Texas A&M junior will transfer to Oregon for her senior season
A few weeks after entering the college softball transfer portal, Texas A&M utility player Amari Harper is heading back to the west coast to finish her senior season with the Oregon Ducks. Her decision came as a surprise to Aggie fans, especially following the strong season the team had and Coach Trisha Ford's comments naming Harper as a key piece for the 2026 squad. Advertisement Despite breaking a finger and wearing a splint all season, Harper battled her way back into the lineup and consistently delivered timely hits. Her versatility in both the infield and outfield gave Coach Ford the flexibility to adjust the lineup when the offense began to struggle. The move to Oregon makes sense for Harper, a California native, as it allows her to play for a competitive team closer to home, where friends and family can easily attend games. She leaves Texas A&M with an impressive career slash line of .364/.471/.512, along with nine home runs and 85 RBI. Check out her official announcement on X below. Texas A&M softball lands commitment from Missouri Tiger LHP
Texas A&M softball lands commitment from Missouri Tiger LHP Texas A&M softball coach Trisha Ford just bolstered her bullpen with a key addition. On Tuesday afternoon, she secured a commitment from Missouri transfer Taylor Pannell, a veteran left-handed pitcher with three years of SEC experience. Pannell's arrival helps offset the loss of ace Emiley Kennedy and reliable reliever Emily Leavitt, both of whom graduated. While best known as an elite closer, Pannell also showed promise as a starter last season. Against Texas A&M, she surrendered eight hits in a 4–3 loss but battled through 8.1 innings before giving up a walk-off home run to Amari Harper. With a career ERA of 2.75, 123 strikeouts across 129.2 innings, and 84 appearances, Pannell has a proven track record. She's tied the NCAA single-season saves record with 15 in 2024 and holds the NCAA career saves record with 24. Her versatility to pitch at any point in a game makes her a valuable addition to a bullpen in need of experience. Below you can see the official announcement on X. Texas A&M Softball is Trending Over Embarrassing History
History was made Sunday night in College Station — but not the kind Texas A&M fans wanted. The No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Softball Tournament is officially out. Texas A&M was stunned by Liberty in a decisive Game 7 of the regional round, falling 6-5 in front of a stunned home crowd. Advertisement In doing so, the Aggies became the first top seed ever eliminated before the Super Regionals since the tournament's seeding format began in 2005. Liberty, on the other hand, earned its first-ever trip to the Super Regionals and did so by knocking off the tournament's biggest favorite in dramatic fashion. Just hours earlier, A&M had forced the do-or-die showdown with a win over the Flames to stave off elimination — but they couldn't complete the comeback. Softball fans and Aggies alike were quick to light up social media in the aftermath. 'Okay this is actually getting depressing now,' one fan said. Advertisement 'A&M in SEC Purgatory,' another added. 'Wow. Well, misery loves company. They obviously wanted to top the baseball team,' said another, referencing the Aggies' baseball struggles this season. 'Whoa. Unbelievable. They just can't get it done on the big stage,' one fan wrote bluntly. 'They simply cannot handle any measure of success. Scientists should study this phenomenon,' another posted. After an impressive regular season that earned them the top overall seed, the Aggies were poised to make a deep run. Texas A&M head coach Trisha Ford talks to pitcher Sydney Lessentine.© Aaron E. Liberty moves on to face the winner of Oregon and Stanford in the Super Regionals. Texas A&M, meanwhile, will have to sit with this one — a historic collapse that won't soon be forgotten. Aggie fans and media react to Texas A&M's Regional loss to Liberty in the NCAA Tournament
Aggie fans and media react to Texas A&M's Regional loss to Liberty in the NCAA Tournament The Texas A&M softball team faced a heartbreaking defeat, losing a must-win game 6-5 to Liberty. This historic loss makes them the first No. 1 seed to miss the Super Regional since the format's inception. It was a tough end for the seniors, who capped their collegiate careers in Aggieland after an impressive season leading up to the NCAA Tournament. While fans hold mixed feelings about the season, the future remains bright. Several juniors and underclassmen have taken on key roles under head coach Trisha Ford. However, defensive and pitching struggles allowed Liberty to capitalize, securing their first-ever Super Regional appearance. For the Aggies, it's back to the drawing board. With the transfer portal open, Ford faces the challenge of filling roster gaps, particularly in pitching, following the departures of Emiley Kennedy and Emily Leavitt. As Ford oversees pitching duties, adding an extra set of eyes could be beneficial, given the team's ongoing struggles in that area over the past three seasons. Despite this setback, Ford and her staff have firmly positioned Texas A&M softball on the national stage. With continued support and resources, the program has the potential to remain a contender for years to come. For now, the Aggies must regroup after their devastating home-field loss, while social media voices its opinions loud and clear. Congratulations to Coach Dot and Liberty on a hard-fought win The No. 1-seed falls for the first time in history Coach Ford will regroup and come back strong Devastating loss to end the season There were some things to criticize in the loss, but they will learn and get better This was probably the biggest upset in softball regional history Liberty is headed to their first Super Regional in program history Former Texas A&M star Tori Vidales was shocked at the outcome Heartbreaking loss Aggie fans had a tough spring, but the Softball team had several great moments this season Sunday's games were one of the best games of the regional round. But an 11-1 run by the Aggies over the next four innings gave them an 11-7 edge heading into the bottom of the seventh. There, Liberty scored three runs in four at-bats to pull within one score, 11-10. With the bases loaded, Liberty senior Alyssa Henault walked up to home plate to face pitcher Kate Munnerlyn. With the bases loaded and two outs, the pressure was at its peak. The count grew to 3-2, and a flyout by Liberty senior KK Madrey sent the game to extra innings, allowing Aggies fans to finally catch a breath. Texas A&M scored three runs in the top of the eighth, while holding Liberty to three straight outs in the bottom of the eighth, to keep the super regionals hopes alive.
