Whitney Purvis of '16 And Pregnant' Arrested After Man's Fatal Drug Overdose

Whitney Purvis of MTV's '16 and Pregnant' has been charged with involuntary manslaughter after a man's fatal drug overdose, multiple outlets report. According to TMZ, sheriffs in Floyd County, Georgia, said they booked the reality TV figure on Monday for intentionally distributing the substance 'tranq,' a mix of fentanyl and the veterinary sedative xylazine. She is being held without bail while facing charges of manslaughter and possession with intent to distribute controlled substances following the death of John Mark Harris, per arrest documents obtained by Deadline. Purvis' arrest comes a little over one month after she announced the death of her 16-year-old son, Weston Gosa Jr. The cause of Gosa's death has yet to be confirmed, but his stepmom, Amy Gosa, told TMZ that he was dealing with a number of medical issues, including diabetes. Purvis appeared on the first season of '16 and Pregnant' in 2009 along with ex Weston Gosa Sr. The couple welcomed son River Gosa in 2014 and split that same year, according to Us Weekly. '16 & Pregnant' alum Whitney Purvis arrested on involuntary manslaughter charges

'16 and Pregnant' star Whitney Purvis has been arrested and is being held in police custody for felony involuntary manslaughter involving the fatal overdose of chef John Mark Harris. According to records, sheriff's deputies nabbed the former reality star in Floyd County, Georgia, on Monday. She was charged for intentionally distributing a drug called Tranq — a mix of Fentanyl and the animal tranquilizer Xylazine. Authorities said the Tranq, known as a rising 'zombie drug' in New York City, caused the victim to suffer a toxic overdose. Harris died Feb. 17 at his residence in Rome, Georgia. He was 37. Purvis was also charged with possession with intent to distribute, TMZ reported. The arrest follows the death of the MTV alum's 16-year-old son, Weston Gosa, who died over a month ago, reportedly of natural causes. Announcing the passing on social media on June 2, Purvis wrote: 'This is so hard to write. My beautiful son, Weston has passed away. He was only 16 years old. Life is so cruel and unfair. I just (don't) understand. Oh my baby is gone and I don't know what to do with myself.' Weeks later, the problem-prone 33-year old took to Facebook to reveal that she was allegedly blocked from attending the funeral with staffers telling her she was 'not on the list.' Purvis also raised questions about the circumstances surrounding the teen's death. She claimed that her ex — who had custody of their two sons, Weston Jr. and his little brother, River — purchased five cars in recent months 'but couldn't pay for medical insurance.' _______

‘16 and Pregnant' star Whitney Purvis denied entry to son Weston's funeral after showing up late: report

'16 and Pregnant' star Whitney Purvis was denied entry to her son Weston's funeral after she arrived late, only to find out that she was not put on the guest list, according to a report. The former reality star's eldest child died at age 16 on June 2 in Gordon County, Georgia. An official cause of death remains unknown. Two weeks after confirming his death, Purvis had arrived at Weston's funeral at 4 p.m., having been told that was the scheduled start time. However, she was turned away at the door when it became clear the ceremony had taken place two hours prior — and her name wasn't even on the guest list, TMZ reports. Sources close to Purvis blame her ex-husband Weston Lewis Gosa for the mix-up, though he strongly disputes her version of events. Instead, Gosa insists he told his ex — with whom he also shares 11-year-old son River — the correct start time, and claims she turned up at 4:15 p.m., by which point the chapel doors were locked. Insiders claim that once Purvis, who appeared on the MTV show in 2009, arrived to lay her son to rest, she was told that the service was over. They alleged that Purvis' side of the family was also denied access to the service. Gosa, for his part, insists that he told Purvis that the viewing started at 2 p.m., with the service commencing at 4 p.m. sharp. He told the outlet that he called his ex a week in advance to let her know about the strict guest list, and further asserted that her mother, aunt and uncle were all in attendance as they arrived at 3 p.m. Just after 5 p.m., Gosa claimed he received angry text messaged from Purvis. In one text, he claims she had called him 'evil' for barring her from their son's memorial service. He further alleged that after Purvis claimed she had not been put on the guest list, he responded with a photo of her name being on there. The services for Weston were held in private 'due to the nature and circumstances of this tragic loss.' Gosa and his current wife, Amy, have purchased a separate urn for Whitney to house some of her son's ashes. Earlier this month, Purvis confirmed her son's death in a heartbreaking post on social media. 'This is so hard to write. My beautiful son, Weston has passed away. He was only 16 years old. Life is so cruel and unfair. I just don't understand,' she wrote on Facebook. 'Oh my baby is gone and I don't know what to do with myself. He was so perfect. This is really my worst nightmare come true.' Purvis had welcomed Weston with Gosa during the first season of MTV's '16 and Pregnant' in April 2009. She went on to welcome River in 2014, however the couple had split shortly after. The reality star went on to lose custody of both her children to their father after she was arrested in 2024 for failing to make child support payments, TMZ reported. Weston Sr., for his part, had several run-ins with the law — including arrests for driving on a suspended license and smashing electronics.

