Zenvo Aurora Reveals An Even Prettier Look For Its Goodwood Reveal

At Monterey Car Week 2023, Danish automaker Zenvo revealed the new Aurora hypercar, and ahead of its debut at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the company has revealed some subtle changes to its design. Like the Keonigsegg Jesko twins, half of the Aurora's production run of 100 cars will be reserved for a track-focused, RWD Agil model, while the other half is for the AWD (and more powerful) Tur variant, which is meant to be a more comfortable cruiser. Zenvo has yet to show the changes as they translate to the former, which we'll likely see this weekend at Goodwood, so for now, let's see how the Tur has changed. You may need to squint. Zenvo didn't detail the changes, but closer inspection reveals a slightly altered front fascia where mesh now covers the grille openings, the hood has been reshaped, and the ends of the headlamps are now underpinned by more body-color material. At the rear, the diffuser is now larger and more curved, and the license plate holder has moved further down. It also looks like the rear deck has been extended slightly, which should further improve aerodynamic efficiency. McLaren's LT models and Koenigsegg's new Sadair's Spear have used this subtle change to great effect, but Zenvo has not updated any of the performance claims it initially made. Not that it needs to - the Aurora boasts some impressive numbers. Related: Maserati Teases MC20 Supercar Successor Ahead of Goodwood Debut Whether you choose an Agil or a Tur, you get a quad-turbocharged 6.6-liter V12 that revs to a frankly absurd 9,800 rpm and delivers 1,250 horsepower all on its own. This MAHLE-developed engine (called Mjølner) is the most powerful production V12 on the planet. Choose the Agil, and Zenvo fits an electric motor to the rear axle, adding another 200 ponies to the horsepower claim, but if you go for the touring variant, Zenvo puts a pair of electric motors on the front axle instead, giving the Tur AWD and a whopping 1,850 hp. Each take on the Aurora will provide its own experience, even if you take the aero out of the equation. The Agil claims 0-62 mph in 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 227 mph, while the slipperier Tur gets to 62 mph in 2.3 seconds and keeps going until 280 mph. On the track, the Agil should wipe the floor with the faster car, thanks to 1,940 lbs of downforce at 155 mph and 331 lbs less weight (2,866 in the Agil versus 3,197 in the Tur). Zenvo expects to begin deliveries of its $2.8 million Aurora in 2026, after which it intends to launch a smaller hypercar that will be a relative bargain at $2 million. Turkish magazine staff in custody over 'disrespectful' cartoon

ISTANBUL, TURKEY - Four staff members at satirical Turkish magazine LeMan were remanded in custody Wednesday over accusations they published a caricature of the Prophet Mohammed, a case that watchdogs have called an attack on press freedom. The four, who deny any link between the illustration and the prophet, were held as part of prosecutors' probe into what Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc called the "disrespectful drawing". He added that a warrant has been issued for two additional suspects who were abroad. The publication of the cartoon and arrests of staff at the opposition magazine led to clashes in Istanbul on Monday. News site T24 published the police deposition of cartoonist Dogan Pehlevan in which he said that he wanted "to talk about peace in this drawing" and condemned "provocateurs". "I have been drawing in Turkey for many years. The first rule you learn is not to address religious issues and not to mock religion," he said. "I have always adhered to this principle. I reject the accusations levelled against me," he added. The drawing in question shows two characters meeting in the sky above a city devastated by bombs. One is named Muhammed and the other Musa. "I just wanted to highlight the absurdity of war, to show that people can get along but do you have to be dead to realise that? That's my only message," he added. On Monday evening, a favourite haunt of LeMan staff in the Istiklal district of Istanbul was attacked. It escalated into a pitched battle between about 300 people, including people defending the magazine and furious at the arrests. On Tuesday, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called the cartoon a "despicable provocation" and a "hate crime" whose authors will have to answer for "disrespecting the prophet". 'POLITICAL OPPORTUNISTS' Despite a ban, some 300 people also gathered around Taksim Mosque in central Istanbul, shouting "don't forget Charlie Hebdo", referring to a deadly Islamist militant attack on the French magazine in 2015. LeMan's editor-in-chief Tuncay Akgun told AFP that the drawing in question "has nothing to do with the Prophet Mohammed", adding: "We would never take such a risk." "The character is a Muslim killed in Gaza... He was called Muhammed (like) more than 200 million people in the Muslim world," he said. In a joint statement, Turkey's TGS press union and professional organisations said they had "great concern" at the rise in attacks and "violent rhetoric" due to the publication. Media watchdog Reporters Without Borders, the international network Cartooning for Peace and the US association Cartoonists Rights condemned the attack on press freedom in Turkey. They called on the Turkish authorities to ensure the safety of the editorial team. Terry Anderson, of Cartoonists Rights, said the arrests were "based on a lie and are being exploited by political opportunists for intimidation and repression". "We demand the release of those detained and an immediate end to these baseless prosecutions," he added. Many Turks and press organisations drew a parallel with the attack on LeMan and the Sivas massacre in 1993, when a radical Islamist mob set fire to a hotel, killing 33 writers and artists mainly from the Alevi minority. The protesters had been angered by the presence of the writer Aziz Nesin who had questioned the authenticity of the Koran and also sought to translate Salman Rushdie's controversial novel "The Satanic Verses".

