Minister launches saplings plantation drive on birthday

Banaganapalle: Commemorating his birthday, Minister for Roads & Buildings, Investments, and Infrastructure, BC Janardhan Reddy, launched a large-scale tree plantation programme titled Haritha Banaganapalle on Saturday. The initiative, aimed at transforming Banaganapalle into a green and eco-friendly town, was spearheaded by the Minister and his wife B C Indiramma, who personally funded the purchase of saplings and plant containers worth Rs 30 lakh. The event commenced with a rally from the Minister's camp office to the local petrol bunk circle, drawing participation from students, government employees, coalition leaders and residents. A public meeting which was held at the rally's culmination point was attended by Nandyal District Collector G Rajakumari, who joined the Minister and his wife in planting saplings at the government hospital premises. Speaking at the gathering, Minister Janardhan Reddy emphasised the importance of restoring Banaganapalle's lost greenery and transforming it from a 'concrete jungle' into a model green town. He noted that around 5,000 rare and high-quality saplings were specially sourced from the Kadiyam nurseries of East Godavari district for this initiative. As part of the programme, saplings were planted along road dividers, in public institutions, hospitals and schools. The Minister called upon citizens to take ownership of the plants by nurturing them into full-grown trees, adding that community involvement is critical to the success of such environmental efforts. He also reiterated the town's progress in becoming plastic-free, a campaign launched six months ago under the leadership of B C Indiramma, and urged the remaining commercial establishments to join hands in achieving 100% plastic elimination. District Collector G Rajakumari lauded the Minister's commitment to sustainability and the enthusiastic participation of students and youth in the event. She stressed that meaningful change begins at the local level and praised the town's continued efforts to promote clean air, water and a healthy environment.

Banaganapalle set to become model for P4 implementation: Min Janardhan

Banaganapalle: Minister for Roads & Buildings, Investments, and Infrastructure, BC Janardhan Reddy, emphasized the need for coordinated efforts to achieve the targets of Swarna Andhra Vision-2047 in Banaganapalle constituency. Addressing the first Vision Action Plan Committee meeting held at the Mandal Parishad Office on Thursday, the minister directed officials to design a clear and comprehensive roadmap for local implementation. Senior officials from various departments, RDOs, MPDOs, representatives from Ramco, Jai Jyothi, and UltraTech Cements, along with secretariat staff and Swarna Andhra Vision Committee members, were present. Minister Reddy stated that the P4 initiative (Public–Private–People Partnership for Progress), conceptualized under the leadership of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, aims to bridge the socio-economic gap between the rich and the poor. He stressed that inclusive development is only possible when communities, industrialists, officials, and elected representatives come together to support marginalized families at the grassroots level. The minister expressed confidence that such collaborative efforts would accelerate progress toward realizing the goals of the Swarna Andhra 2047 vision. As part of the P4 programme, a survey conducted by secretariat staff across five mandals in the constituency has identified 6,500 'Golden Families.' To support these families, 157 mentors have been selected and linked with them. Appreciating the mentors for their proactive participation, the minister instructed officials to expand outreach efforts and encourage more financially capable individuals—including landowners, businesspersons, NRIs, and professionals—to participate in the adoption programme and support more families. The minister also underscored the importance of skill development for unemployed members within the identified families. Citing employment opportunities in local cement industries, he advised the District Skill Development Authority to focus on job-specific training in areas like machinery operation, fitting, and turning. Highlighting the moral responsibility of industries that had acquired land from farmers, he called on them to prioritize offering jobs to those families. He concluded by urging officials to make Banaganapalle a role model for P4 implementation in the state, ensuring sustained and inclusive socio-economic progress.