Reality Star Claims Ex Barred Her From Attending Teen Son's Funeral

Two weeks after announcing that her 16-year-old son, Weston, had passed away unexpectedly, 16 and Pregnant star Whitney Purvis is leveling startling accusations at his father and stepmother. On Wednesday, Purvis, 33, took to Facebook to accuse Weston's father, Weston Gosa Sr., and stepmother, Amy Gosa of alienating her from their son during his life and intentionally keeping her out of his funeral arrangements—then implied they had been irresponsible with Weston's medical care before his death on June 2. Weston Gosa Sr. confirmed to TMZ that his son's cause of death was ruled as 'natural causes,' and both parents have said that Weston suffered from multiple autoimmune disorders, as well as diabetes. In two lengthy posts this morning, Purvis, who also shares son River, 11, with Gosa Sr., claimed he had told her the funeral, which took place last weekend, would begin at 4 p.m., when it actually started two hours earlier, then attempted to deny her entry when she was late. 'You had to be on a list to get into the funeral,' Purvis wrote. 'Guess who wasn't on the list? Me and all my friends and family were not allowed to come in… It wouldnt matter what time I got there I wasnt getting in.' Weston Gosa Sr. has strongly denied the allegations, telling TMZ he 'called Whitney personally a week in advance' and made clear the schedule: the viewing would run from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., followed by the service straight afterwards. Gosa Sr. said he also 'made it clear the event would be tightly monitored with a strict guest list.' According to Gosa Sr., Purvis did not begin messaging him on the day of the funeral until around 5:10 p.m., at which point she called him 'evil' and accused him of deliberately keeping her off the guest list. Gosa Sr. said he responded with a photo of the guest list, which included her name. He also told TMZ that Purvis' family attended the service starting at around 3 p.m. Purvis' Facebook allegations mark the latest chapter in a years-long dispute between the former couple, who appeared together on the first season of MTV's 16 and Pregnant in 2009, while Purvis was pregnant with Weston Jr. The pair separated shortly after the series ended in 2014, and Gosa Sr. was granted full custody of both children in 2018. However, the former couple's legal trouble didn't end with their custody agreement. The 16 and Pregnant alum was arrested in 2015 for allegedly assaulting Gosa Sr. after breaking into his home through a window. Gosa Sr. obtained a restraining order against Purvis in 2020, alleging she had repeatedly threatened to murder him and his wife after the former couple got into an argument during a custody exchange. Purvis was arrested the following year and pleaded guilty on charges of 'felony Terroristic Threats and Acts' after making further threats to murder the Gosas. She was arrested again in 2024 for failing to pay child support to Gosa Sr. On Facebook, Purvis alleged that Gosa Sr. and his wife have deliberately painted her as a bad mother online while illegally keeping her away from their sons, violating their custody agreement, and ultimately keeping her out of Weston's funeral services. 'Ive let my sons father and [his] wife bash me online and make up their own narrative to make me sound horrible for years but im gonna stand up for myself this time,' Purvis wrote. 'No one deserves to go thru what they put me thru.' In perhaps the most shocking allegations, Purvis claimed that Gosa Sr. had violated their custody agreement by failing to provide medical insurance for Weston, who she said suffered from 'diabetes, Addison's disease, and alpha one [antitrypsin] deficiency.' 'His death could've been prevented,' Purvis added, explaining that her son 'should have had a Dexcom/glucose monitor that alerted when his sugar was going up or down to a dangerous level.' It's unclear whether Gosa Jr. was wearing a monitor at the time of his death, and his father has not addressed these allegations. 'In our custody order, he was supposed to have medical insurance on our kids; that was part of our agreement. That just doesn't sit right with me,' Purvis continued. 'I brought this up to [Gosa Sr.] a few days before the funeral, and he got mad, thinking I was accusing him of neglect, but I just wanted to understand.' Instead of providing medical insurance, Purvis alleges her ex took out a life insurance policy on their son. '[Gosa Sr.] bought five cars in the last six months but couldn't pay for medical insurance,' she added. In a June 3 Facebook post, Amy Gosa wrote that she had called an ambulance and attempted CPR after finding Weston unresponsive when she attempted to wake him that morning. She added that while his cause of death hadn't yet been confirmed, he had 'several health issues as well as diabetes.' Weston was later declared dead at the hospital. 'He was the most amazing son I could have asked for,' wrote Gosa. 'He was brilliant, smart, funny and had so much potential in life.' The Daily Beast has reached out to Purvis and Gosa for comment.

