How to Watch Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 Debut at Unpacked

Samsung is gearing up to debut its next slate of foldable Galaxy Z phones, which likely includes follow-ups to last year's Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. It's also expected to unveil its next smartwatch, the successor to the Galaxy Watch 7. The company will host its Unpacked event next week, where it'll also show off Galaxy AI updates. Here's what you can expect and how to tune in. How to watch Samsung Galaxy Unpacked Samsung's summer Unpacked event will take place in Brooklyn, New York, and will be live streamed on the Samsung Newsroom, at and on Samsung's YouTube channel. Unpacked kicks off on Wednesday, July 9, at 7 a.m. PT (10 a.m. ET). CNET will be on the ground bringing you all the live updates. What to expect at Samsung's summer Unpacked Samsung's been teasing its upcoming foldables for the last several weeks. In early June, a Newsroom post pointed to the company bringing "an Ultra-experience" to "a smaller and more portable form factor." That apparently includes a "powerful camera" and "AI-powered tools." The following week, the company said in another blog post that its "newest Galaxy Z series is the thinnest, lightest and most advanced foldable yet." It appears to be following in the footsteps of the slim and lightweight Galaxy S25 Edge, which was released in May. Samsung seems to be especially focused on scaling the capabilities of its foldables' cameras with the help of AI. It noted in a subsequent blog post, "The camera will only get smarter -- helping users capture life's moments more vividly and make everyday experiences more seamless, personal and impactful." Samsung An animated invite for July's Unpacked event begins by showing the slim side profile of a device that then splits into two phones. One of these phones folds like a book, and on-screen text at the end reads "Ultra Unfolds." How many devices will Samsung unveil? It's possible Samsung could unveil the Galaxy Z Flip 7, Z Fold 7 and then the Z Fold Ultra, or perhaps the Ultra will be the only version of the Fold. There are also murmurs of a more affordable Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE phone. Leaker Evan Blass shared renders of the rumored device, which appears similar to the Galaxy Z Flip 6, but the phone could swap out the Snapdragon chip for an Exynos processor. Meanwhile, renders of the flagship foldable Galaxy Z Flip 7 suggest Samsung could nix the physical camera notch and opt for an edge-to-edge cover display. But we'll have to wait and see what the company has in store. There have also been rumors about the Galaxy Watch 8 making its debut at Unpacked. Samsung has already given a sneak peek at its new AI-powered sleep and fitness coaching, expected to debut alongside the next Galaxy Watch. New Android phone to be launched tonight ahead of Samsung's unveiling next week

This new Android phone is 'Nothing' like we have ever seen before. As we get further into the year, many tech companies are gearing up to unveil their newest and shiniest smartphones to enter onto the market. For instance, Android users are waiting in anticipation for Samsung to unveil its latest folding phones next week in New York at their Unpacked event. However, for those who are in the market for a sparkling new phone, then you may be intrigued by a new Android smartphone that is set to be launched this evening. As one of the newer Android brands to hit the market, fans of the older models are curious about what new developments are in store. ‌ Teased to fans through social media, UK tech firm Nothing is set to launch their new flagship phone today, Tuesday, July 1, at 6pm UK time, reports the Express. ‌ Fans of the new brand have been waiting in anticipation for an updated phone to be launched. This new device, the Nothing Phone 3, is set to follow the Nothing Phone 2 which was released back in 2023. However, this is not to say that the UK firm has gone radio silent over the past two years. The tech brand has also since launched the Phone 2a, 2a Plus, 3a and 3a Pro. Now getting round to unveiling the Phone 3, fans are excited as the Nothing phones are well known for their bold designs. Every model so far has featured a transparent rear made of glass or plastic. Through this, users can see programmable 'Glyph' lights and some of the phone's interior. However, it seems that the new Phone 3 will boast a new design as the company announced on X last month: "We killed the Glyph Interface". Instead, the rear of the new flagship Nothing phone is said to include a display called the "Glyph Matrix". ‌ Nothing has also teased fans with a series of posts on social media that feature close up details of the Phone 3, without revealing the full design. Additionally, it has been confirmed that the new phone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset. This does mean that the phone won't be as high end as flagship phones from Samsung, OnePlus and Honor, which run on Snapdragon 8 Elite. ‌ This different system may be how Nothing is able to keep its price for the Phone 3 lower in comparison to its