Tay-Liew pair secure victory in WCGC Malaysia second qualifier
KUALA LUMPUR: Tay Cher Haw and Liew Vin Sern delivered a standout performance to clinch the second qualifying round of the World Corporate Golf Challenge (WCGC) Malaysia, held yesterday at Tropicana Golf & Country Club, Petaling Jaya. Representing Seng Haw Timber Sdn Bhd, Cher Haw (handicap 9) and Vin Sern (18) amassed an impressive 49 points in the Two Ball Best Ball Stableford format to outplay 124 participants and secure the title at the Enotech-sponsored event. Their victory also earned them a spot in the WCGC Malaysia National Final, scheduled for 25 September at Kota Permai Golf & Country Club, alongside the top four. Fourth place went to Muhammad Feyyaz (9) and Amirul Adli Senu (5) of Feyyaz Sports Group, also with 45 points on OCB, while Muhammad Firdaus Said (5) and Mohd Azwan (17) of Sinar Jernih Sdn Bhd secured fifth spot under the same condition. In the first qualifier held last month at Seri Selangor Golf Club, five teams had already booked their tickets to the national final. They include Syah Rizal Basri and Mohd Rizal Mohd Sahibek (Megar Jaya 1), Hafizi Zainal and Abdul Malik Hasim (Event Pro Venture), Nor Azhar Mohamad Noor and Mohd Izzad Ibrahim (NA Sales & Services), Draman and Khairun (Mega Bina Trading), and Roslan Piei and Megat Shariffudin Shaharuddin (InfraSel Sdn Bhd). The third leg of WCGC Malaysia will take place at Glenmarie Golf & Country Club on 22 July, followed by the fourth at Templer Park Country Club on 21 August. The champion of the Malaysian final will represent the country at the WCGC World Final, to be held at PGA Anying Golf Club in Shanghai, China, from 19–23 October. The tournament's Royal Patron, Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, officially launched WCGC Malaysia at Glenmarie Hotel & Golf Resort on 23 April. WCGC Malaysia is supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), Malaysian Golf Association (MGA), Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI), and the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS).

104 players compete in WCGC Malaysia qualifier at Seri Selangor Golf Club
PETALING JAYA: A total of 104 golfers representing 52 corporate teams teed off in the first qualifying round of the World Corporate Golf Challenge (WCGC) Malaysia at the prestigious Seri Selangor Golf Club (SSGC) recently. Presented by ENOTECH, the WCGC Malaysia aims to strengthen corporate ties and promote business networking through the sport of golf, offering participants a unique and exhilarating experience on championship-level courses such as SSGC. The tournament, played in the Two Ball Best Ball Stableford format, saw fierce competition with the top five teams clinching early spots in the National Final scheduled for September 25 at Kota Permai Golf & Country Club. Emerging victorious was the Megar Jaya 1 team of Syah Rizal Basri (handicap 7) and Mohd Rizal Mohd Sahibek (handicap 3), who secured first place on countback with a combined Stableford score of 45 points. Close behind in second was Event Pro Venture's pairing of Hafizi Zainal (handicap 11) and Abdul Malik Hasim (handicap 9). NA Sales & Services, represented by Nor Azhar Mohamad Noor (handicap 8) and Mohd Izzad Ibrahim (handicap 3), finished third with 44 points, also via countback. The Mega Bina Trading duo of Draman (handicap 5) and Khairun (handicap 14) claimed fourth, while the final qualifying spot went to InfraSel Sdn Bhd's Roslan Piei and Megat Shariffudin Shaharuddin (both handicap 5), who recorded 43 points. The tournament is supported by the Youth and Sports Ministry, Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) and the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS). The next qualifying round is scheduled to take place at Tropicana Golf & Country Club on June 24.

M'sia gears up for World Corporate Golf Challenge
OFFERING corporate Malaysia a unique platform to strengthen its internal and external relationships through golf, the prestigious World Corporate Golf Challenge (WCGC) Malaysia 2025 was officially launched on Wednesday in a grand ceremony at the Glenmarie Hotel & Golf Resort Ballroom in Shah Alam, Selangor. Graced by the presence of the Raja Muda of Selangor and Royal Patron of WCGC Malaysia Tengku Amir Shah, the launch sets the stage for an exciting series where business and sport converge on the greens. The WCGC Malaysia 2025 will feature four preliminary legs played at four of the Klang Valley's top golf courses from May to August, culminating at the national final at Kota Permai Golf & Country Club on Sept 25, 2025. The champions of the national final will represent Malaysia and their companies at the WCGC World Final in Shanghai, China, from October 19-23, 2025, in an environment that fosters sporting talent and, above all, international networking.