16 And Pregnant star Whitney Purvis missed funeral of her teen son after ‘showing up when the service had started'

The star of 16 And Pregnant Whitney Purvis reportedly missed her son Weston Jr's funeral, after revealing at the beginning of the month he'd died tragically at the age of just 16. She had him with then-boyfriend Weston Gosa during season 1 of the MTV reality TV show, in an on-off relationship in which they also had a younger son River, now 11. A source said she was turned away from the service at a Georgia funeral home on Saturday after being told by Sosa it would begin at 4pm, but it had already started at 2pm. The contact told TMZ when Whitney arrived she was told the service had already started, and she wasn't on the guest list. She was reportedly told leave the premises by funeral home staff, and no one from her side of the family was allowed in. But Gosa disputed this account, and told TMZ he told everyone including Whitney the viewing was at 2pm and the service at 4pm. He claimed he'd called Whitney to invite her, but said the event was tightly controlled with a rigid guest list. Gosa said Whitney arrived after 4.15pm when the service was underway and the doors were locked. He claimed the funeral director told her she was too late, which sparked a huge row. He said Whitney began messaging him around 5.10pm and called him 'evil' for keeping her out. He denied she wasn't invited and claimed her mom, aunt, and uncle did attend. Weston Sr added that on compassionate grounds, he and Weston Jr's stepmom Amy had purchased a separate urn of the boy's ashes for Whitney to keep. Whitney revealed his death in a Facebook post on June 2, and wrote: 'This is so hard to write. My beautiful son, Weston has passed away. He was only 16 years old. Life is so cruel and unfair. I just don't understand.' Amy Gosa shared the same day that 'we got up this morning around 7am and tried to wake him up, he was not breathing,' noting he 'had several health issues as well as diabetes.' Weston Sr has since revealed the boy died of natural causes, according to his death certificate. Whitney added in another post: 'Rest in Peace, my baby Weston. I love you forever, precious. I'll never understand why life has to be so cruel. You'll always be my baby.' 'This is so hard to write. My beautiful son, Weston has passed away. He was only 16 years old. Life is so cruel and unfair. I just don't understand,' she said Weston was born during the first season of MTV's 16 and Pregnant, to Whitney's boyfriend at the time, Weston Lewis Gosa. While the show ultimately spawned MTV's Teen Mom franchise, Whitney was one of just two moms not picked to appear in that show, along with Ebony Jackson. Weston Owen Gosa Jr. was born April 2, 2009, with Whitney giving birth to their second son River in 2014, just before they split up again. Whitney ultimately lost custody of both sons to Weston Sr., and she was arrested last year for failing to make child support payments. Weston Sr. has been arrested multiple times as well for driving on a suspended license, while both Whitney and Weston Sr. were arrested for smashing electronics in 2012.
