Motorcyclist injured after crashing into fallen tree in Butterworth
BUTTERWORTH: A man sustained minor injuries after his motorcycle crashed into a fallen tree in Jalan Teluk Air Tawar, near the Air Force base, this morning. The 31-year-old victim was riding a Yamaha LC135 motorcycle in the 6.23am incident. State Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations John Sagun Francis said a team of six from the Butterworth fire station was despatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call. "The team arrived at 6.30am and found that a tree had fallen on the road. A man riding a motorcycle suffered minor leg injuries after colliding into the tree. "The victim received initial treatment, then he was taken to the hospital by an ambulance." John said a car was also involved in the accident, but the 59-year-old driver was unhurt. He said special equipment was used to cut the tree to clear the road and to ensure the safety of road users. The operation concluded at 9.19am and the location was handed over to the local council for further action. In a separate incident, a 23-year-old man sustained serious injuries after his motorcycle collided with a lorry in front of a courier office in Jalan Permatang Bendahari, Penaga, this morning. The victim was reportedly pinned under a Mitsubishi Fuso lorry belonging to the courier company after his Yamaha Y15ZR motorcycle crashed into the front of the heavy vehicle. John said when rescuers arrived at the scene, they found the victim under the lorry. "Firefighters used special equipment to extricate the victim before handing him over to paramedics for further action.

Father and son caught processing ecstasy worth over RM1 million

MUAR - Police arrested a father-son duo and seized 6.38 kilogrammes of ecstasy powder worth over RM1 million during a raid at a house in Bukit Treh on Monday last week. Muar police chief ACP Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said the 49-year-old man and his 23-year-old son were caught in the act of allegedly processing the ecstasy powder by grinding it before packaging it into drink sachets. "The 4 pm to 10 pm raid led to the discovery of approximately 6,389 grammes of ecstasy powder worth RM1.06 million, along with various tools used for processing and repackaging the drugs. "We also seized a Perodua Myvi worth RM13,000 and a Yamaha Y15ZR motorcycle valued at RM7,000, both believed to have been used in the drug distribution activities. "The total value of the drugs and seized vehicles amounts to RM1.08 million. Investigations revealed the suspects began engaging in these illegal activities in February this year,' he said during a press conference at the Muar District police headquarters today. Raiz added that both suspects have prior drug-related criminal records, with the father having previously served a prison sentence. Father and son arrested for processing RM1 million ecstasy in Muar
MUAR: Police arrested a father and son for allegedly processing ecstasy powder worth over RM1 million in a raid at a house in Bukit Treh last Monday. The suspects, aged 49 and 23, were caught grinding and repackaging the drugs into drink sachets. Muar police chief ACP Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said the operation, conducted between 4 pm and 10 pm, uncovered 6,389 grammes of ecstasy powder. Authorities also confiscated processing tools, a Perodua Myvi (RM13,000), and a Yamaha Y15ZR motorcycle (RM7,000), believed to be used in drug distribution. 'The total value of the seized items is RM1.08 million. Investigations indicate the suspects started their illegal activities in February this year,' Raiz said during a press conference at the Muar District police headquarters. Both suspects have prior drug-related records, with the father having served prison time. The case is being investigated under Sections 15(1)(a) and 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Two motorcyclists killed, one injured in crash on PLUS Expressway
ALOR GAJAH: Two motorcyclists were killed while another was injured in an accident involving three motorcycles at KM220.2 of the North-South Expressway (PLUS) Melaka bound, yesterday. Alor Gajah police chief Superintendent Ashari Abu Samah said the victims, Farith Aiman Mohd Fairus, 21, who was riding a Honda RS150R, and Mohamad Shahril Anuar, 45, on a Yamaha MT-25, died at the scene from severe injuries in the 7.40pm crash. The third rider, R. Jeevankumar, 18, who was on a Yamaha Y15ZR, sustained abrasions on his left arm and leg and was taken to Alor Gajah Hospital for treatment. Ashari said initial investigations found that all three riders were travelling in the same direction from the north towards Melaka. As they approached the scene, Farith Aiman's motorcycle struck the rear left side of a lorry in the left lane, causing him to lose control and fall into the emergency lane. "His motorcycle then collided with Mohamad Shahril's bike in the emergency lane, which in turn crashed into Jeevankumar's motorcycle," he said in a statement today. Ashari added that the accident occurred during dark and rainy conditions. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless or dangerous driving causing death. All three motorcycles have been sent to the Puspakom centre in Rembia for further inspection.