Morocco, Turkiye Sign Transport Cooperation Agreements in Istanbul

Tangier — Morocco and Turkiye are joining forces to strengthen cooperation on road safety and maritime corridors. The two countries signed two cooperation agreements on Friday in Istanbul to foster bilateral ties in the transport sector. Morocco's Transport and Logistics Minister Abdessamad Kayouh and Turkiye's Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu signed the memoranda of understanding (MOU) during an international transport forum. Road safety technology partnership The first agreement between the two countries covers technological cooperation in road safety, with Morocco aiming to benefit from Turkiye's experience in securing freight transport by trucks. 'Morocco is interested in the Turkish experience in securing the transport of goods via trucks,' Kayouh told Morocco's official news agency MAP. Maritime fleet development The second memorandum supports Morocco's study to strengthen its national maritime fleet, based on Turkiye's significant experience in maritime navigation and shipbuilding. 'Turkiye has accumulated important experience in maritime navigation and shipbuilding,' the minister explained. International transport forum Morocco is participating in this three-day international event, from June 27-29, with a delegation led by Kayouh, including several directors and officials from the transport and road safety sector. Initiated by the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and the World Bank support, the event brings together high-level political decision-makers, ministers, representatives from international organizations and global financial institutions, industry and private sector leaders, and expert specialists. Focus on global transport networks The forum serves as a platform for strategic discussions on developing and improving international transport corridors. Beyond enhancing physical connectivity, the discussions cover key areas including sustainable development, green economy transition, and expanded use of renewable energy sources. Participants also explore digitization and artificial intelligence potential, innovative practices, effective financing solutions, and intensified regional cooperation on a global scale. Morocco's transport and maritime situation The signing of the MOUs comes at a time when the North African country's maritime transport fleet is experiencing a dramatic decline to only 17 vessels, down from approximately 70 ships in the 1960s and 1970s. Morocco's Ministry of Transport and Logistics has already initiated a study to reinvigorate the country's maritime capabilities, aiming to foster its logistical sovereignty and ease citizens' maritime transportation. To enhance the country's transport sector, the ministry has recently launched a comprehensive reform plan, focused on improving public safety, upgrading infrastructure, and enhancing service quality across various transport modes. The reform includes the renewal of the intercity bus fleet, professional training for drivers, and support for the rural and tourism transport sectors, as well as the car rental industry. Ration shops reopened in line with public demand: Minister BC Janardhan Reddy

Banaganapalle: In a move aligned with public sentiment, the coalition government has reopened fair price shops across the state starting today. Minister for Roads & Buildings, Investments, and Infrastructure, BC Janardhan Reddy, inaugurated the reopening of ration shops near the old bus stand in Banaganapalle town. Speaking at the event, the Minister stated that the decision to resume operations of the ration shops from June 1 was taken after extensive public feedback gathered through the IVRS (Interactive Voice Response System). 'The previous system of mobile ration distribution caused significant inconvenience to beneficiaries due to the lack of fixed timings and proper planning,' he said. He criticized the earlier government's approach of distributing ration through vehicles parked randomly on roads, forcing beneficiaries to stand in long queues without a clear schedule. 'People were put to hardship. It was never true door delivery; rather, it was centralized distribution at locations chosen by dealers and at timings of their convenience,' he noted. The newly reopened ration shops will operate with fixed hours and will remain open for 15 days each month, providing greater flexibility and accessibility for beneficiaries. Beneficiaries will be allowed to collect their ration from any shop during this period. Minister Janardhan Reddy further announced that special provisions are being made to deliver ration directly to the homes of the elderly and persons with disabilities who are unable to visit the shops. Strict action will be taken against dealers who fail to adhere to the new timing regulations. 'If necessary, we will suspend those who violate operational guidelines,' the Minister warned. In Banaganapalle mandal alone, there are 30,685 ration cardholders, of whom 2,665 will receive doorstep delivery of essential commodities as part of the initiative. Also present at the event were Banaganapalle Tahsildar Narayana Reddy and Deputy Civil Supplies Officer Nageswara Reddy, who extended their support to the new measures. The government's renewed focus on structured and accessible public distribution reflects its commitment to transparency, efficiency, and the welfare of ration beneficiaries.
