A minor girl, who was a victim of gangrape at a village under Ramagiri mandal of Sri Sathya Sai district, on Monday delivered a baby under medical supervision, and both the mother and child were healthy and receiving continuous care. Superintendent of Police V. Ratna told the media here on Monday that she was overseeing the case, ensuring that the minor girl receives quality medical, legal, financial, and rehabilitation support. She said that visitors were strictly barred to prevent the risk of infections and to protect the family's privacy as well. 'Dignity of the victim in such cases is of paramount importance. Attempts to disturb peace or organise protests, which might expose her identity, will be dealt with stern police action,' the SP said. The SP said that after the crime against the minor came to light, multiple accused were taken into custody and remanded under the POCSO Act, following all legal procedures. Ms. Ratna said that the girl, admitted to hospital weeks ago with severe anaemia, was treated with coordination of multiple departments. The Department of Women and Child Welfare chalked out a recovery plan for her. Meanwhile, Minister for Home Vangalapudi Anitha, who was on a one-day visit to Madakasira Constituency in the district, while addressing the media said that as many as 14 accused were under remand on charges of sexual assault on the minor. She said that the concerned officials were taking care of the mother and child, and all necessary steps would be taken for her rehabilitation. Ms. Anitha said that the victim will get ₹2 lakh in financial support as a temporary relief.

Superintendent of Police V. Ratna on Wednesday called on the girl students to strictly avoid distractions of social media and completely focus on their studies and excel in their fields of interest. Launching a special awareness programme on the Shakti App and Eagle Clubs at the ZP Girls High School in Kothacheruvu of Sri Sathya Sai district, the SP cautioned against the dangers of fascination at a tender age, immature love, child marriage and drug abuse. Ms. Ratna said that addiction to narcotics held the potential to turn the victims to develop criminal behaviour, which soon would ruin their careers and lives. She urged the students to use the Shakti WhatsApp helpline (7993485111) or the toll-free number 1972 to immediately bring to the notice of the police the threats faced. The SP said that in commemoration of International Day Against Drug Abuse, the police will hold rallies and awareness programmes across the district on Thursday. Ms. Ratna urged the students in the age group of 14 years and above to be vigilant to negative influences, and consider making positive contributions to society. The SP had a word of appreciation for the students in recognition of their large-scale participation in the awareness campaign and announced incentives for those who actively engage in the events. Senior police officers from the Puttaparthi division, representatives of various private schools, and government teachers, parents, and students took part in the initiative.

District Collector T.S. Chetan on Saturday urged the people to embrace yoga as a daily habit to lead a healthy life with absolute mental well-being. He was speaking at the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations held at MGM Grounds in Hindupur of Sri Sathya Sai district on Saturday (June 21). The Collector said that yoga reflected the country's cultural heritage and served as a guide for healthy living. Superintendent of Police V. Ratna, Joint Collector Abhishek Kumar, and a large number of students, officials, and the public took part in the event. The district celebrated Yogandhra-2025 from May 21 to June 21 with yoga sessions across Dharamavaram, Kadiri, Penukonda, and Lepakshi. Later, the Collector and SP presented certificates and mementos to the winners of the yoga competitions.

A day after the arrest of the six accused in the case related to alleged gangrape of a minor girl from Ramagiri mandal, the Sri Sathya Sai district police on Tuesday arrested seven others, including a minor, for their alleged involvement in the case. With this, the total number of arrested in the incident rose to 13 and police are on a hunt to nab other accused in the case. Speaking to the media here, Superintendent of Police V. Ratna on Tuesday said the accused arrested on Tuesday were Budida Rajesh, Tumu Hemanth, Chinna Bosi Karthik, Basi Sonappa and Budida Rajendra, all residents of Eduguralapalle village, Anke Muktanand of Tallimadugu village and a minor boy. The accused were booked under various Sections of BNS, POCSO, SC/ST (POA) Act, and IT Act. The gangrape incident came to light on June 5. Alerted by the locals, the police nabbed the accused. Meanwhile, Ms. Ratna denied the reports of involvement of political parties in the incident and the investigation was done based on scientific and technical evidences. 'There is no involvement of any political party in the incident. The minor girl had been subjected to sexual abuse since the past two years,' she said.

Sri Sathya Sai district Superintendent of Police V. Ratna on Monday said that six people have been arrested in the minor girl's gangrape and impregnation case while they were making a bid to flee the district. Speaking to the media here, the SP said that the accused were identified as Achampalli Vardhan (21), Talari Murali (25), Badagarla Nandavardhan Raj (23), Aramcheru Nagaraju (51), Boya Sanjeeva (40), and Budidha Rajanna (49). She said that based on the statement of the victim and her mother, criminal cases under various sections of the BNS and the POCSO Act were booked against the accused. Special parties were deployed to track down other accused in the case. The case came to light on Thursday (June 5) from a remote village of Ramagiri mandal, when the neighborhood alerted the police, who swung into action. Following this, the minor girl along with her mother had reportedly left the village fearing threat from the accused. However, the police traced the family and shifted the girl to a government shelter. The accused were produced before the district court, which remanded them.
