PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS Drops Epic Season 2 Teaser Trailer, Release Date, and Casting News — GeekTyrant
Disney brought the Olympian energy to Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con, confirming that Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 will premiere on Disney+ on December 10, 2025. Fans at the panel got a sneak peek at the highly anticipated Sea of Monsters adventure, plus some big casting updates that stretch beyond Season 2. If you're a fan of the series, the new Season 2 teaser delivers the good. The footage with demigods preparing for an 'inevitable' war. Dior Goodjohn's Clarisse makes an intimidating entrance, climbing out of a boat with pure warrior energy, while Charlie Bushnell's Luke sharpens his betrayal game, wielding a vicious-looking knife. 'Brace yourself, Perseus,' warns Poseidon as things heat up. When Annabeth asks Percy if he's ready to dive into the Sea of Monsters, his response is pure hero mode: 'Let's go do the impossible.' Fans also got a first look at Daniel Diemer's Tyson protecting Percy from a flaming attack, revealing his cyclops transformation in all its glory. The Gray Sisters even pop in for some comic relief, teasing Annabeth about Percy being her 'boyfriend.' Season 2 adapts The Sea of Monsters , the second book in Rick Riordan's fantasy adventure series. Percy's quest this time is to find the Golden Fleece to restore Camp Half-Blood's failing barrier and stop Kronos' forces. Disney+ describes the season as follows: 'After Camp Half-Blood's protective border is breached, Percy Jackson embarks on an epic odyssey into the Sea of Monsters in search of his best friend Grover and the one thing that may save the camp — the Golden Fleece. 'With help from Annabeth, Clarisse and his newfound cyclops half-brother Tyson, Percy's survival is crucial in the fight to stop Luke, the Titan Kronos, and their impending plan to bring down Camp Half-Blood — and ultimately, Olympus.' Executive producer Craig Silverstein said: 'So, Percy has to set out to set things right, and that means a quest to find the Golden Fleece, which is a legendary artifact that can heal anything or anyone, and he needs to use it to restore the protective barrier that surrounds Camp Half-Blood. So Season 2 is about Percy trying to hold all of his life together as it's breaking and changing. And that's your typical middle school experience.' Executive producer Dan Shotz hyped the scale of the new season, promising it's bigger and bolder: 'Season 2 is epic. It is so huge, what we were able to build. We are on the Sea of Monsters adventure. 'So, we are out at sea. We are on 175-foot ironclad ship. We are on cruise ships. We are in chariot races. We are fighting incredible monsters. It is so massive and we cannot wait for you guys to see.' Fans also got a hilarious preview of Aryan Simhadri in Grover's infamous wedding dress, straight from the book. Alongside the teaser, Riordan dropped the news that Levi Chrisopulos and Olive Abercrombie will join Percy Jackson and the Olympians in Season 3 as Nico and Bianca di Angelo, the mysterious children of Hades. Season 3 will adapt The Titan's Curse and is set to begin production soon. For Season 2, returning stars include Walker Scobell (Percy Jackson), Leah Sava Jeffries (Annabeth Chase), Aryan Simhadri (Grover), Charlie Bushnell (Luke), Dior Goodjohn (Clarisse), and Daniel Diemer (Tyson). Tamara Smart joins as Thalia Grace, with Jason Mantzoukas returning as Dionysus, and Timothy Simons stepping in as Tantalus. Lin-Manuel Miranda is back as Hermes, and Courtney B. Vance takes on the role of Zeus after the passing of Lance Reddick. Sandra Bernhard, Kirsten Schaal, and Margaret Cho will portray the Gray Sisters. Season 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians premieres December 10, 2025, only on Disney+.

Rap superstar Kendrick Lamar to get his very own university course
Rap's reigning champion Kendrick Lamar is currently on tour in Europe with SZA for their joint Grand National tour, which lands in Paris today before heading off to the UK, Spain, Italy and Poland. For any American fans who failed to get a ticket for the US leg of the tour, there's a recent piece of news that might come as some comfort – one which will need them to head back to university. Indeed, Kendrick Lamar's cultural legacy is set to become the subject of a university course in the US. As reported by NBC10, Temple University in Philadelphia will offer a course in their Fall 2025 semester titled "Kendrick Lamar and the Morale of M.A.A.D City" - a reference to both his albums 'Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers' and 'Good Kid, M.A.A.D City'. The course will be available to all students. It will be overseen by Timothy Welbeck, a professor for the Department of Africology and African American Studies and the Director for the Center For Anti-Racism at Temple. Welbeck, who has previously run classes based on the work of Tupac Shakur, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, said: 'Kendrick Lamar is one of the defining voices of his generation and in many ways, both his art and life is reflective of the Black experience in many telling ways.' He went on to explain that he believes the rapper's 'journey towards self-actualization' is related to the Black experience. 'My current department chair was very open to the idea and received it almost immediately,' he added. 'In a lot of ways, our department at Temple specifically, and Temple more broadly, has embraced the study of hip-hop in academic spaces.' That's all very well and good, but what about any eventual branching out with regards to European university courses? Lamar is far from the first musician to have a university course centered around their work. The likes of Beyoncé, Rihanna, Britney Spears and Taylor Swift have been the focus of uni courses in the US, while The Beatles and Bob Dylan are regular topics in various European universities. In 2022, the prestigious and highly-selective French school École Normale Supérieure (ENS) announced its students were going crazy in love with seminars on Beyoncé. Titled 'Beyoncé: nuances of a cultural icon,' the seminars aimed to reflect on the notions of culture and representativeness with a focus on the 'artistic orientation in a multidisciplinary way, through art history, contemporary literature, history and philosophy.' Similarly, the Belgian University of Ghent launched Europe's first Taylor Swift-inspired literature course in 2023, an elective course highlighting the themes, styles and techniques of famous historical literary writers like Robert Frost, Emily Dickinson, and Margaret Atwood – all from the US pop superstar's perspective. While courses on celebrity musicians are rarer in Europe, there are other initiatives available, like last year's Taylor Swift course offered by Glasgow Clyde College (GCC) in Scotland, to better educate parents who were accompanying their children to the singer's record-breaking The Eras Tour. Kendrick Lamar and SZA's Grand National tour is in Europe until 9 August. The two stars then head to South America and Australia, where the tour ends on 10 December. Lamar's most recent album, 'GNX', made our Best Albums of 2024 list last year. In our review, we said: '('GNX') may not be his most ambitious release, but it's a more directly accessible and less conceptual collection of songs compared to 2022's 'Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers' – more akin to 'DAMN.' in this sense. It's cinematic ('squabble up'), anthemic ('tv off'), lacerating ('wacced out murals'), slick ('luther', featuring SZA), and moving ('gloria'). The immediacy of the album doesn't mean that there isn't depth behind the bops, and Lamar's penmanship continues to be as precise and as ferocious than ever." Check out ourfull list of 2024's Best Albums, as well as ourBest Albums of 2025... So Far.