MSP boost: Procurement of moong and urad under price support scheme in MP, UP

New Delhi: Agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday approved a move to procure moong and urad in Madhya Pradesh and urad in Uttar Pradesh under the Price Support Scheme (PSS). PSS is usually implemented when prices of pulses, oilseeds and copra fall below the MSP (minimum support price) during peak harvesting periods, and is intended to ensure farmers receive remunerative prices for their produce. The decision was taken following a proposal received from the Madhya Pradesh government. Similarly, approval has been granted for the procurement of urad under PSS in Uttar Pradesh, said the government in a statement. The matter was discussed in a meeting attended by Madhya Pradesh minister for farmers' welfare and agriculture development Aidal Singh Kansana, Uttar Pradesh agriculture minister Surya Pratap Shahi, Union agriculture secretary Devesh Chaturvedi, and other senior officials. The MSP for summer moong (green gram) for the 2025-26 season has been increased to ₹ 8,768 per quintal from ₹ 8,682 in 2024-25. Also, the MSP for urad has been set at ₹ 7,800 per quintal for the marketing season 2025-26. This represents an increase of ₹ 400 compared with the previous year. Under PSS, farmers receive an MSP for their produce, particularly during periods of price decline. The scheme protects farmers' incomes and incentivizes pulse production. During a meeting in New Delhi, Chouhan stated that although the decision to procure moong and urad would place a significant financial burden on the central government, it is committed to ensuring farmers receive the intended benefits. He emphasized that it is crucial for the procurement process to be carried out properly. Direct procurement from farmers will reduce the influence of middlemen and ensure that the actual benefit reaches the farmers. Issuing directions to officials, he called for the use of the latest and most effective technologies for proper registration of farmers. He advised increasing the number of procurement centres if necessary and ensuring the entire process is carried out in a fair and transparent manner. Expressing concern over complaints of irregularities in storage, Chouhan urged the ministers and officials to take concrete steps to address the issue. He assured Uttar Pradesh's agriculture minister that the central government will make every possible effort in the best interests of farmers. The government has permitted procurement of Tur (Arhar), Urad, and Masur under the PSS up to 100% of the production of the respective state for the procurement year 2024-25, to incentivize farmers and enhance the domestic production of pulses while reducing the country's dependence on imports. Furthermore, in the Union Budget 2025, the government announced the continuation of this initiative for an additional four years, up to 2028-29, wherein procurement of these pulses will be undertaken up to 100% of state production through central nodal agencies—the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) and National Cooperative Consumers' Federation of India (NCCF)—with the aim of achieving self-sufficiency in pulse production.

MSP boost: Moong, groundnut procurement approved under price support scheme

Agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has approved a proposal to purchase 54,166 tonnes of moong and 50,750 tonnes of groundnut crops under the price support scheme (PSS). The PSS is usually implemented when prices of notified pulses, oilseeds and copra fall below the MSP (minimum support price) during peak harvesting periods, and is intended to ensure farmers receive remunerative prices for their crop. The minister also approved a 15-day extension of the procurement period in Andhra Pradesh till 26 June. While the groundnut will be procured from Uttar Pradesh for the summer crop season 2025-26, the moong will be procured from Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat, per a government media release. The MSP for summer moong (green gram) for the 2025-26 season has been increased to ₹ 8,768 per quintal from ₹ 8,682 in 2024-25. Also, the MSP for groundnut has been set at ₹ 7,263 per quintal for the marketing season 2025-26. This represents an increase of ₹ 480 compared to the previous year. In order to incentivize farmers and enhance the domestic production of pulses while reducing the country's dependence on imports, the government has permitted procurement of Tur (Arhar), Urad, and Masur under the PSS up to 100% of the production of the respective state for the procurement year 2024-25. Furthermore, in the Union Budget 2025, the government announced the continuation of this initiative for an additional four years, up to 2028-29, wherein procurement of these pulses will be undertaken up to 100% of state production through central nodal agencies, namely National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) and National Cooperative Consumers' Federation of India (NCCF), with the aim of achieving national self-sufficiency in pulse production. The Centre is implementing the integrated Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan (PM-AASHA) scheme, which encompasses the PSS, price deficiency payment scheme (PDPS), market intervention scheme (MIS), and price stabilisation fund (PSF). The overarching objective of this initiative is to ensure assured and remunerative prices for farmers' agricultural produce, thereby protecting their income and securing their livelihood against market fluctuations. To be sure, India follows three cropping seasons—rabi, kharif, and summer (or Zaid). The summer window, which runs from March to June, sits between the main rabi harvest and the onset of kharif sowing. These crops typically grow on irrigated land and have shorter growing cycles, making acreage trends a useful early signal of agricultural momentum.
