Auston Trusty admits Celtic gut punch leaves a sour taste but an increased appetite to put things right

The American can't deny Aberdeen Scottish Cup Final shock still hurts but gives Hoops the hunger to finish the job this season Auston Trusty admits missing out on the Treble felt like a punch in the guts. ‌ But the Celtic ace insists the champions have the stomach for another crack at the clean sweep after the Scottish Cup sickener. ‌ Brendan Rodgers ' men romped the Premiership having already pocketed the Premier Sports Cup earlier in the campaign. ‌ The Treble was in their sights against an Aberdeen side Celts had battered from pillar to post all season. The Dons ripped up the script though at Hampden to humble the Hoops and send them into the summer feeling down in the dumps. Trusty admitted it wasn't the finale they had in mind – but it's only got the squad riled up for another tilt this term. Celts kick off their Premiership title defence against St Mirren on Sunday. And Trusty has warned the Parkhead men mean business. ‌ The USA star said: 'It's an interesting one. You have such a good season, get so many points to win the league by a distance, yet somehow end on a sour note. 'That's the level and what this environment is about. You can have an amazing season but if you have the team to win a Treble and don't do it, it does leave a sour taste in the mouths. ‌ 'It makes us strive for more. 'I try to think about the positive side. At least for that to happen, we have the hunger in our stomachs to really go for the Treble. 'It obviously sucks not to have won it. But if we can do the same thing and more this season then we'll be in good hands.' ‌ Trusty is gearing up for the big kick-off but he knows there's another huge clash coming over the horizon. Celtic's will face a Champions League play-off to reach the group stage this season and failing to get back to the big time doesn't bear thinking about. Rodgers's men will be in the hat for Monday's draw and they could face several dangerous opponents with the likes of Malmo, Sturm Graz and Slovan Bratislava hanging around and a fair few others. ‌ Trusty relished competing at the top level last term – and insisted the Champions League was the making of him. The former Sheffield United and Arsenal defender produced a heroic display in the goalless draw in Atalanta on the back of the punishing defeat to Borussia Dortmund that got the Hoops back on track and helped fire the Scots to the knockout stages. Trusty reckons the competition brings out the best in him and he's desperate to give Celtic's attackers the platform to go on the all out attack. ‌ He said: 'I loved every second. Every moment you get to play in the Champions League is a dream come true. 'I loved it. You are playing against the best players in the world – that's where I shine as well. 'I think as a player those games should bring the best out of you. You want to be at your best against the best players and teams in the world. ‌ 'I think Atalanta really got me off the books, got me off the mark. I just continued from there. 'I think performances like that can give players and the team a lot of confidence. 'We can be aggressive offensively if the guys know the defence rocks behind them. ‌ 'If you don't have that you tend to end up being a little too careful and slow in attack. 'We want to allow them to really go for it and have us in behind.' Celtic suffered a sore one against Ajax last week but there have been some positives in preseason to take into Europe – with strong displays in wins against Newcastle United, Sporting Lisbon and Al Ahli. ‌ Trusty said: 'Yeah, it comes around quickly. I think the Newcastle game gave us a lot of confidence for Europe. 'It really helped get us up to speed, likewise against Sporting Lisbon, Ajax and Al Ahli. 'These are good teams with quality players and it has put us in a good spot. We obviously have league games before then as well and they are hugely important. ‌ 'We can't control who we can get in the draw. We just have to be ready.' Trusty is looking to hit the ground running after impressing in preseason. The 26-year-old even popped up with a goal in the clash with Al Ahli at the weekend and while fans are worried about the lack of signings, the American is convinced the Hoops are in good shape for the opener. ‌ Trusty said: 'I enjoyed that one. I was in there and Jamesy (Forrest) was there at the back post and he took a tough and got it to me. 'A goal's a goal whenever it comes. I'll take it! 'Preseason has been good. Sometimes they can get a bit drawn out but this one has flown by. ‌ 'We had some gruelling sessions in the first couple of weeks but the games have come thick and fast. 'Overall we've worked on things as a team and we are in a really good place going into the season. 'We've got a strong squad. A lot of the guys are still here and there's great chemistry in the team, a lot of camaraderie.' ‌ Trusty enjoyed three weeks on the road with Celts in Ireland, Portugal and Italy but he was delighted to get him to his new wife and baby girl, born at the start of the summer. He said: 'There was a lot going on last season! 'I'm loving every second. My wife is an amazing mum and she's doing an amazing job. 'It's been hard missing out a bit through preseason as I've been loving every bit of it. 'Players are human beings and we're blessed to have this opportunity to play at a club like Celtic. 'But we still live regular lives and you have highs and lows, and everything in the middle. Like sleepless nights!'

