She says she's at the hospital and it's an emergency. Garland Memorial Hospital: Jacob arrives and Naomi tells him June was found with a head injury. They called Naomi because she had her card on her person. Naomi and Jacob enter June's room as Madison examines her (That was an incredibly quick return to work). Naomi greets Madison who says she's there on a neuro consult. Madison wonders why she's there and Naomi says June is her client. Further, her husband is a cop who needs to know more about the assault. The trio chats a bit about June's unhoused status before Naomi goes to her bedside. She tells her everything is going to be ok when she spots the picture of the two children. Naomi and Jacob sit outside the room as June is getting scanned. She calls it and gets an answer but when she says she is calling about June, they hang up. Police Station: Elon is on the phone telling someone he spoke to Jacob about the pesky reporter just as Smitty walks in. Elon ends the call and Smitty ribs him about being called a pesky reporter. He asks about Jacob and Elon says his son is attending to an emergency. Smitty asks if he could stick around and ask the Elon some questions. He doesn't really want to be probed about Malone and says he's a 'cop's cop' who is amazing at his job. Smitty says he has the utmost respect for Malone's reputation but wonders about the brushes with internal affairs. They go back and forth and things get very tense. They take a seat and Smitty asks again about Malone and Internal Affairs. Elon says nothing came from Malone's interactions with Internal Affairs. Smitty asks about the connection between Malone and Internal Affairs as he has a source that connects them. Elon admits he knows the connection but thinks Vernon deserves his privacy. He says he can make a statement off the record and Smitty turns off his recorder. Elon says Vernon wasn't called in but testified on his own accord because he had helpful information. It was his testimony that led to the investigation being dropped. With that, Smitty thanks Elon and makes his exit. Previous Beyond The Gates Recap: Endings Doug and Randy arrive followed by Vanessa. Waterloo council approves new temporary leash-free park
A dog is seen in this stock image (Pexels/Helena Lopes) Dogs will have a new place to run free thanks to a unanimous decision by Waterloo council. City councillors reviewed a report from the Parks, Forestry and Cemetery Services department on Monday afternoon, which encouraged council to approve a new temporary leash-free dog park at the Westmount Road entrance to Waterloo Park. Ultimately, councillors voted in favour of the $45,000 project. 'This was obviously an unbudgeted item that was presented to staff at this point, [it] wasn't identified in the three-year budget, and it wasn't identified in our work plan,' Robin Milne, the city's Director of Parks, Forestry and Cemetery Services, said. 'We threw together a number of locations that seemed to be feasible within the Uptown area. This presented itself as an option that was immediately ready, in terms of a pop-up.' Staff said preparation to set up the park will start immediately, with the hope to have everything ready by the end of the summer. 'We would call a company, and they would set the fencing up, secure it with stakes. It would have a very temporary or pop-up look to it,' Milne explained. The temporary park would remain in place for approximately two years while staff looked for a permanent place for a dog park. 'The Waterloo Park plan, as a whole, I think needs to be reviewed before we determine that this would be a permanent location for a leash free dog park,' Milne explained. City staff will collect feedback about other potential sites that could host the permanent dog park and present what they learn to council as part of the 2027 capital budget process. Some of the considerations include: land size and location, accessibility, safety and security, as well as amenities and infrastructure for waste disposal, shade and lighting. The temporary site would remain open until a permanent leash-free dog park is built.
