Waterfalls Lodge opens just steps from Victoria Falls

Wild Horizons has opened Waterfalls Lodge in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. The 60-room property is positioned within walking distance of Victoria Falls and the city center. The lodge features en-suite rooms with king-size or twin beds, air conditioning, ceiling fans and complimentary WiFi. Design elements inspired by the nearby natural wonder can be found throughout the property. Facilities include an on-site restaurant, swimming pools and landscaped gardens. Guests can dine at the lodge restaurant or at Wild Horizons' Lookout Cafe, which is positioned over the Batoka Gorge and offers panoramic views. B&B guests can exchange their hotel breakfast for dining at the Lookout Cafe, while full or half-board guests have the option to take either breakfast or dinner at the scenic venue. The lodge's central location places guests within a 15-minute walk of the town's restaurants and shops as well as a short walk to the falls themselves. The Victoria Falls Rainforest, meanwhile, is about a 10-minute drive away. Wild Horizons positions the lodge as offering "refined, accessible accommodation" that balances comfort with affordability for travelers seeking a relaxed Victoria Falls experience.

Travel + Leisure Readers' 10 Favorite Hotels in Africa of 2025

Be it an ocean-view house in Cape Town, a beach resort in Zanzibar, or a riverside property close to Victoria Falls, Travel + Leisure readers love a hotel with sparkling water views. This year, our readers' favorite sub-Saharan African city hotels and resorts were largely based on location and scenery—but great service was a major consideration, too. Every year for our World's Best Awards survey, T+L asks readers to weigh in on travel experiences around the globe—to share their opinions on the top hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more. Nearly 180,000 T+L readers completed the 2025 survey. A total of more than 657,000 votes were cast across over 8,700 properties (hotels, cities, cruise lines, etc.). Hotels were classified as either resort hotel, city hotel, inn, or safari lodge based on their location and amenities, and they were specifically rated on the criteria below: Rooms/facilities Location Service Food Value For each characteristic, respondents could choose a rating of excellent, above average, average, below average, or poor. The final scores are averages of these responses. The Giraffe Manor dining room. Brian Siambi/Giraffe Manor Once again, Cape Town hotels dominated T+L readers' picks of African city hotels, with four of the top five based in the South African 'Mother City.' Perhaps that's not surprising: A popular destination in its own right, as well as an arrival point for safaris, Cape Town has a slew of incredible luxury hotels. This year, T+L readers show their love for waterside properties, with Ellerman House (No. 2), One&Only Cape Town (No. 3), and Cape Grace, a Fairmont Managed Hotel (No. 5) having ocean or harbor views. Service was also a focal point—one reader noted the 'friendly staff' at Cape Grace, while another praised the 'over-the-top' service at Ellerman House. Giraffe Manor: Nairobi, Kenya Giraffes patrol the exterior of Giraffe Manor, in Kenya. The only top five property not based in Cape Town, Giraffe Manor (No. 1) heads the list of African city hotels, up from fifth place last year. The hotel is in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi, and is named (and famed) after the herd of Rothschild's giraffes that live on its leafy grounds and 'visit' guests for breakfast, poking their heads through the windows for a handful of dried grass pellets. 'A delightful experience to spend time with the giraffes,' wrote one T+L reader. Another wrote it was 'one of the best stays of my life.' 1. Giraffe Manor: Nairobi, Kenya Reader Score: 97.33 2. Ellerman House: Cape Town Reader Score: 96.80 3. One&Only Cape Town Reader Score: 96.57 4. Mount Nelson, a Belmond Hotel, Cape Town Reader Score: 96.14 5. Cape Grace: Cape Town WBA Super Hall of Fame honoree. Reader Score: 93.80 T+L readers' favorite African resort hotels are from all over the continent this year, including a wine farm in South Africa and a beach resort in the Seychelles. Only Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe features twice. Scenery is clearly key to why readers chose these five resorts: 'Paradise!' wrote one former guest about Four Seasons Resort Seychelles (No. 4). And the word 'beautiful' crops up repeatedly in comments about The Victoria Falls Hotel (No. 5): 'a beautiful hotel on a beautiful property,' wrote one reader. Kilindi Zanzibar: Tanzania A plunge pool on the deck of a villa at Kilindi Zanzibar. A new entry on the 'World's Best Awards' list, Kilindi Zanzibar (No. 1) has debuted as 2025's favorite African resort hotel, as chosen by T+L readers. The beach resort is based on the island of Zanzibar, off the Indian Ocean coast of mainland Tanzania. Although readers commented on a range of aspects—including the location ('paradise') and its suitability for honeymooners—service, including management, was mentioned the most. 'Staff are so attentive to fulfill guests needs,' wrote one T+L reader, while another described the villa hosts as 'attentive, smart, and hardworking.' 1. Kilindi Zanzibar: Tanzania Reader Score: 99.50 2. Matetsi Victoria Falls: Matetsi Private Game Reserve, Zimbabwe Reader Score: 97.47 3. Babylonstoren: Simondium, South Africa Reader Score: 95.41 4. Four Seasons Resort Seychelles Reader Score: 94.75 5. The Victoria Falls Hotel: Zimbabwe Reader Score: 86.55

