Could Table Mountain see some snow this weekend?

It's been a cold, wet and windy start to the winter season in the Cape, and another strong weather system is set to see temperatures plunge in the coming days, with some snow predicted for high-lying areas and mountains – possibly even Table Mountain. According to the ever reliable WindGuru predictor, a strong cold front will bring plenty of rainfall from Thursday, which is likely to persist through to Sunday. It is the plunging temperatures on Sunday that will certainly catch the attention of those in Cape Town, with single digits expected in the early hours of the morning, while its unlikely to rise much beyond 12°C even at the peak of the day. There is some snow predicted across the high-lying areas and mountain passes of most provinces between Thursday and Monday, but it's really the Western Cape peaks that could get quite a heavy dusting of snow. Interestingly, there is even a chance that the iconic Table Mountain could see some snowfall, although if it is does materialise on Sunday, it's expected to be extremely light. There is also a chance of some light snowfall in Gauteng as temperatures plunge to the low single digits during the early hours, particularly on Monday. How much rain can fans expect at Springbok game in Cape Town?

A fierce cold front hit Cape Town on Wednesday, and it will bring plenty of rain and chilly temperatures over the next few days, which will undoubtedly also be capturing the attention of Springbok fans heading to the DHL Stadium this Saturday. As it stands, according to the ever-reliable WindGuru weather forecaster, there is heavy cloud cover predicted throughout the day on Saturday and temperatures are not expected to peak much beyond 14°C. There is predicted to be some light precipitation around in the morning, but the good news is that there is not expected to be much rain for most of the afternoon. There could be some showers in the evening from 19:00 onwards, though, and so fans would still do well to pack some raincoats and umbrellas just in case this arrives earlier. Although the weather might mean this is unlikely to be a typical 'Barbarians' attack-fest, it should still be a very entertaining game. Looking ahead, Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus said: 'A whole lot of players in this squad have played for the Baabaas, and I've also coached them before, so we have an idea of what to expect from them. 'They don't have much time to train together as a group, but if one looks at the calibre of players they have announced so far and the history between the teams over the years, we know it's going to take a top-class effort to get the desired result. 'That said, we are pleased with how our preparations are going, and our focus in this match will be to get our structures and systems in place for the Test matches coming up. So, this is a vital game for us.' Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211. Weather: Sunny reprieve across SA before winter arrives

There is some warm and sunny weather expected around South Africa for at least a couple more weeks. Image: Canva The winter weather months of June and July are looming on the horizon, and some residents in SA will need to begin stocking up on some extra blankets or umbrellas, but the good news is that there doesn't seem to be an immediate rush for that. Of course, it's generally those in the Western Cape areas who begin to look warily at weather forecasts at this time of year, but there does still seem to be a couple more weeks of pleasant autumn weather to look forward to. In Cape Town, the reliable long-term forecast from WindGuru suggests that the next two weeks should have high temperatures hovering between 18°C and 23°C, with very little rain or strong winds predicted. It could all change quite dramatically from next month, but it does seem that there should be some decent weather for Capetonians to enjoy for at least another couple weeks. Looking at Johannesburg, temperatures in the mornings and nights are beginning to fall, but midday highs of about 20°C look typically consistent for the next two weeks, with no forecast of heavy rainfall or storms. OTHER SA WEATHER TO NOTE In Durban, this is the time of the year when the weather in KZN is always extremely enviable, as evidenced by the fact that temperatures this weekend could reach as high as 26°C, with clear and calm conditions. For the most part, warm and humid autumn weather looks like the order of the day for foreseeable future for Durbanites to enjoy, with the only sign of significant rain forecast for 26 May. Down the coast, Port Elizabeth also looks set for some last rays of what will seem like summer, with temperatures reaching as high as 26°C on Wednesday, and touching 30°C on Friday. Meanwhile, the SA Weather Service has actually issued a heatwave warning for the north-western parts of RSA, lasting until 16 May. HOW DO YOU PLAN TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF SOME OF THIS GOOD WEATHER?
