Sana'a - Saba: Dr. Khaled Al-Hawali, Minister of Civil Service and Administrative Development, inspected the workflow in the laboratories of the Yemeni Standards, Metrology, and Quality Control Authority on Monday. During the visit, the Minister was briefed by Sam Al-Bashiri, the Executive Director of the Authority, on the work and tasks carried out in the testing departments for various goods and commodities. The explanation included the necessary testing procedures to ensure compliance with approved standard specifications, which contribute to health and environmental protection while supporting the national economy. The Minister of Civil Service praised the level of performance at the Authority and the development of services provided through the "Tasheel" e-services portal. He expressed satisfaction with the qualitative and dynamic activity witnessed during the visit, highlighting the direct link between the Authority's work and citizens' health and safety by ensuring the integrity of all purchased materials—whether food or industrial—and their compliance with approved standards and specifications. Meanwhile, the Executive Director of the Authority reviewed the Authority's efforts in enhancing the work environment, task performance, and efficiently achieving objectives to safeguard public health and safety, protect the environment, and support the national economy. He affirmed that the Authority is working to improve secure infrastructure despite the challenges it faces and the limited available space. He noted that the Authority aims to implement expansion projects to develop its work, particularly in testing and inspecting all materials, commending the government's support for the Authority's plans and programs. Sana'a - Saba: The Yemeni Standards, Metrology, and Quality Control Authority destroyed on Monday a quantity of violating goods and commodities. The Authority explained in a statement, a copy of which was received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), that the Authority destroyed a quantity of mango and orange juice that did not meet approved standard specifications. The product was leaking and damaged due to damage to the container caused by the Israeli aggression on the port of Hodeida, which led to partial destruction of the product inside the container. It also indicated that a quantity of frozen chicken without entrails was destroyed, which did not meet approved standard specifications due to the presence of blood and discoloration of the product. A quantity of truck oil filters was also destroyed, as they are prohibited products. The statement emphasized that the destruction was carried out in accordance with the law and the authority's powers, in cooperation with customs, security agencies, and relevant authorities. In a statement, the authority clarified that this product contains a prohibited narcotic substance whose use in food products is forbidden due to its potential negative effects on consumer health. YSMA strongly advised consumers, wholesalers, and retailers against purchasing or selling this item.
