Sharmila blames Jagan, Avinash Reddy for negligence
Kadapa: APCC president Y S Sharmila extended her support to the students protesting at YSR Architecture and Fine Arts University, questioning how the university admitted students without securing approval from the Council of Architecture (COA). Expressing deep concern, she said the students' future now hangs in the balance. 'Each student has spent nearly Rs 15 lakh on their education and is about to complete a five-year course. At this stage, there is uncertainty about whether they will receive valid certificates. This is extremely distres ing,' the state Congress chief said. Sharmila pointed out that the university was established in 2020 without COA approval, and the government misled students while admitting the first batch. 'Even now, the first batch hasn't been enrolled officially with COA. How can the administration gamble with students' futures like this?' she said, blaming former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and MP Y S Avinash Reddy for negligence. Sharmila further said, 'Why did they remain silent despite knowing that COA approval was not in place? Why didn't they make efforts to secure approval when they were in power? COA is based in Delhi—why didn't MP Avinash Reddy engage with the council?' She said the current coalition government now bears the responsibility of correcting this mistake committed by the previous regime. 'For the past one year, students have been fighting for COA recognition. With BJP in power at the Centre and COA based in Delhi, why is this small issue still unresolved? What will happen to the careers of these students if they don't get certified?' she said. Sharmila said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan and education minister Nara Lokesh must answer for this and demands that the issues faced by architecture students should be solved immediately.

She has pointed out that LPG Gas Cylinders, Talliki Vandanam schemes are also not properly implemented, and 45 lakhs farmers are listed under Annadatha Sukhibhava Scheme against 80 lakhs farmers existing in the State. She also pointed out that Gravity Based Project(GBP) Polavaram project turned like Lift Irrigation Scheme(LIS) following reduction of its height from 45 meters to 41.5 meters. She alleged that injustice is being made to the Andhra Pradesh in various issues like Special Category Status (SCS) Visakha Railway Zone, as MPs representing from both coalition and YSR Congress parties have no guts to question the BJP led NDA government in the Parliament because they turned ' Puppets' in the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for their parties vested interest. While asserting the need of Rahul Gandhi to become Prime Minister of India, especially in the interest of AP development, YS Sharmila claimed that this was the reason party high command deployed her as PCC president. While recalling the incident in which a person was crushed to death after falling under the Jagan Mohan Reddy's vehicle in his recent tour, the PCC leader questioned that why the government allowing 'Jagan' for such tours causing of Law & Order issues in the State. ' I don't understand several times government arrested me when launched fast unto death over Visakha Railwat Zone, and failure of the government over implementing of Super Six issues but it is allowing 'Jagan' to conduct tours for showing 'Bala Pradarsana' in the name of 'Odarpu Yatra' she pointed out.

Talliki Vandanam excluded 20 lakh students: APCC president Sharmila
KADAPA: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president YS Sharmila launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's one-year governance report, dubbing it an 'election campaign pamphlet' filled with tall claims and broken promises. Speaking to the media during her visit to Kadapa on Thursday, Sharmila raised questions over the implementation of the Talliki Vandanam scheme. 'There are 87 lakh students in the State, but only 67 lakh have benefited from Talliki Vandanam. What about the remaining 20 lakh students?' she asked, alleging that they have been deceived. Sharmila criticised the NDA government for claiming that every student would benefit from the scheme. 'How is this a tribute to mothers when 20 lakh students are excluded?' she questioned, demanding that the scheme be extended to all students. Targeting the NDA, she said, 'This marks one year of Naidu's rule, and his so-called report card reads more like a glorified election pamphlet.' She challenged the government to clarify how much was promised and how much was delivered. 'Even after a year, promises like 'Super Six' remain directionless, and the promised free bus travel is still on hold, delayed under the guise of festivals,' she said. She emphasised that election manifestos are not mere documents to be ignored at will. 'They should have a five-year timeline, and should be implemented sincerely,' the APCC president said.

YS Sharmila slams BJP over privatisation plans for Vizag Steel Plant
Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President YS Sharmila has criticised the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP)-led Andhra Pradesh government for allegedly making decisions to "privatise" the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP). The APCC Chief said that Congress condemned the decision of the Centre, asserting that the party would "fight to the death" if it came to saving the Visakha steel. Speaking to ANI on Thursday, YS Sharmila said, "Yesterday, on behalf of the Congress party, I, the party President of Andhra Pradesh, was there at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant for an indefinite strike because 2000 employees of the plant were terminated without a cause or reason. Most of the 2000 people who were terminated from the plant are people who happened to have given their land for the construction of the plant." The APCC Chief claimed that the BJP "deliberately" wants the plant to run into losses in order to privatise it. "If the project stands today, it is because many people like them donated land to the Vishakhapatnam Steel. Today, the BJP deliberately wants Visakhapatnam Steel to run into losses so that they can privatise it and give it to people like Adani. The Congress party is against this. Yesterday, we were there, demanding that all 2000 people be reinstated. Today, we held a press meeting in Vijayawada to question the state government as to why they are extending support for this move by the central government," YS Sharmila said. "In 2021, the BJP announced that they are willing to privatise Visakha Steel, they have not gone back on that. In a recent statement, the Centre government clarified that the decision remains. The Congress party seriously condemns this and stands against it, and we will fight to the death, if it comes to that, for saving the Visakha steel," she said. Sharmila on Wednesday sat on a hunger strike in support of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) workers. She alleged that around 2,000 contract workers were dismissed without proper procedure or justification. She further claimed that until 2014, the VSP was a profitable enterprise, generating Rs 1,000 crore in profit, but it now faces a debt of Rs 28,000 crore. Speaking to reporters, the Congress leader said, "Andhra Pradesh Congress is here in Visakhapatnam Steel. We are going on an indefinite hunger strike because the management of VSP has terminated 2000 employees without any cause or proper procedure. The reason behind this is to kill this plant... Until 2014, this plant yielded a profit of Rs 1000 crores, but now, it stands on a debt of Rs 28000 crores...
