Amit Shah Says India Will Be Free Of Naxalism By March 2026, Lashes Out At CPI(M) In Kerala

Last Updated: Amit Shah said the ruling LDF government in Kerala was involved in corruption and asserted that a 'Viksit Kerala' was not possible without the BJP. Union Home Minister Amit Shah lashed out at the Communist Party of India (Marxist), saying it prioritises cadre welfare over Kerala's development, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chose Viksit Keralam (developed Kerala) over cadre, while promising that the country will be free of Naxalism by March 31, 2026. 'BJP and CPI(M) are both cadre-based parties, but there's a major difference between the two. Cadre welfare is bigger than the state's development in Kerala while it is Viksit Keralam above cadre for BJP," he said during a public event in Thiruvananthapuram. The people's dream of a developed Kerala is Modi Ji's vision. The Home Minister also assailed the LDF government in Kerala and the Congress-led UDF. 'The track record of LDF (Left Democratic Front) and UDF (United Democratic Front) has been that of a corrupt government. LDF has done explosives scam, cooperative bank scam, AI camera scam, Life Mission scam, PPE kit scam and India's biggest scam – state-sponsored gold smuggling scam." 'Congress is no less. They are a party that's going to shut down soon. I came to tell people of Kerala that Vikshit Kerala is not possible without BJP," he further said, adding that Kerala must vote for a BJP-led NDA government, as neither the LDF nor UDF could bring real change in the state. 'India Will Emerge As Developed Nation By 2026' Earlier in the day, Shah inaugurated the head office of the BJP's Kerala unit in Thiruvananthapuram, where the state unit president Rajeev Chandrasekhar was also present. 'Kerala is a sacred land, for it is where a great soul like Sri Adi Shankaracharya was born," he said. 'While inaugurating the BJP office in Kerala today, I was remembering the sacrifices made by all our party workers who, through their dedication and devotion, have carried our party's ideology forward. I pay my respects to their sacrifices." He said the 2026 election will be fought to form a BJP-NDA government under the leadership of PM Modi and promised that by March 2026, India will emerge as a fully developed nation and will be free of Naxalism. 'Terrorism cannot be answered by anyone other than PM Modi and BJP… We answered the Uri attack with a surgical strike, and the Pulwama attack with air strikes. We responded with Operation Sindoor by entering their homes and attacking," he further said. view comments First Published: July 12, 2025, 12:53 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Gold smuggling case in Kerala the ‘biggest govt.-sponsored scam' in the country, says Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)]-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) in Kerala on Saturday (July 12, 2025), describing the 2020 gold smuggling case as the 'biggest State government-sponsored scam' the entire country has seen. Mr. Shah also reiterated the Narendra Modi government's resolve to end Naxalism by the end of March 2026. Mr. Shah was addressing ward-level leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Viksit Kerala convention, which also set the stage for the formal launch of the party's campaign for the crucial local body elections scheduled for later this year. Both the LDF and the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF), which have alternately ruled in Kerala, have a track record of corruption and appeasement and vote bank politics, Mr. Shah said. While the people of Kerala gave them ample opportunities, the two fronts gave in return only violence, corruption, creation of vote banks, appeasement, and the fostering of anti-national elements. 'Countless scams' The LDF rule has been plagued by countless scams including those related to the cooperative societies, the LIFE Mission, PPE kits and the Exalogic controversy, but the gold smuggling case ranks as the biggest government-sponsored scam, he said. UDF rule, which he described as being on the point of 'winding up,' also has been infested with scams, according to him. He said that the time is now ripe for the BJP to come to power in Kerala. In the 2025 local body elections, the BJP will contest in over 21,000 wards, with the aim of securing over 25% of the votes. In the 2026 State Assembly elections, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will seek to come to power in the State, he said. 'In the 2014 elections, Kerala gave 11% votes to the BJP. In 2019 it rose to 16% and in 2024, to 20%. Now it is time for the BJP to make a government here,' he said. BJP is no more a 'growing party' in Kerala. The party has now considerable reach in every booth in the State, he said. He appealed to the people of the State to stop choosing between LDF and UDF, and vote for the BJP. 'Viksit Kerala' is impossible without the BJP, he said. On Viksit Kerala He described corruption-free governance, discrimination-free implementation of government programmes, and holding Kerala's development above vote bank politics as the three foundations of the concept of Viksit Kerala. While both BJP and CPI(M) are cadre parties, the critical difference between them is that the CPI(M) places the development of its cadres above that of Kerala, Mr. Shah said. For the BJP, 'developed Kerala' holds priority over the development of its cadres, he said. BJP State president Rajeev Chandrasekhar, who presided, said the party State unit would launch an intense and united 'Mission 2025' campaign over the next four months in the run-up to the local body polls. Minister of State for Fisheries and Animal Husbandry George Kurian, party general secretaries M.T. Ramesh, Shobha Surendran and S. Suresh, senior leaders K. Surendran, V. Muraleedharan, P.K. Krishnadas and A.N. Radhakrishnan were among those present. P.C. George, retired IPS officer R. Sreelekha, Padmaja Venugopal and Anil Antony were also present. Earlier in the day, Mr. Shah inaugurated the new office of the State unit of the BJP 'Mararji Bhavan' near Aristo Junction.

Viksit Kerala key to achieving Viksit Bharat: Governor

Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar said on Monday that 'Viksit Kerala' is key to achieving 'Viksit Bharat.' The Governor was speaking after presenting the Business Excellence Awards 2025 instituted by the Trivandrum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCCI). 'Viksit Bharat' is not merely an economic concept, but a social and emotional one as well. Noting that success comes after years of struggle, the Governor said success stories of the award winners should become household narratives in the State. K. Muraleedharan, founder and chief executive officer of the Thiruvananthapuram-based Muralya Dairy Products, received the Chamber Iconic Brand Award. The Chamber Excellence Awards were presented to leading business persons on the occasion. TCCI president S.N. Raghuchandran Nair presided. Sashi Tharoor, MP; Speaker A.N. Shamseer; Transport Minister K.B. Ganesh Kumar; TCCI secretary Abraham Thomas; and awards committee chairman Suresh Mathew were also present.
