Marcus Rashford makes his mark in second Barcelona appearance
Manchester United's on loan star Marcus Rashford impressed once again as he grabbed an assist in FC Barcelona's 7-3 victory over Jesse Lingard's FC Seoul. Impressed last time out The 27-year-old impressed on his debut for Barcelona in their 3-1 victory over Vissel Kobe. He played a key role in their second goal of the game and was once again a threat in his second match. Impact off the bench The England international had to make do with another start from the bench but he managed to play the entire second half. He grabbed an assist for Barcelona's seventh goal by expertly sliding in a through ball for Ferran Torres to slot home. Earlier in the half, he almost scored his first goal for the Catalans. In trademark fashion, Rashford expertly cut inside and unleashed a fearsome drive but it was parried away by the South Korean side's keeper. He managed two shots on target to go alongside his assist, in an impressive all-round display. The United academy graduate completed 15 of his 18 passing attempts and made one key pass. The winger also competed in three ground duels, winning one and made one interception for his team. Lingard reunion The pre-season match provided the opportunity for Rashford to come up against his former teammate, Lingard. The two played for the youth team and senior team together until Lingard left the club in 2022. The Blaugrana will next take on South Korean side FC Daegu on the 4th August, where Rashford will be hoping to perhaps gain his first start. The England star could also theoretically make his domestic debut against Mallorca on the 16th August in La Liga. Featured image Paul Miller via Getty Images online polls Follow us on Bluesky: @

New Man Utd star Diego Leon gets brutally trolled by Manuel Ugarte after first ‘assist' for new club
MANUEL UGARTE took aim at Manchester United new boy Diego Leon after he suffered an awkward mishap while providing his first assist. Leon, 18, completed an Old Trafford transfer earlier in the summer for £3.3million - possibly rising to £7m - from Cerro Porteno. 6 6 6 6 6 The Paraguayan left-back comes highly rated and has already drawn praise from both manager Ruben Amorim and his team-mates. However, fellow South American Ugarte took a cheekier approach to hyping up his new colleague after he landed his first assist in United colours in an unusual manner. The teen had been one of nine changes made by Amorim in the 70th minute of Thursday morning's Premier League Summer Series clash against Bournemouth, won 4-1 by the Red Devils. And just moments after coming on, Leon had received the ball and was positive in driving towards the Cherries' defence. Following a heavy touch from the wing, Leon retrieved the ball and dribbled towards goal. But just as he was about to arrive at the edge of the penalty area, he tripped over and fell flat on his face. Luckily for Leon, the overlapping Ethan Williams was on hand to pick up the ball before it could be cleared and cut inside to score into the bottom corner with a devastating right-foot finish to the near post. Leon's gaffe was forgotten in the moment as United stars rushed to celebrate the goal of 19-year-old Williams. Ugarte, also a 70th-minute sub, expressed his congratulations to Leon for his "first assist" on social media after the game by sharing footage of the goal. However, the 24-year-old had his sights set on trolling his team-mate as the footage of the goal was edited over with a clip from the movie American Sniper. In the edited clip shared to the Uruguayan's Instagram story, Bradley Cooper 's character - Chris Kyle - can be seen preparing his sniper rifle while he aims at a target. The video then switches back to Leon as he dribbles towards goal before a shot is fired from the sniper and Leon goes tumbling over. Fans loved the dig on social media, with one fan saying: "Love the banter between them." A second said: "Uruguayan trolling a Paraguayan after a 4-1 win is all I wanted to see. Ugarte trolling Leon is the best thing you will see all week long." Another said: "VIBES FC MIGHT BE BACK!" A fourth added: "Brutal." Following United's opening pre-season game against Leeds, Amorim said of Leon: "We have to understand that the kid came from Paraguay and it's the first week, the second week in Manchester United. "He did really well, he's learning things, he's powerful. He's going to be a very good player." A pre-season assist, even in a rather unorthodox manner, is sure to do his confidence the world of good. The same could be said for Rasmus Hojlund, who opened the scoring against Bournemouth and was instrumental on the third by occupying defenders before Amad Diallo struck home. However, Amorim refused to guarantee the future of the Danish ace amid talk United are lining up a transfer for Benjamin Sesko. 6

Why Manchester United are now doing their shopping closer to home
P erhaps this sauntered into your social media feed this week: Matheus Cunha, playing five-a-side on a basketball court in his hometown of João Pessoa. Showcasing skills that come straight from the gods. In a clip that went viral, Cunha beats two players and puts his foot on the ball to draw another two in, then scoops the ball through a gap and hurdles their legs to escape. The instant he lands, there's a little back heel to set up a team-mate to score. A filthy, delicious assist. Manchester United fans, understandably, revelled in the footage, but in many ways it was irrelevant, shedding little insight into why their club signed Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers for £62.5million. Film they should really feast on involves Cunha scuffing home a winner against Bournemouth away in February, or passing in a straightforward finish versus Leicester City in April. He was recruited not for skills he might show in a Brazilian setting but output proven in a Premier League one.
