GRP constable assaults train ticket examiner on board Hirakund Exp

Time of India2 days ago
Jhansi: A train ticket examiner on board the Visakhapatnam-bound 20808 Hirakund Express train was assaulted by a govt railway police (GRP) head constable for asking for the ticket from his wife, who was travelling in an AC coach with him without a valid ticket.
The GRP personnel forcefully deboarded the TTE at the Lalitpur station, after which the train moved ahead without the TTE. An enquiry committee was set up on Wednesday to establish the facts.
According to details, the incident occurred on Tuesday when TTE Dinesh Kumar from Jabalpur division's Katni station was conducting his routine check on the train after it departed Jhansi station.
During the check, he asked a woman sitting in berth number 38 of the B-1 coach to show her ticket.
The woman admitted that she had no reservation, and her husband, a GRP constable, was seated on another berth. The TTE persisted in asking to see the ticket. At this point, the woman's husband, Sandeep Kumar, arrived, and an argument ensued. While the TTE insisted for the ticket, Sandeep declined, and the situation escalated.
Upon the train reaching Lalitpur station, more GRP personnel boarded and forcibly removed Dinesh Kumar, taking him to the GRP station.

The train then left the station without any TTE on board.
In his written complaint, Dinesh stated that he was thrashed at the GRP station and made to sign a settlement letter under duress. Following the incident, the local TTE association met the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) and demanded action, describing the event as outrageous.
On Wednesday, a three-member committee, comprising one senior member each from GRP, RPF, and the railway administration, was formed to investigate the incident. ADRM (OP), Jhansi division, Nandeesh Shukla, sent a letter to the ADGP (GRP), requesting strict action against the accused GRP personnel.

Family of Ganjam worker anxious after 3 Indians abducted in Mali

1 2 Berhampur: Family members of a 28-year-old Ganjam worker are anxious that he might be among the three Indians abducted from a cement factory in Kayas, Mali, on July 1. Since July 1, the family is unable to communicate with P Venkatraman, who is working at the Diamond Cement Factory since Nov last year after being recruited through a Mumbai-based company, and fears he might be among those abducted. His mother, P Narasama (50), of Samarajhol village in Ganjam district's Hinjili, last spoke to him on June 30. "I am very worried about my son's fate and request the govt to ensure his safe return. His phone number is unreachable now," she told reporters. On Thursday, Narasama received a call from her son's employer stating he was under police custody. However, she later learned through social media about the abduction. She filed a report with Hinjili police on Friday evening and appealed for intervention. The ministry of external affairs (MEA) has expressed serious concern over the abduction of Indian workers. While no group has claimed responsibility, Al-Qaeda affiliate, Jama'at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM), claimed responsibility for multiple coordinated attacks across Mali on the same day. "The govt should take immediate steps for Venkataraman's safe return," said M Ram Krushna, a relative. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Venkatraman's sister has rushed home from Hyderabad after learning about the incident. Keep dustbins near vends: MC chief tells city vendors

Ludhiana: Taking another initiative to keep the city clean, MC commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal Friday issued an order directing street vendors to ensure dustbins/ garbage receptacles near their vends. The order states that they can face penalties of up to Rs 2,000 if they fail to do so, and if the area around around their vends is littered with waste. An FIR can also be registered against them for repeated violations. The civic body can also seize their material/equipment. Civic teams will create awareness among the street vendors, and if they still fail to comply with the orders, action will be initiated against them under relevant sections of the Punjab Municipal Corporation Act, 1976; the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act, 2014, and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The street vendors have been asked to keep separate dustbins/garbage receptacles for dry and wet waste. They should hand over the garbage to garbage collectors or dump the garbage at designated sites (transfer stations) only after closing down their vends at night. Vendors must also refrain from burning waste, spitting, urinating in public spaces, or using banned single-use plastic items at their stalls. The enforcement teams of MC's sanitation (health branch) and tehbazaari wings will regularly monitor compliance and take appropriate action against violators. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 2025 年最紓壓的農場遊戲!無需安裝 東加:島嶼農場 立即播放 Undo Commissioner Dachalwal said this is among the many steps being taken to ensure cleanliness across the city.
