Kate Middleton makes 3-word quip about son Louis while out with Prince William
Although Kate Middleton and Prince William's children aren't often in the public eye, the couple often find ways to include them in their various outings. And when the young royals do step out with their parents, the youngest's personality is usually on display. Middleton and William share three kids together, 11-year-old Prince George, 10-year-old Princess Charlotte and 7-year-old Prince Louis. During this year's Trooping the Colour in June, Louis was seen showcasing that personality as his big brother George kept him in line. Charlotte and Louis went viral during 2024's Trooping the Colour when Louis was seen dancing and Charlotte demanded he pay attention. And although his older siblings are often correcting Louis, Kate seems to embrace her youngest child's personality. While visiting with French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte, on Tuesday, July 8, the famous couples toured the Royal Collection on display at Windsor Castle, People reported. And Louis was on Kate's mind. Inside the Green Drawing Room sat a portrait of a young King Louis XIV. King Louis XIV ruled France from 1643 until 1715. While looking at the portrait of the former ruler, Hello! Magazine reported that Kate cracked a joke about her son with the same name and her degree, saying 'I should know.' Middleton has a degree in art history from the University of St. Andrews, according to the National Arts Program. As Hello! Magazine reports, Middleton has 'a keen eye for portraiture.' Kate and William delighted fans on Louis' 7th birthday in April when they not only shared a new portrait of the young prince, but also a video that again showcased his personality that the public loves so much. 'Wishing Prince Louis a very Happy 7th Birthday,' the family wrote on their official account. After sharing the traditional new photograph, they went on to share the video seemingly starting a new tradition. The video highlighted Louis' personality, his adventurous side and his smile. Alongside film emojis, Kate and William simply captioned the video, '7 today!'

Prince William feared marriage and it almost cost him Kate Middleton — Royal expert reveals why
The Prince of Wales , Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton-- the Princess of Wales, have always gained much admiration from people for their love and respect for each other. From college-sweethearts to lifelong partners, William and Kate's royal love story has evolved over the years and the couple are now proud parents to three beautiful children. However, before getting married to Kate, though Prince William knew that she was the the woman he wanted to spend his life, he first had to overcome his hesitation about settling down, according to royal expert Katie Nicholl. As revealed in Marie Claire on June 29, the future King, now 43, made a heartfelt promise to Kate during a romantic trip to Desroches Island in 2007, shortly after they rekindled their relationship following a high-profile breakup. This was before Prince William officially proposed to Kate. In her book titled 'The Making of a Royal Romance', Nicholl writes, 'William, who inherited a fear of commitment from his father, understood he would lose Kate if he didn't offer her some form of assurance.' Though he wasn't yet ready for marriage, William expressed his deep commitment during the getaway. A close friend shared, 'William promised Kate he wouldn't let her down. She agreed to wait for him.' The couple, who met in 2001 while studying at the University of St. Andrews, dated for nearly a decade before getting engaged in November 2010. William proposed during a trip to Kenya, offering Kate Princess Diana's iconic sapphire engagement ring. He later reflected on the emotional moment in an interview with ITV: 'It takes a certain amount of motivation to propose, but it just felt right in Africa. It was beautiful. The ring was my way of keeping my mother close to it all.' The couple married in a globally televised ceremony at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011. Since then, they've built a beautiful family together, raising three children: Prince George (11), Princess Charlotte (10), and Prince Louis (7). Through highs and lows, William and Kate have stood strong—including one of their biggest challenges yet. In 2024, the Princess of Wales bravely announced her cancer diagnosis. Thankfully, in January 2025, she shared the uplifting news that she is now in remission. William and Kate's journey from college sweethearts to beloved royals has been full of devotion, challenges, and quiet strength. Their bond is a powerful reminder that true love is not just about fairy-tale proposals—but about patience, trust, and standing by each other through everything life brings. Edinburgh man takes on double marathon in memory of 'selfless' best friend