Auston Trusty reflects on his 'special' Celtic honour

The central defender was handed the armband in the second 45 after usual skipper Callum McGregor was withdrawn. Trusty didn't start in his side's 2-0 win over the Portuguese champions, yet returned to the lineup when Newcastle United visited Parkhead on Saturday. The 26-year-old played until the 62nd minute, when he was replaced by Liam Scales. Read more: Trusty was named man of the match for his performance in the 4-0 rout. Taking to X after the match, the defender wrote: "Two wins, two clean sheets, and a man of the match performance! "A great way to close out the week against two strong opponents. As always, incredible support at home today and a special honour wearing the captain armband in Lisbon for Celtic." Two wins, two clean sheets, & a MOTM performance! A great way to close out the week against two strong opponents. As always, incredible support at home today & a special honour wearing the captain armband in Lisbon for #CelticFC 🍀 — Auston Trusty (@Auston_Trusty) July 19, 2025 Trusty joined Celtic from Sheffield United last summer in a deal reported to be worth £6 million. He made 37 appearances across all competitions during his first year at the club, despite losing his place in the team to Scales towards the end of the campaign. Having started pre-season in fine fettle, it remains to be seen what lies ahead for the United States international in 2025/26.

Trusty Raises $1 Million Pre-Seed to Bring Clarity to Estate Planning with Modern Letter of Wishes

TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Trusty, the AI-powered estate platform helping families manage, assign, and protect their wealth across generations, today announced the close of $1 million in pre-seed funding, co-led by Relay Ventures and Graphite Ventures, with participation from Mistral Venture Partners and strategic angel investors. The investment will accelerate Trusty's product development and go-to-market expansion across Canada and the U.S., with a focus on advancing its AI asset detection wizard, in-app AI assistant, and growing its proprietary workflows with partnered wealth and estate professionals. After co-founding and scaling Uberflip into a leading marketing platform, Randy Frisch is now applying his product and go-to-market expertise to a deeply personal mission: reimagining the way families plan for and talk about their legacy. With over $84 trillion expected to transfer between generations in the coming decades, coined 'The Great Wealth Transfer,' the need for a modern wealth transfer tool is critical. Estate plans, including wills, focus on the legal and tax side of planning, leaving a gap when it comes to personal assets and intentions. Today, people rely on handwritten Letters of Wishes, a paper-based workaround that's easy to lose and lacks the context and clarity heirs and executors need. Founded in 2024 and rebranded to Trusty in 2025, the company is on a mission to bring families a trusted platform to share their wishes; both legal and personal. Trusty brings clarity and ease to life's toughest moments so families can better understand their wills, track personal items, and pass down meaningful keepsakes. Using modern AI for image recognition, document analysis, and a conversational assistant named 'Max,' Trusty helps users digitize their valuables, make sense of legal documents, and record personal video messages for loved ones. 'I realized the need for Trusty after my grandmother passed away at 104, and I saw firsthand how emotionally and logistically complicated managing an estate can be, even in well-prepared families who have a will,' said Randy Frisch, Founder & CEO of Trusty. 'My own drawers were overflowing with important receipts, appraisals, and outdated estate documents that many of us forget we have. Wills don't tell the whole story, and the gaps from misplaced assets and unclear intent create confusion and conflict. Trusty makes it easy to share your wishes clearly and securely, so families are brought together, not apart.' 'I've been an executor myself, and I've seen the toll it takes when families are left without clarity,' said Aaron Bast, Managing Director, General Partner at Graphite Ventures. 'The legal documents are there, but the context is often missing—what's valuable, who it's for, where to find it. That's where Trusty comes in. It's designed to be the connective tissue that families and advisors have long needed.' 'We love backing category-defining technologies and leaders, and Randy is doing just that in estate tech with Trusty,' added Alex Baker, Managing Partner at Relay Ventures. 'Randy's blend of vision, founder experience, and product intuition makes this an easy bet for us and any family or advisor.' Trusty is designed to complement the relationships formed with wealth advisors, making it easier for families to share key information and intentions with the people they trust most. Already piloted with consumers, Trusty is now forming commercial distribution partnerships. Among the first is Purpose Unlimited, the financial services firm founded by Som Seif, which is exploring distribution of Trusty in alignment with its vision of 'shaping the future of finance by equipping financial advisors with transformative solutions.' Trusty is also partnering with banks, wealth teams, insurance providers, and estate planning professionals to integrate its platform into everyday advisory workflows. While Trusty is a consumer-first app, where individuals control their own data and choose what to share, it's also designed to become a core tool for advisors who want a clearer and collaborative view of their clients' estates. Celtic star Trusty unfazed by potential transfer competition

The American centre-back was signed from Sheffield United for £6 million on deadline day of last summer's transfer window. Despite making a strong start to his Celtic career, Trusty lost his place to Liam Scales towards the end of the season. When asked about Celtic potentially signing another centre-half, Trusty said [RecordSport]: "There is always competition for places at every team. Read more: "As you move up the ranks, there is always going to be competition wherever you go. "You want a good squad and a squad with depth, too. "Whoever is playing, and whoever they bring in, you have to have trust and faith in yourself." Reflecting on his first full year at Parkhead, Trusty said: "I felt it went extremely well. "I was unfortunate at times with some injuries which were bad timing. "But overall I feel extremely proud of last year. "I'm excited about this coming season too. "But I look back on my first year and it's extremely positive. "Winning two trophies and doing really well in the Champions League individually and as a collective makes it only positive."
