TN custodial death: BJP MLA sees DMK govt's gradual departure from ethical responsibilities
Salem: The custodial death of a youth in Sivaganga indicates the DMK govt's gradual departure from its ethical responsibilities, BJP MLA Vanathi Srinivasan on Tuesday. Vanathi said such incidents were not new under the DMK govt. Vanathi was speaking at a model parliament event in Salem, which held to mark the 50th anniversary of the Emergency imposed by the then Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi, in 1975. Model parliaments are being conducted nationwide by the BJP's women's and youth wings. Reflecting on the Emergency period, Vanathi remarked that it was the Congress party that undermined the Indian Constitution. "Congress claims that the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi do not uphold the Constitution. If they fail to respond to these allegations, it will become evident that their claims hold merit," she said. The BJP MLA criticized the govt for continuously asserting that the Centre had enforced Hindi. She questioned, "Has the central govt ever instructed anyone to learn Hindi?" She said there was no basis for such claims. "When the Centre raises inquiries, the DMK govt claims that they cannot respond but only desires the funds to flow in," she said. She refrained from commenting on a BJP-AIADMK coalition govt in Tamil Nadu, stating that such decisions would be made by the party's high command in New Delhi. "We must ensure that the DMK is ousted in the upcoming 2026 elections, and then we will determine our next steps," she said. Paralympic Committee of India unveils logo, mascot for New Delhi World Para Athletics Championship
New Delhi [India], June 20 (ANI): The logo and mascot for the New Delhi 2025 World Para Athletics Championships was launched here on Friday along with the launch of the '100 Days to Go' countdown. The event was hosted by the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI). A PCI release said that the newly-revealed mascot named Viraaj is a spirited young elephant with a blade prosthesis is a tribute to strength, optimism, and resilience, while the logo captures India's rich heritage, the spirit of para athletics, and the vibrancy of New Delhi as host city. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Vanathi Srinivasan, MLA and Chief Patron of PCI, actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut and Delhi Minister Ashish Sood were among those present. The Chief Minister said that the national capital is honoured to host a global event that celebrates courage, ability, and human potential. 'The logo and mascot beautifully reflect the soul of India and the power of para sport. We will ensure that New Delhi 2025 becomes a landmark for inclusivity and excellence,' she said. BJP MLA accuses DMK of erasing ‘Hindu' from caste certificates in Tamil Nadu
Tamil Nadu BJP MLA Vanathi Srinivasan has alleged that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government in Tamil Nadu is deliberately attempting to erase references to Hinduism from official examples of online caste certificates, she claimed that the word 'Hindu' is no longer being used before caste names in these it a deliberate and targeted move, Srinivasan described the change as 'anti-Hindu behaviour' by the ruling The BJP leader also questioned why Chief Minister MK Stalin never extends wishes during Hindu festivals, saying it reflects a larger pattern of 'disregard for the sentiments of the majority.'She further alleged that a 'Super Chief Minister', without naming anyone, was behind such decisions.'Because there are caste differences in Hindu religion, reservation for education and government employment opportunities is given to the caste. In the certificates given to school and college students, they will be able to get reservation only if the word Hindu with the name of caste is included. When it is like that, I don't know why the DMK government is removing the name Hindu.
