Roxanne Perez (c) vs Bayley & Lyra Valkyria A highly competitive Women's Tag Team Championship match saw Rodriguez and Perez team up against Bayley and Valkyria. The intense but chaotic battle saw multiple interruptions from Dominik Mysterio, who was eventually kicked out by Rodriguez. Even AJ Styles appeared as a medic attempting to revive Mysterio. An interruption also helped the Rodriguez and Perez duo after Becky Lynch ran in and took out Valkyria. The duo then overcame Bayley and retained their tag team titles. Karrion Kross vs Sami Zayn Karrion Kross' exciting duel with Sami Zayn saw the two wrestlers land heavy moves on each other before Kross came out victorious after hitting Zayn in the ribs with a steel pipe. Kross maximised help from Scarlett, who had attempted to hand Kross the pipe earlier in the match. He then executed the pinfall for the winning moment. Stephanie Vaquer vs Iyo Sky In what could've been a thrilling battle, the Vaquer-Sky match had to be disqualified, with Vaquer declared the winner, after interference by Chelsea Green. As the Secret Service came to the ring to distract Vaquer, Green attacked from behind. Sky and Vaquer then managed to toss the group outside the ring to resume their clash. However, Naomi attacked Sky from behind. Rhea Ripley's music started buzzing inside the arena as she attacked Naomi before Vaquer and Sky combined to hit Green. CM Punk Reveals 'Secret' WWE Rule
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. CM Punk has pulled back the curtain on the production of live WWE television, revealing what he calls one of the "secret rules" of professional wrestling. The rule explains how and when top superstars are allowed to go over their allotted time for a promo or match. In a new interview with Josh Lawless of SportBible, conducted to promote the upcoming Netflix docuseries WWE Unreal, Punk gave a fascinating insight into the art of timing a live show. He explained that while WWE shows are meticulously timed, there is one major exception to the rule. The "Secret Rule" Of Going Long Punk stated that the unwritten rule is that a performer can go over their allotted time, but only if the segment is connecting with the audience on a high level. He contrasted this with a segment that is failing to get a reaction. "It's one of the secret rules. As long as it's really, really good, you can get away with it," CM Punk explained. "Going 20 minutes over and you suck, that's no good." The Art Of Timing A Live Show Live WWE broadcasts like Raw and SmackDown are complex productions that are timed out to the second. Producers and agents work with a "rundown sheet" that allocates a specific amount of time for each match, interview, and backstage segment to ensure the show hits its commercial breaks and ends on time. Going over your allotted time can have a domino effect, forcing other segments on the show to be shortened or cut entirely. More This is why only the most trusted and successful superstars are given the leeway to improvise and extend their segments. Punk, who delivered the legendary, time-bending "Pipe Bomb" promo in 2011, is one of the few who has earned that trust. More news: WWE News: Steve Austin Reveals Real-Life Vince McMahon Confrontation A Locker Room Leader's Mentality Punk also revealed that he often prefers to go shorter than his allotted time to help his fellow performers. He explained that a good locker room works together to ensure the best possible show. "I would rather go short than long," he said. "If Rhea [Ripley] is in the next segment, I can nudge here and be like, 'Hey, you guys need two minutes? I can give you two minutes'. That's the way a lot of the talent work together." He cited recent, lengthy segments involving The Bloodline and The Rock as examples of when it is right to go long. "When it's really good and the crowd's going absolutely banana for it – you can't really rush through it," he stated. He also mentioned the passionate overseas crowds, whose singing and chanting are special moments that the company has learned not to interrupt. Paul Heyman Explains Why He Betrayed Roman Reigns