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info An Edinburgh man is taking on an 86-kilometre challenge in memory of his best friend who tragically died by suicide last year. Thomas Robertson, 20, is set to run from the University of St. Andrews to the school they both attended, Merchiston Castle School in Edinburgh, on Sunday, July 6 to raise vital funds for Scottish Action for Mental Health (SAMH). He has already raised an incredible £20,000 ahead of the challenge, which will be donated in honour of Finlay MacDonald. Thomas said: 'Finlay was an amazing friend to me. He was caring, loving, selfless, and all his priority was that everyone around him was okay. 'His passing was a massive shock and left me questioning why such terrible things happen to the best of people. It made me realise just how important mental health is and how much more needs to be done to support it. 'I wanted to start my run at Finlay's university in St Andrews, before finishing at our school in Edinburgh where we were classmates.' The money that Thomas raises from this epic challenge, which is longer than two back-to-back marathons, will go towards funding SAMH's Peer Supporter programme. This programme sets out to increase the mental health knowledge and skills of young people, parents and carers, volunteers and staff through free workshops and information sessions in schools. Sign up for Edinburgh Live newsletters for more headlines straight to your inbox He added: 'I wanted something that was going to resonate with Finlay, who struggled with mental health during school. SAMH's programme creates a really warm, safe environment where kids can just talk about mental health mental and help remove the stigma.' Catriona Wilson, Mass Participation Events Manager at SAMH, said: "We're honoured that Thomas has chosen to support SAMH with this incredible challenge. 'Our Peer Supporter programme has helped over 10,000 people in South Lanarkshire alone, and with the help of Thomas and everyone who has donated so far, at least 12 additional schools in Edinburgh will now benefit. 'By sharing his story, Thomas has also helped reduce the stigma around suicide and mental health. We can't wait to join his friends and family as we celebrate with him at the finish line on Sunday.' Thomas's challenge will finish at Merchiston Castle School with a lap of the school's cross country course and anyone wishing to join him on his run is welcome to at any time. Rev. Nick Blair, Chaplain at the school, said: "Community defines Merchiston. A year ago, we mourned with the MacDonald family after losing their beloved Finlay. Today, we unite again, supporting his close friend Thomas, whose fundraising effort in Finlay's memory is deeply moving. "The solidarity from old boys, parents, staff and pupils shows who we are: a community that stands together. It's also a moment to stress that young men must never feel ashamed to discuss their mental health. "Breaking silence saves lives. Today, we run with Thomas and raise our voices with SAMH, honouring Finlay and supporting vital mental health work." As well as raising funds, Thomas is also encouraging those suffering from mental health problems to ask for help. He added: "Reach out and ask for help. What I would look at as a strong man is someone who looks for help when they're struggling." You can donate to his fundraiser here. Judy Rankin says it's 'dreamlike' receiving honorary degree from University of St. Andrews
When Judy Rankin first received an email from the University of St. Andrews last December, she thought it was a prank and asked a couple friends to look it over. Six months later, when her day in Scotland finally arrived, 80-year-old Rankin said it felt like a dream being awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws (LLD) from the historic and prestigious school. Previous honorary graduates include Arnold Palmer, Renee Powell, Bob Dylan, Hillary Clinton and Dame Judi Dench. "I think almost anybody can imagine when this comes to your email one day in December, you can't think it's possibly real, why you and what did you do to deserve this," Rankin told Golfweek. "Let me just say I've enjoyed this as much as anything I've done in a very long time, maybe as much as anything I've ever done." Rankin, 80, won 26 times on the LPGA before blazing a trail in television. She covered five Open Championships at the Old Course, including Jack Nicklaus' farewell in 2005 and Tiger Woods' completion of the career grand slam in 2000. "I feel like I know this golf course like the back of my hand, and I only ever played it once," Rankin told the graduates, "but I've been around it with some of the really great players in the world, both men and women." Rankin was accompanied on the trip by good friend Sandra Post, the first Canadian to play on the LPGA, as well as close family friends from Midland, Texas. Her brother, sadly, had some travel woes. Rankin was on her own when she first arrived in St. Andrews. "Here it was OK to be myself," she said. "It was a little coming home of sorts. I'm sure there are lot of people in the game and lot of people in television who feel that way, too." Rankin turned pro at the age of 17 and has said that if she hadn't gone to the LPGA, she wanted to attend the University of Missouri and study journalism. As it turns out, she didn't need a degree to become a broadcast legend. For her speech – Rankin said it wasn't meant to be a "forever talk" – she thought about it a little bit over time and wrote down a few things the day before. 'Find joy in small things; as you age, they will stack up and it'll become a whole library of the small things that made you smile," she told the graduates. "And when you think back on them, they'll make you smile again. "Be grateful. Find contentment, and you will have a good life.'
