New Android phone to be launched tonight ahead of Samsung's unveiling next week
As we get further into the year, many tech companies are gearing up to unveil their newest and shiniest smartphones to enter onto the market. For instance, Android users are waiting in anticipation for Samsung to unveil its latest folding phones next week in New York at their Unpacked event.
However, for those who are in the market for a sparkling new phone, then you may be intrigued by a new Android smartphone that is set to be launched this evening. As one of the newer Android brands to hit the market, fans of the older models are curious about what new developments are in store.
Teased to fans through social media, UK tech firm Nothing is set to launch their new flagship phone today, Tuesday, July 1, at 6pm UK time, reports the Express.
Fans of the new brand have been waiting in anticipation for an updated phone to be launched. This new device, the Nothing Phone 3, is set to follow the Nothing Phone 2 which was released back in 2023.
However, this is not to say that the UK firm has gone radio silent over the past two years. The tech brand has also since launched the Phone 2a, 2a Plus, 3a and 3a Pro.
Now getting round to unveiling the Phone 3, fans are excited as the Nothing phones are well known for their bold designs. Every model so far has featured a transparent rear made of glass or plastic. Through this, users can see programmable 'Glyph' lights and some of the phone's interior.
However, it seems that the new Phone 3 will boast a new design as the company announced on X last month: "We killed the Glyph Interface".
Instead, the rear of the new flagship Nothing phone is said to include a display called the "Glyph Matrix".
Nothing has also teased fans with a series of posts on social media that feature close up details of the Phone 3, without revealing the full design.
Additionally, it has been confirmed that the new phone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset. This does mean that the phone won't be as high end as flagship phones from Samsung, OnePlus and Honor, which run on Snapdragon 8 Elite.
This different system may be how Nothing is able to keep its price for the Phone 3 lower in comparison to its competitors. However, the price has yet to be revealed,
CEO and founder Carl Pei has given us a rough idea however, as he confirmed in a video that it will cost "somewhere around £800". In comparison, Samsung's Galaxy S25 is retailing for £799.
Nothing has promised its fans that the Phone 3 will be its "first true flagship smartphone", but some people aren't fully convinced.
Some people online are questioning how the phone can be a "flagship" if it's running without the 8 Elite chip. However, the chip doesn't fully determine a device's capabilities.
The UK tech firm has also promised on X that the new phone will be equipped with a 50MP periscope zoom lens, which is similar to what can be found on the Phone 3a Pro that was released earlier this year.
Additionally, if online hints are to be believed, Nothing may also be launching their first set of over-ear headphones as well this evening. While the brand has several earbuds already on the market, this would be their first move into over-ear models.

Google says this could result in the battery lasting "for shorter periods between charges" as well as "reduced charging performance or short-term changes to how the battery-level indicator on your phone shows your battery capacity". Now the company has revealed that it'll roll out the update next week. "All Pixel 6a devices will receive a mandatory automatic software update to Android 16, with roll-out starting on 8 July 2025, but only Impacted Devices will receive the battery management features," the firm said on its website. "Some users will see changes sooner than others, because the battery management features activate only after an Impacted Device reaches 400 charge cycles."
