GRP constable assaults train ticket examiner on board Hirakund Exp
Jhansi: A train ticket examiner on board the Visakhapatnam-bound 20808 Hirakund Express train was assaulted by a govt railway police (GRP) head constable for asking for the ticket from his wife, who was travelling in an AC coach with him without a valid ticket.
The GRP personnel forcefully deboarded the TTE at the Lalitpur station, after which the train moved ahead without the TTE. An enquiry committee was set up on Wednesday to establish the facts.
According to details, the incident occurred on Tuesday when TTE Dinesh Kumar from Jabalpur division's Katni station was conducting his routine check on the train after it departed Jhansi station.
During the check, he asked a woman sitting in berth number 38 of the B-1 coach to show her ticket.
The woman admitted that she had no reservation, and her husband, a GRP constable, was seated on another berth. The TTE persisted in asking to see the ticket. At this point, the woman's husband, Sandeep Kumar, arrived, and an argument ensued. While the TTE insisted for the ticket, Sandeep declined, and the situation escalated.
Upon the train reaching Lalitpur station, more GRP personnel boarded and forcibly removed Dinesh Kumar, taking him to the GRP station.

The train then left the station without any TTE on board.
In his written complaint, Dinesh stated that he was thrashed at the GRP station and made to sign a settlement letter under duress. Following the incident, the local TTE association met the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) and demanded action, describing the event as outrageous.
On Wednesday, a three-member committee, comprising one senior member each from GRP, RPF, and the railway administration, was formed to investigate the incident. ADRM (OP), Jhansi division, Nandeesh Shukla, sent a letter to the ADGP (GRP), requesting strict action against the accused GRP personnel.