Setchu Spring 2026: Snaps and Crafts

After his first runway show at Pitti Uomo in January, Japanese designer Satoshi Kuwata was excited by the format and so he staged his Milan runway debut on Friday. His transformative, functional fashions — largely relying on tailoring and utilitarian pieces morphing shape and fit via a profuse use of zippers, snap buttons and buttons — was refreshed with crafty flourishes for the occasion. Some charming, some too gimmicky, sculpted bodices and skirts, as well as wide-brimmed hats and baskets, accessorized Kuwata's looks. More from WWD Naomi Campbell to Join Third Black Carpet Awards as Godmother in September Mitchells Hosts Top Italian CEOs for Celebratory Dinner in Milan Prada Goes Viral With Toe-ring Sandals Resembling India's Traditional Kolhapuri Chappals The wavy, palm-weaving technique that informed these pieces was a central theme, as it both expressed Kuwata's penchant for building bridges between cultures and nodded to the starting point of his creative process — a recent trip to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. An avid fisherman, the 2023 LVMH Prize for Young Designers winner might originally have planned his journey to chase tiger fish, but he ended up catching much more. Kuwata had the opportunity to collaborate with local tribes, discovering their craft and creating the woven pieces, also thanks to a little help from LVMH Métiers d'Art, which supports local craftsmanship through initiatives such as the Jafuta Foudation and Batoka Creatives. '[The technique] is based on how the weaver feels in that second, not an order you follow, so they make a unique organic shape,' said Kuwata, underscoring the affinity with a practice in his homeland, too. Overall, he said that observing Zimbabwe's natural landscape and local culture 'especially the way people instinctively mold and wrap clothing around the body, sparked new ideas about primal dressing. The pureness of intent and the timelessness of these gestures are what tie Africa and Japan together.' He channeled that instinctive approach in the lineup via tops and shirts with sleeves wrapped around the neckline to create a draped effect or way-too-oversize denim and cargo pants held only by a thin strap in hanging low on the hips. He addressed the colors and misty mood of the falls and nature with transparencies, lightweight dresses and flimsy little frocks, and these looks — mainly women's — were seen alongside his take on utility and sartorial constructions. A series of field jackets featuring handles in the collar and enabling wearers to carry them as totes was among the highlights of the collection. 'I like the idea of something timeless, yet you can enjoy every time you transform into something,' Kuwata said. 'I'm not famous, I think I can do whatever I want. Not many people know exactly what I am, so I'm just trying to be who I am.' Accor announces entry into Zimbabwe with signing of Novotel Victoria Falls

The project is set within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Victoria Falls and is expected to open its doors in 2028. Signed during the Future Hospitality Summit (FHS) Africa, the agreement leverages a first-mover advantage in one of Africa's most iconic destinations. The 111-key new-build property will be developed under a management agreement with Eagle Real Estate Investment Trust, which focuses on high-quality assets across various sectors. The hotel will be located in the Eagle Heights precinct, overlooking the Masuwe River. It will offer facilities such as an outdoor swimming pool, a kids' club, an all-day dining restaurant, and a destination bar. Victoria Falls is a hub for adventure tourism, offering activities such as whitewater rafting, bungee jumping, and scenic helicopter flights. The signing of Novotel Victoria Falls represents a strategic entry for Accor into a destination with growing regional and domestic tourism and a limited presence of global hotel brands. The hotel will be the first internationally branded Novotel in Zimbabwe, catering to the demand for high-quality yet accessible accommodation in the area. Accor Premium, Midscale & Economy Division, Middle East, Africa & Türkiye chief development officer Maya Ziade said: 'This signing represents a bold step forward in our development strategy for Sub-Saharan Africa. 'Victoria Falls is one of the world's most extraordinary destinations, and we are proud to bring the Novotel brand experience to Zimbabwe for the very first time. As a first mover, we see this project as a gateway to long-term sustainable growth in the country.' In related news, Accor's Emblems Collection brand is set to make its UK debut with the introduction of Lucknam Park Hotel & Spa, which will join the collection's Heritage category. Situated six miles (9.65km) from Bath, the country house hotel features a Michelin-starred restaurant, a wellness spa, an equestrian centre, and 500 acres of parkland. 'Accor announces entry into Zimbabwe with signing of Novotel Victoria Falls' was originally created and published by Hotel Management Network, a GlobalData owned brand.
