CRPF constable found dead in Bijapur

A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) constable, in his thirties, died by suicide at a camp in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district on Wednesday (July 30, 2025), said a senior police officer. Yadav, a resident of Thakuri village in Bhojpur district of Bihar, had joined duty on Tuesday after returning from leave, he said. He was on 'morcha duty' where he was one of the men guarding the outer periphery of the camp, said another officer. An investigation was underway to ascertain the exact reason that prompted him to take the extreme step, the officers said, adding that the mortal remains would be sent to his native place after postmortem. As many as 177 security personnel have died by suicide in the State between 2019 and June 15, 2025 of which 26 belonged to the CRPF, one of the central forces engaged in anti-Naxal operations, the State government had recently informed the Assembly. Bijapur: Police have arrested six Maoists, two of them carrying a cumulative reward of Rs 2 lakh, in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, and seized explosives from them, an official said on Wednesday. They were arrested during the martyrs' week being observed by Maoists from July 28 to August 3. "Security personnel apprehended two women Naxalites - Uika Seytu (32) and Uika Payki (33) - and four other cadres on Tuesday from a forest near Dharmapur village located under the Basaguda police station limits during an anti-Naxal operation," the official said. The District Reserve Guard (DRG), local police and 210 Central Reserve Police Force's elite unit Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) were conducting the operation, he added. Seytu was the Dandakaranya Adivasi Kisan Mazdoor Sangh (DAKMS) president, while Payki was active as Krantikari Adivasi Mahila Sangathan (KAMS) head. They carried a reward of Rs 1 lakh each on their heads, he added. The security forces seized tiffin bombs, detonators, safety fuse wires, electric wires, earth digging tools, pamphlets related to Maoist Martyrdom Week from them, the official said. A local court sent them to prison, he added.

366 CRPF sub-inspector cadets pass out from Central Training College in Coimbatore

A total of 366 cadets, including 12 women, of the 97th batch of Directly Appointed Sub Inspectors (DASOs) of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) completed their basic training at the Central Training College (CTC) in Coimbatore. The passing out-cum-attestation parade was held on Wednesday in the presence of senior officers and family members. Inspector General and Principal of the College, S. Langchinkhup, presided over the ceremony as the chief guest and reviewed the parade. In his address, he commended the cadets for their discipline and commitment during the 48-week training programme, which commenced on August 19, 2024. He also outlined the dynamic and challenging role of the CRPF in maintaining national security and the expectations placed on the newly-inducted officers. Awards were presented to cadets for excellence in various fields including overall performance, outdoor and indoor training, endurance, drill, and marksmanship. The event included operational demonstrations, a tree plantation drive, and a cultural programme. The comprehensive training regimen covered physical conditioning, law and order management, counter-insurgency, anti-terrorism and anti-Naxal operations, protection of vital installations, and VIP security. The cadets, drawn from various parts of the country, will now be deployed in key operational theatres including Jammu & Kashmir, Chhattisgarh, the North-East, and other strategic regions.

Agency: PTI Bijapur, Jul 30 (PTI) A constable of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service weapon in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district on Wednesday, officials said. The incident took place early morning at Mingachal camp of the CRPF's 22nd battalion under Naimed police station limits, a police official here said. Constable Pappu Yadav allegedly shot himself with his service rifle in the camp, the official said. Yadav, a resident of Thakuri village in Bhojpur district of Bihar, had joined duty on Tuesday after returning from leave, he said. An investigation was underway to ascertain the exact reason that prompted him to take the extreme step, the official said. The mortal remains will be sent to his native place after postmortem, the police added. In the recently concluded monsoon session of the Chhattisgarh assembly, the government informed that 177 security personnel committed suicide in the state between 2019 and June 15, 2025. Of them, 26 personnel belonged to the CRPF, which is extensively deployed in south Chhattisgarh for anti-Naxal operations.
