Six government colleges in Coimbatore district have intake limit of 3,967 seats for first year UG programmes
The intake limit in Government Arts College (Autonomous), Coimbatore, is the highest among the government institutions in the category with a capacity to admit 1,727 students.
Including the eight additional courses sanctioned in shift II, the college will be offering 23 UG programmes in both shift 1 and 11, from 2025-26, Principal M.R. Yezhili said.
Since admission will entirely be based on score in Plus Two and as per Tamil Nadu Government communal reservation system, students are advised to choose more number of courses while applying, Prof. Yezhili aid.
The other government colleges are in Mettupalayam (intake of 480), Valparai (520), Puliakulam (410), Thondamuthur (410), and Pollachi (420).
The students admitted in government colleges are exempted from paying tuition fee. Those among the students in government and government-aided colleges who had undergone their schooling in government schools from levels VI to XII are entitled to monthly assistance of ₹1,000 (Under Pudhumai Pen scheme for girls and Tamil Pudhalvan scheme for boys).
Students get trained in skills for securing jobs, and are provided with other educational assistance schemes of the government, free bus pass, District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar said in a press release.
Students could download their application from the website: from May 7 to 27, the press release said.
Admission facilitation centres have also been established in the government colleges.
Application fee of ₹48 and registration fee of ₹2 could be remitted through debit card/credit card/net banking/ UPI.
