Utkal Sanskrurika Samaj is set to celebrate Rath Yatra

Visakhapatnam: Coinciding with the Rath Yatra at Sri Jagannath Puri temple, Utkal Sanskrurika Samaj, a premier socio-cultural organisation for Odias in the city, is celebrating Rath Yatra on June 27th (Friday). As part of the celebrations, the deities of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra will be taken out for a procession in a decorated chariot from the temple located at Daspalla Hills near All India Radio to Sri Gundicha temple at Lawson's Bay Colony. The deities were rejuvenated a day before the Rath Yatra through the annual ritual known as 'Naba Jauban Besha.' The deities will be taken to the chariot from the sanctum sanctorum of the temple in a ritual 'Pahandi Bije.' Then after sweeping the platform by the designated Gajapati, president of the samaj JK Nayak, the chariot will be pulled forward. The Rath Yatra will pass through VUDA Children Park, AU Gate, Park Hotel and VUDA Park before reaching the Gundicha temple at Lawsons Bay Colony where the deities will be in sojourn till July 5th wherein the return yatra, also known as 'Bahuda Yatra,' is scheduled. A number of devotional activities are lined up on the occasion. Contributing to the festival celebrations, Marwadi Yuva Manch is providing drinking water to the devotees enroute the yatra. Artistes will present cultural programmes during the procession. Sankeertan will be presented by the troupe deputed by the Odisha culture department, government of Odisha. Among others, general secretary of the samaj Binal Kumar Mahanta appealed to people to participate in the Rath Yatra and make it a grand success.

The idols of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra will be taken out in a colourful decorated chariot from the temple at Dasapalla Hills behind All India Radio to the Gundicha temple at Lawson's Bay colony amidst chanting of 'Hari bol' and Sankeertan. The deities will be taken to the chariot from the sanctum sanctorum of the temple in a ritual called Pahandi Bije. Then after sweeping of the platform by the designated Gajapati J.K. Nayak, president of the Samaj, and vice president of OSL group of companies, the devotees would pull the chariot. The chariot would pass through Vizag's VMRDA Children's Arena, AU Gate, Park Hotel and VUDA park to reach the Gundicha temple at Lawson's Bay Colony, where the deities will be in sojourn till July 5, and return that day known as Bahuda Yatra. Visakhapatnam: Utkal Sanskrurika Samaj, a premier socio-cultural organisation in the city for Odia people, celebrated 'Debasnana Poornima' in its premises at Daspalla Hills with fervour and gaiety. According to the Hindu calendar, 'Jyestha Poornima' is celebrated as Debasnana Poornima, Lord Jagannath's ceremonial bathing rituals. As part of the festival celebrations, the deities of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra were taken out from the sanctum sanctorum to the decorated altar for the bath with ceremonial 'pahandi'. The ritual was carried out amidst chanting of mantras. 108 Pots of aromatic sacred water were used for the bathing ritual of the deities. Scores of devotees witnessed the 'snana'. It is believed that the ceremonial bath given to the deities before Rath Yatra causes them fever. Following which, the deities will be in a 14-day quarantine period, known as 'Anasara'. Concluding the quarantine period, the deities will take part in the RathYatra scheduled on June 27. Earlier, president of the samaj JK Nayak cleaned the platform before the commencement of the bathing ritual. General secretary of the samaj Bimal Kumar Mahanta, among others, were present.

VISAKHAPATNAM: Utkal Sanskrurika Samaj a premier socio cultural organization in city for Odias celebrated Debasnana Poornima in its premises at Dasapalla Hills near All India Radio with religiously fervour and gaiety. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Jyestha Poornima in the Hindu calendar is celebrated as Deba Snana Poornima of Gods. Early morning the deities of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra were taken out from the sanctum sanctorum of the temple to the decorated Snana vedi the bathing platform ln a ritual called pahandi amidst chanring of mantraa. After the cleaning of the platform by the designated Gahapati JK Nayak president of the Samaj the snana(bathing) ritual started. The deites were bathed with 108 pitchers of scented water. Thereafter they adorned Gajanan attire and the devitees had darshan. This bath will cause fever and the deities will be in quarantine called Anasara and will convalesce for 14 days and on June 26 will be rejunevated to go on the famous Rath Yatra on June 27. General Secretary Bimal Kumar Mahanta with help of member volunteers oversaw the arrangements.
