‘Mane Manege Police' initiative launched in Udupi district

Principal District and Sessions Judge Kiran S. Gangannanavar flagged off the Mane Manege Police (police at your doorsteps) initiative of Udupi District Police in Udupi on July 11. Speaking after launching the initiative, Mr. Gangannanavar said it was good to note police services would reach every household in the district. Appreciating the initiative, the judge hoped people would be made more aware of criminals lurking around them. The initiative was taken up following a government circular issued on July 4 to sensitise people to become cautious about criminals. Police personnel would go through the 27 points mentioned in the circular and visit households in their jurisdiction for the awareness campaign. They would spread awareness about cyber crime, crimes against children, substance abuse, and road safety tips. Police would also hear grievances if any, of the members of households they visit and try to solve them. They would note down names and telephone numbers of the senior residents of the households. Upon launching, police personnel visited 28 houses in Udupi town, 45 in Manipal, 30 in Brahmavara, and 25 houses in Kota to create awareness. The initiative would be taken up in all police station limits in the district over the next three months, said Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar.