competitors. However, the price has yet to be revealed, CEO and founder Carl Pei has given us a rough idea however, as he confirmed in a video that it will cost "somewhere around £800". In comparison, Samsung's Galaxy S25 is retailing for £799. ‌ Nothing has promised its fans that the Phone 3 will be its "first true flagship smartphone", but some people aren't fully convinced. Some people online are questioning how the phone can be a "flagship" if it's running without the 8 Elite chip. However, the chip doesn't fully determine a device's capabilities. The UK tech firm has also promised on X that the new phone will be equipped with a 50MP periscope zoom lens, which is similar to what can be found on the Phone 3a Pro that was released earlier this year. Additionally, if online hints are to be believed, Nothing may also be launching their first set of over-ear headphones as well this evening. While the brand has several earbuds already on the market, this would be their first move into over-ear models. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 vs. Galaxy Z Flip 6: What could change with this year's flip phone

With the Galaxy Unpacked July 2025 launch event a little more than a week away, it's time to consider a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 vs. Galaxy Z Flip 6 comparison. We're almost certain to see a new version of Samsung's foldable flip phone at Unpacked, so figuring out what's likely to change might help you decide if the new phone is right for you. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 is one of the best foldable phones out there, largely on the strength of its cameras. But it's facing increased competition, particularly from Motorola, which sells three newer foldable flip phones at a wide range of prices. To fight back, Samsung's going to need to find ways to improve upon the current model. To that end, Samsung will reportedly increase screen sizes on the Galaxy Z Flip 7 — both the interior panel, as well as the external cover display. We could also see a bigger battery, and we'll definitely get a new system-on-chip powering the phone — even if the exact chip Samsung chooses remains a mystery. Just ahead of the July 9 Galaxy Unpacked event, here's what a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 vs. Galaxy Z Flip 6 face-off looks like, based on what we've heard about the upcoming foldable. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 (rumored) Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 Main screen size 6.85 inches 6.7 inches Cover screen size 4 inches 3.4 inches Chipset Snapdragon 8 Elite / Exynos 2500 Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 RAM 12GB 12GB Storage 256GB, 512GB 256GB, 512GB Cameras 50MP main, 12MP ultawide, 10MP selfie 50MP main, 12MP ultawide, 10MP selfie Battery size 4,300 mAh 4,000 mAh There's no mystery as to when we're going to lay eyes on the Galaxy Z Flip 7 officially. Samsung has set a date of July 9 for this summer's Unpacked event. Last year, Samsung also held an Unpacked launch event in early July, giving us a look at its latest foldables at the time, including the Galaxy Z Flip 6. When the Z Flip 6 debuted, it featured a higher price tag than its predecessor. Samsung raised the price by $100 to $1,099, which got you a Galaxy Z Flip 6 with 256GB of storage. Pricing rumors for the Galaxy Z Flip 7 have been all over the map. After early claims that the new phone would match the Galaxy Z Flip 6's price, the latest rumor listing European prices indicates that Galaxy Z Flip 7 will be around €100 less than its predecessor. Then again, another rumor indicates a price hike over last year, so no one really knows what Samsung has planned. Furthering muddying up the outlook is the potential for a lower-cost version of the foldable flip phone, rumored to be called the Galaxy Z Flip FE. While we're focusing on a Galaxy Z Flip 7 vs. Galaxy Z Flip 6 comparison here, a lower-cost model with scaled-back specs would at least give Samsung fans a lower-cost option to challenge the $699 Motorola Razr (2025) and the $999 Motorola Razr Plus (2025). Galaxy Z Series: free $50 credit @ SamsungRegardless what Galaxy Z Flip 7 price Samsung settles on, you can get a $50 credit just by registering your name and e-mail address with Samsung ahead of Galaxy Unpacked on July 9. In addition to the $50 discount, you'll also be eligible for other pre-order deals on whatever devices are announced this month. You must register by July 8 to qualify. It sounds as if the Galaxy Z Flip 7 isn't likely to change much from the 6.5 x 2.83 x 0.27-inch size of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 when that phone is flipped open. Yet, rumors indicate that Samsung is going to try to add extra screen space, possibly by adding a few spare millimeters to the length and width of the Flip. The new phone should remain 6.9mm thin like its predecessor. According to rumors, the main screen of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is going to stretch to 6.85 inches, a modest increase from the 6.7-inch panel used by the Galaxy Z Flip 6. The bigger change is slated for the cover display, which leakers say will grow to 4 inches from the current 3.4-inch size. The bigger screens would be a good addition for Samsung to make with this year's Flip. Both the 2025 editions of the Motorola Razr Plus and Motorola Razr Ultra have 4-inch cover displays, which means you can do a lot more on those phones without ever having to flip them open. We're eager to see if Samsung can further reduce the visibility of the crease on the Flip's main display on the Galaxy Z Flip 6, the crease that appears where the phone folds in half looked more subdued than on previous models. And Samsung has been showing off a creaseless panel for future foldable phones, though it's unclear if that breakthrough came in time to be used for this year's update. