Nurse killed in Keningau accident
Fire and rescue personnel extracting the victim's body from the car. KENINGAU (July 26): A nurse was killed in a road accident along Jalan Patikang Ulu, here on Friday. Keningau District Police Chief Superintendent Yampil Anak Garai said the 47-year-old victim, who was attached with the Keningau Hospital, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics in the 4.10pm incident. Based on police investigation, the victim was driving her Perodua Axia car and was making a turn into Patikang Laut when a Toyota Prado, driven by a 62-year-old man, rammed the right side of her car. The victim was pinned at the driver's seat and fire and rescue personnel extracted her body and taken to the Keningau Hospital for a postmortem. Family members have been notified of the incident, said Yampil. The Toyota Prado driver has been detained for investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Nurse killed after SUV crashes into her car in Keningau
KENINGAU: A 47-year-old nurse was killed after the car she was driving was rammed by another vehicle at Jalan Patikang, near the Patikang Laut junction, yesterday. In the 4.10pm incident, the victim, Hilen Tingu, who was attached to Keningau Hospital, succumbed to her injuries and died at the scene after her Perodua Axia was struck on the right side by a Toyota Land Cruiser. District police chief Superintendent Yampil Anak Garai said preliminary investigations showed both vehicles were travelling from the Agudon roundabout towards the Bakiau roundabout. "Upon reaching the scene, the victim is believed to have turned right into the Patikang Laut junction when her vehicle was hit from behind by the Toyota Land Cruiser, driven by a 62-year-old man. "The impact caused her car to be dragged to the left shoulder of the road, and she was pinned in the driver's seat," he said when contacted yesterday. He said firefighters extricated the victim from the vehicle, and she was confirmed dead by a medical officer from Keningau Hospital's emergency department. The driver and two passengers of the Toyota Land Cruiser sustained only minor injuries. The body was sent to the hospital's Forensic Unit for a post-mortem. "The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said.

Five held for drugs in Keningau

Keningau District Police Chief Superintendent Yampil Anak Garai said the suspects were detained for various offences under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and the Firearms Act 1960. 'One of the suspects was arrested under Section 12(3) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 8 of the Firearms Act 1960 after he was found in possession of 1.50 grams of syabu, seven live bullets, and a homemade 'bakakuk' firearm,' he said in a statement. Another man was detained under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act for possessing 0.19 grams of syabu. Meanwhile, three other men tested positive for drug use and are being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act. Superintendent Yampil said police would continue to carry out aggressive operations to curb crime, particularly drug abuse, in the district. 40-year-old woman killed in Keningau crash

KENINGAU: A 40-year-old was killed after being struck by a Toyota Hilux in front of a bank along Jalan Masak here on Monday night. District Police Chief Supt Yampil Anak Garai said the victim, identified as Suzila Adip from Kampung Samalang, died on the spot. A medical officer from Keningau Hospital confirmed she died at the scene. The incident occurred around 7.30pm as Suzila, who worked at a local café, was crossing the road in a poorly lit area. 'The Hilux, travelling from Keningau town towards Jalan Masak, hit her as she crossed from left to right. 'The impact caused the victim to be flung forward and landed in front of an oncoming Proton Saga,' he said. Police received an emergency call about the incident at 7.40pm. The body was taken to the hospital's forensic unit for a post-mortem. Both vehicles involved were brought to the police station. The drivers of both the Hilux and Proton Saga were unharmed. There were no immediate signs of intoxication, but blood samples were taken for toxicology analysis. Student injured, man killed in Keningau crash

Keningau District Police Chief, Superintendent Yampil Anak Garai, confirmed the incident, stating the Proton Iswara driver died at the scene. The injured driver, a student from a local college, was treated at Keningau Hospital. "Initial investigations revealed the Iswara was heading from Sook to Keningau, while the Proton Saga was traveling in the opposite direction.