WWE icon Roman Reigns, the Original Tribal Chief, lost the Triple Threat match involving CM Punk and Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 41 as his partner, Paul Heyman, decided to betray him. The aftermath of the Triple Threat match saw Reigns being written off TV after getting battered by The Visionary and Bron Breakker on RAW. After his three-month-long absence from the company, the former WWE champion made a comeback on this week's RAW. While no official information about his absence was revealed, it was said that Reign was away to welcome his 6th child. This rumour, however, was falsified by Reigns and his wife, Galina Becker. Ahead of his next appearance on RAW, Reigns has confirmed his intention to address his former associate, Paul Heyman, who betrayed him. In an interview with Metro, Heyman explained the reason behind his betrayal to Reigns. "I never think short term. I always think long-term. And the long-term to me was that Roman Reigns and I had accomplished everything that we could. 8. Paul Heyman turns on both Roman Reigns and Cm punk — Roman's era (@25_Saurav) April 30, 2025 "It was time for Seth Rollins to elevate himself to be declared the greatest in-ring performer of this or any other generation," he told the outlet. "The moment I laid the law down to Roman Reigns and CM Punk and handed the chair to Seth Rollins, the first thing that popped into my head was, Wow, this is an all-time WrestleMania moment. And now we're going to have to top it,' he further said. Heyman also explained his philosophy at work and what makes all his partners, be it Brock Lessner or Roman Reigns, similar. '[There is] a common denominator in anyone that I've had the privilege of working with closely – be it Brock Lesnar, be it CM Punk, be it Roman Reigns, be it Seth Rollins, be it Bronson Reed, Bron Breakker,' he explained. 'They rise to the occasion. They respond to the pressure, and it creates an environment in which they give you an even greater performance.' The moment Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman come face-to-face again is expected to be epic.

Paul Heyman Breaks Silence On Seth Rollins' Devastating Injury
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Paul Heyman has addressed the injury scare surrounding his client, Seth Rollins, which occurred at last weekend's Saturday Night's Main Event. In a new interview, Heyman downplayed the long-term severity of the situation while praising WWE's modern approach to handling injuries. Rollins suffered an apparent knee injury during his match against LA Knight on July 12th. The injury forced a last-second, unplanned change to the finish, with LA Knight picking up a surprise victory. Paul Heyman Downplays The "Big Deal" Speaking to SHAK Wrestling, Paul Heyman was asked about the status of Seth Rollins. The "Wise Man" seemed unconcerned, pointing to the fact that Rollins, as the current Mr. Money in the Bank, has plenty of time to recover. "Seth Rollins has until next June to cash in the Money in the Bank contract," Heyman said. "If his leg fell off in the ring, they would reattach it and he'd heal by next June. So until we're crashing into that deadline, I don't really see the big deal... I also kind of chuckle on the inside about how big of a deal was being made." A More Compassionate WWE Era Heyman used the situation to highlight what he sees as a major positive change in WWE's backstage culture under the new regime. He praised the company's modern medical protocols, which prioritize the long-term health of the talent. LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - APRIL 19: Paul Heyman (L) raises Seth Rollins' hand after his Triple Threat match victory over CM Punk and Roman Reigns during WrestleMania 41 at Allegiant Stadium on April 19, 2025... LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - APRIL 19: Paul Heyman (L) raises Seth Rollins' hand after his Triple Threat match victory over CM Punk and Roman Reigns during WrestleMania 41 at Allegiant Stadium on April 19, 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada. More"Pro wrestling was behind the times for many years. And you know the whole thing was if you get hurt, if you don't work, you don't get paid," Heyman explained (H/T to "I think it is a far more compassionate look for the longevity of the performer that we do have these protocols in place." He believes the quick action taken by officials during the match prevented a more serious outcome. He stated the protocol "enabled Seth Rollins to get out of the ring with whatever injury he sustained, instead of further aggravating that injury and making it 10 times worse." More news: WWE News: Steve Austin Reveals Real-Life Vince McMahon Confrontation A Troubling History For Seth Rollins The concern from fans is understandable given Seth Rollins' history with severe knee injuries. In 2015, a devastating tear of his ACL, MCL, and meniscus forced him to vacate the WWE Championship and miss WrestleMania. His history with knee problems makes any new injury to that area a major cause for worry. While there is still no official word on the severity of this latest injury, Heyman's comments suggest that, for now, the plan is for Rollins to heal and eventually use his Money in the Bank contract.