Trump told donors he threatened to ‘bomb the sh** out of Moscow' if Putin invaded Ukraine: Audio tapes reveal
In newly surfaced audio tapes from 2024 fundraisers, Donald Trump, then Republican-nominee for US President, boasted to donors that he directly threatened Russian President Vladimir Putin with bombing Moscow if Russia invaded Ukraine. 'With Putin I said, 'If you go into Ukraine, I'm going to bomb the sh*t out of Moscow. I'm telling you I have no choice,'' Trump said at one closed-door fundraiser, according to the tapes obtained by CNN and detailed in the new book 2024: How Trump Retook the White House and the Democrats Lost America by Josh Dawsey, Tyler Pager, and Isaac Arnsdorf. 'And then [Putin] goes, like, 'I don't believe you.' But he believed me 10%,' Trump added. The tapes, aired on Tuesday (July 8) by the news outlet, provide a rare window into Trump's claimed private dealings with world leaders during his 2024 campaign. Trump has long claimed the Russia-Ukraine war would not have happened if he had remained in office. Since returning to the presidency earlier this year, Trump has struggled to broker a resolution to the ongoing conflict, which has only intensified, leaving hundreds dead. 'We get a lot of bull---- thrown at us by Putin,' Trump said. 'He's very nice all the time, but it turns out to be meaningless.' 'We're not happy with Putin, I'm not happy with Putin, I can tell you that much right now. Because he's killing a lot of people. And a lot of them are his soldiers.' Despite this, Trump announced plans to send more US weapons to Ukraine, signaling both discontent with Moscow and an ongoing American commitment to Kyiv's defense. The tapes also captured Trump recounting a similar threat made to Chinese President Xi Jinping over Taiwan. 'He thought I was crazy,' Trump said of Xi. 'But we never had a problem.' Beyond foreign policy, Trump used the fundraising events to signal hardline domestic plans. He vowed to deport student protesters, particularly those involved in pro-Palestinian demonstrations. 'Any student that protests, I would throw them out of the country,' Trump said. 'Those people made a big mistake.' He added that this policy would 'stop' the wave of campus protests that had concerned conservative donors. When one attendee said some student activists might one day 'run the country,' Trump urged donors to give generously: 'If you get me elected, we will set that movement back 25 to 30 years.' The tapes also reveal Trump's aggressive fundraising tactics. At one event, he recounted turning a $1 million offer into a $25 million donation. 'He gave me $25 million,' Trump said. 'It's crazy.' He also claimed other major donors upped their contributions after pressure from him: 'You have to have the courage to ask,' Trump said. 'You have to get them into the mindset.' At a separate fundraiser, Trump made controversial comments about voting patterns and welfare. 'The unions give big money, the civil service stuff gives big money, and they have the advantage of welfare,' he said. 'The one thing that I have to say to my Jewish friends: You've got to get them to start voting Republican.' According to CNN, the Trump campaign declined to comment on the tapes, which had not been aired previously.

Trump boasted to donors that he threatened to ‘bomb the s–t out of Moscow' if Putin invaded Ukraine: audio
President Trump privately crowed to a group of donors last year that the bloody war in Ukraine 'never would've happened' under his watch because he warned Russian tyrant Vladimir Putin that he would 'bomb the s—t out of Moscow,' according to leaked audio. Trump claimed that he had similarly threatened Chinese leader Xi Jinping that he would bomb Beijing in order to deter him from attacking Taiwan, the audio from a 2024 fundraiser obtained by CNN reveals. 'With Putin I said, 'If you go into Ukraine, I'm going to bomb the s–t out of Moscow. I'm telling you I have no choice,'' the president is heard saying. 'And then [Putin] goes, like, 'I don't believe you.' But he believed me 10%.' 'He thought I was crazy,' Trump later recalled of Xi. 'We never had a problem.' REUTERS 'It [Ukraine] was the apple of his eye; he used to talk about it. But I said, 'You're not going in,' and he wasn't going in,' Trump recounted at a town hall in Pennsylvania last year. Many attendees at the fundraiser were heard cracking up as Trump recounted the ominous threats he gave to Putin and Xi. The Post has contacted the White House for comment.