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 came in four color options — silver shadow, yellow, blue, and mint — along with a few exclusive colors if you ordered directly from Samsung. So far we've just heard about three potential colors with the Galaxy Z Flip 7 — black, blue and "coral red." When it comes to cameras, there might not be much difference between the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and its predecessor. Rumors have indicated Samsung plans to use the same camera setup in its new phone as it did with the Galaxy Z Flip 6. That means a 50MP main camera joined by a 12MP ultrawide lines, with a 10MP selfie cam available when you flip open the phone. Considering that the Galaxy Z Flip 6 ranks as the best camera phone among foldable options, it's not necessarily a setback that the Z Flip 7 isn't likely to feature any advances. Still, you do like to see improvements year over year, so hopefully Samsung can offer improvements in photo-processing or low-light performance that give the new phone a little boost when it comes to capturing images. Rumors about which chipset Samsung plans to use for the Galaxy Z Flip 7 are all over the map. Typically, Samsung has used the best Qualcomm system-on-chip available — in the case of the Galaxy Z Flip 6, that meant a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Should Samsung stick with that approach, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 would be in line to use the same Snapdragon 8 Elite silicon found in this year's Galaxy S25 releases. If so, that would be great news, as Samsung uses an optimized version of that chipset, which produces excellent performance to go with superior power management features. However, the Snapdragon 8 Elite is a pretty expensive chip, and to keep costs down, Samsung may turn to its own Exynos system-on-chip for the Galaxy Z Flip 7. A newly introduced Exynos 2500 would be the likely candidate, and while it's a powerful chip in its own right, the top Exynos silicon tends to lag behind comparable Snapdragon chips in benchmark tests. At least one rumor claims that Samsung will feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite in the Galaxy Z Flip 7, but only in phones that ship to North America. In other rumors, Samsung uses the Exynos 2500 in all models of its foldable flip phones. Regardless of what chipset Samsung turns to, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 should support Galaxy AI, including all the AI-powered features introduced with this year's Galaxy S25 flagships. Our biggest question here is whether Samsung unveils new AI tools, specifically ones that take advantage of the foldable design of the Flip. When we tested the Galaxy Z Flip 6's 4,000 mAh battery, the phone held out for 11 hours and 1 minute on our battery test in which devices surf the web until they run out of power. That's a little bit better than average for a smartphone, and it reflects the fact that foldables have multiple displays to power up and less room internally for a big battery. Still, rumors suggest Samsung is turning to a larger power pack for the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Specifically, regulatory filings show a new flip phone from Samsung with a 4,300 mAh battery. In theory, that would help the Galaxy Z Flip 7 last longer on a charge. Still, given how many Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered devices deliver the best phone battery life in our testing, it would be even better if Samsung's new foldable phone could take advantage of that chip's proven power efficiency. With not much time between now and the July 9 Unpacked event, you'd imagine that we have a pretty good idea of what Samsung is going to deliver. Bigger screens seem like a certainty, and we're hopeful that the larger rumored battery brings improved longevity with the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Still, some questions remain, such as which chipset Samsung plans to use in its new phone. We're also hoping to hear about camera improvements for the Galaxy Z Flip 7, even if the hardware setup hasn't changed from the Galaxy Z Flip 6. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 may not deliver substantial changes from last year's phone. But the new features could be enough to get anyone with an older device to consider an upgrade — and maybe even attract new users to the foldable flip phone design.
