Texas A&M right-handed pitcher announces return for junior year in 2026
After battling through the adversity of an illness last season that caused him weight loss and significantly impacted his performance, Texas A&M's 6-foot-4 righty announced he is returning for his junior year. Montgomery, Texas, native Weston Moss added to numerous sources of good news for the Aggie baseball program on Monday by making his decision to remain in College Station official via social media. Before facing the sickness in 2025, Moss recorded a 3.19 ERA and 50 strikeouts through 48 innings of work. In 22 appearances on the mound, he also logged a 6-3 record and one save, while also holding opponents to a .215 batting average. With eight of his teammates selected in the 2025 MLB Draft, Moss was also on the board and awaiting his name to be called. According to TexAgs reporter Ryan Brauninger, he took numerous calls from franchises in the Major Leagues, but did not feel like anything was worth leaving Aggieland. While his stellar numbers on the rubber stand out, his fiery personality and heart make him one of the most beloved Aggies on the roster. Heading into a season in which great bullpen performances will be needed, his announcement sparks much excitement throughout the Aggie fan base. A prime example of his clutch ability came when he tossed six shutout innings and six strikeouts in relief against Kentucky on March 28. Following his outstanding outing facing the Wildcats' lineup, second-year head coach praised Moss for his work on the mound for the Maroon and White. Ranked as the No. 6 right-handed pitcher in the state's 2023 class by Perfect Game USA, Moss made waves for his mentality and swagger. The No. 17 overall prospect in Texas reached a 95 mph velocity as a junior. When he arrived on Texas A&M's campus, he secured a 3-0 record with a 4.56 ERA and 26 punchouts. Moss improved those numbers last year and instantly displayed a knack for setting hitters down and dominating lineups in the most competitive conference in the country. His return for Earley's club in 2026 will provide an exhilarating personality on the mound for the Aggies in a much-needed position. Texas A&M's bullpen has faced a plethora of challenges over the last year and will need all the help it can get against the powerful lineups in the SEC. Aggie fans and media react to Texas A&M's 9-6 loss to Missouri after 9th inning collapse
Aggie fans and media react to Texas A&M's 9-6 loss to Missouri after 9th inning collapse Texas A&M (27-21, 10-15 SEC) entered Friday night focused on defeating a last-place Missouri team that entered the series 0-24 in the conference play and just 13 wins on the season, as the Aggies' powerful batting lineup and efficient pitching staff looked more than capable of not succumbing to an upset, especially inside Blue Bell Park. Well, baseball is both humorous and excruciating, depending on which side you're on, as the Aggies held a dominant 6-1 lead in the bottom of the third, but just like the baseball gods drew it up, the home team couldn't muster another run for the rest of the game, while the Tigers' two-run kept them squarely in the game, leading to A&M's epic collapse in the top of the ninth. Still leading 6-3, Texas A&M's most reliable reliever, Weston Moss, entered the mound in a decent spot to end the game, just like he did against LSU in Game 3 on Sunday afternoon. Surprisingly, Moss struggled to find any rhythm, allowing Missouri to tie the game at 6-6, and after coach Michael Earley replaced Moss with Kaeden Wilson, the Tigers took the lead with three more runs after an error and wild pitch completing the A&M's massacre. The Aggies aren't eliminated from postseason contention, but this greatly damages their chances, and will likely require four more wins during the regular season to earn an at-large bid for the regional round. Was this loss a fluke, or the start of a poor finish before the SEC Tournament? Aggie fans and media members reacted to the shocking defeat. Aggie fans are feeling it tonight Missouri notches its first conference win of the season, of course Yes, if that is the case, this one will haunt every coach, and player for a long, long time There aren't any excuses for this one Texas A&M has dropped in the RPI standings after the loss Soul searching is needed before Game 2 Rough is an understatement Texas A&M will likely need four more wins in the regular season At least John won some money! There it is. The Aggies have a lot of work to do As I stated, there are two roads Will the Aggies lock in? The college baseball experts weigh in on the Texas A&M vs Missouri series
The college baseball experts weigh in on the Texas A&M vs Missouri series With just two series remaining in SEC baseball play, Texas A&M improved its postseason hopes after taking the series last weekend from then-ranked No. 2 LSU. The Aggies are not out of the woods, still needing to win at least three of the next six games to be considered for a regional spot. Texas A&M secured a pivotal SEC baseball series victory against LSU, splitting the first two games before Caden Sorrell's clutch three-run home run propelled the Aggies to a 6-4 lead in the decisive matchup. Weston Moss, recovering from an illness, shut down LSU's offense in the ninth inning, retiring three straight batters and delivering a much-needed win for Texas A&M. Now, as the Missouri Tigers come to Bryan-College Station, the Aggies have an opportunity to strengthen their SEC standings. A series sweep would push Texas A&M to 13 conference wins, setting the team up for a more relaxed approach heading into the final weekend of SEC play. For Coach Michael Earley, his inaugural season as head coach has presented plenty of challenges, but with the SEC Tournament and NCAA baseball postseason approaching, the pressure is mounting. Texas A&M must capitalize on the upcoming matchups to solidify its position among college baseball's elite. Below are the series picks from the teams over at SEC Unfiltered and College Baseball Central. 'I just\nsimplified the game' Texas A&M RHP Weston Moss speaks after win over LSU
'I just simplified the game' Texas A&M RHP Weston Moss speaks after win over LSU The Texas A&M vs. LSU series was a showcase of dominant pitching, with both teams striking out batters and demonstrating strong defensive performances outside of a few errors. With Aggie starting pitchers delivering solid outings, the decision of who closes games became crucial. After Josh Stewart was shut down for the season, the coaching staff took a trial-by-fire approach, allowing Weston Moss to rise to the occasion. However, Moss battled through a tough illness, losing nearly ten pounds in recent weeks. His struggles were evident in the Texas series, but after rest and hydration, he returned to peak form. The best example came in Game 3 against LSU, when he entered in the top of the ninth inning and sealed the win for Texas A&M. Following the game, Moss sat with the media, discussing his challenging road to recovery and the frustration of feeling less than his best. "It was very frustrating. You know it's a big part of our season right now and me not being healthy, not good, and I'm just glad I'm getting better. Not 100% but we're getting there and I'm happy about that, but mentally we're 100%. So that's all that matters" Below is the full press conference after Game 3 of the LSU series.
