Vizianagaram: A unique thief with a royal taste was finally caught by the Vizianagaram police. Unlike petty criminals who steal anything they can get their hands on, this offender had a particular obsession on Royal Enfield motorcycles. The thief, Uppadala Ramu alias DJ only targeted these premium bikes making him stand out among ordinary criminals. Speaking to the media, SP Vakul Jindal said that Ramu, a resident of BC Colony in VT Agraharam, Vizianagaram was arrested along with his accomplice Muddada Naveen alias Tyson (19) of Muddadapeta village, Amadalavalasa Mandal of Srikakulam district Ramu, a habitual offender with a criminal record in bike thefts, had resumed his illegal activities after being recently released from jail. He specifically targeted Royal Enfield bikes across the 1-Town and 2-Town police station limits. Based on surveillance and investigation, police arrested Ramu near the RTC Complex while he was riding a stolen Royal Enfield. Based on the information he provided, police traced and arrested his associate Naveen, who helped in selling the stolen motorcycles. In total, police recovered 11 Royal Enfield motorcycles, 2 Yamaha R15 motorcycles. SP Vakul Jindal commended the efforts of DSP M. Srinivasa Rao, CI RVRK Chowdary, and SI Surendra Naidu, presenting them with appreciation certificates for their swift and effective work in cracking the case.

Vizianagaram: In a major crackdown on illegal drug trafficking, the Vizianagaram District Police arrested two individuals and seized 230 kilograms of ganja near the railway gate at Manapuram village in Dattirajeru Mandal. The ganja was transported from Pottangi in Odisha to Visakhapatnam in two separate cars. District SP Vakul Jindal informed the media that the arrests were made based on a credible tip-off received by the Pedda Manapuram and Eagle Police. Acting swiftly, the police undertaken surprise vehicle check at the railway gate in Pedda Manapuram. Upon noticing the police presence, five individuals travelling in two cars attempted to flee, abandoning their vehicles. Police teams chased and apprehended two suspects-Ghasiram Hantal from Jangarada village of Pottangi Mandal and Karan Khilo from Jhaliaguda village of Simiguda Mandal both in Koraput district of Odisha. Upon interrogation, the duo revealed the identities of three accomplices who managed to escape: Suresh Adakabiya, Khanilati, and Junnesh. Among them, Suresh is believed to be the prime operative in the case. A manhunt is currently underway to apprehend the absconding accused. SP Vakul Jindal stated that along with the arrests, police seized two cars, 44 ganja packets weighing 230 kilograms, Rs 700 in cash, and three mobile phones. Notably, Ghasiram Hantal is already involved in seven two-wheeler theft cases. Karan Khilo had arranged the Maruti 800 car (OR 19B 4554) specifically to transport the contraband. The ganja was reportedly loaded in the vehicles in Pottangi, Odisha, and was being transported to Visakhapatnam when the accused were intercepted by police. SP Jindal commended the prompt and effective action taken by Bobbili DSP G Bhavyareddy, Gajapathinagaram CI GAV Ramana, Manapuram SI R Jayanti, and constables K Appanna, K Shankar, and HG K Appalaswamy. Certificates of appreciation were awarded to them in recognition of their outstanding efforts in the case.

Vizianagaram: In a move to strengthen traffic regulation and enhance road safety, 16 new motorcycles have been allocated to Vizianagaram district by the Police Transport Organisation (PTO) of AP. Superintendent of Police (SP) Vakul Jindal inspected the bikes at district police office premises. Speaking on the occasion, SP Vakul Jindal said that the allocation includes 15 TVS Apache motorcycles and one Royal Enfield, all equipped with advanced features such as sirens, blinkers, public addressing systems and crowd control equipment. These modern motorcycles are designed to ensure effective enforcement of traffic rules and rapid response to road-related incidents. He added that these vehicles will be deployed at police stations located in areas prone to traffic congestion and frequent road accidents. The motorcycles will help police personnel reach incident locations promptly, especially in interior and remote areas where four-wheelers may not be accessible. In addition to quick response, these motorcycles will also be used to conduct awareness campaigns on traffic rules and road safety among the public, particularly at major junctions and traffic hubs, the SP noted. SB CIs A V Leelarao and RVRK Chowdary, RSI (MTO) R Ramesh Kumar and RSI (Admin) N Gopala Naidu have attended theprogramme.

Vizianagaram: The trial run of the much-anticipated 'Yogandhra' event was conducted successfully in Vizianagaram district. Under the leadership of district collector Dr BR Ambedkar, a convoy of 16 buses carried district officials, public representatives, and liaison officers to the designated venues. What stood out in this initiative was the collector himself traveling in a regular Pallevelugu bus along with the rest of the team, setting an example of simplicity and inclusiveness. During the journey, the collector was joined by District SP Vakul Jindal, S Kota MLA Smt. Kolla Lalitha Kumari, joint collector Sethu Madhavan, Additional SP Soumya Latha, DCMS Chairman Gompa Krishna, and Venue In-Charge Ronanki Kurmanath, among others. All of them traveled together by bus up to the event site and reviewed the arrangements firsthand. The buses traversed along the National Highway route from Marikavalasa to Thimmapuram Beach. Officials thoroughly inspected the designated routes, drop-off points, and parking areas. For the movement of around 660 buses from the district, parking zones were allocated at four major locations: Thotlakonda, APIIC Hills, Bavi Kondalu, and IT Hills. The district has been allotted 30 compartments, with approximately 1,000 people per compartment. Each compartment will be supervised by a senior officer, along with dedicated police security and an in-charge official. To streamline coordination, each bus carried a label indicating the compartment number and assigned route, aiding both passengers and police personnel in smooth navigation.
