‘Did I Mention the Motor Blew Up On It?' Woman Buys Brand-New Jeep Wagoneer. Then It Makes This Sound in the Target Parking Lot
A couple demonstrates the issue with their Jeep Wagoneer in a Target parking lot. They say they've been unable to get answers from the automaker or the dealership where they purchased the vehicle.
TikTok user Tasha Hill (@tashagodfrey295) posted a video showing their Jeep struggling through a shopping center parking lot on June 24. Hill's husband drives around in slow circles as the Jeep makes an odd stuttering sound.
In the caption, Hill wrote that she attempted to address the issue with Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler, and Shottenkirk Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, which is the dealership where they purchased the vehicle.
'This specific problem here has happened numerous times since the beginning, in which I was told that since they couldn't duplicate the problem and I didn't have a record of it, they couldn't fix it or know what the problem was,' she wrote. 'Well, it finally did it to my husband and we have it recorded. Still, lo and behold: No one can do anything about it.'
Hill said this happens sporadically as she drives down the road. According to her, Chrysler promised to assign her a case manager, but she hasn't heard from anyone or been able to connect when they call.
'Did I also mention they can't give us the name of the person handling our case nor can we speak to that person??' she wrote. 'That's not suspicious at all.'
The Jeep Wagoneer's Mixed Reviews
Jeep is
one of several auto brands
owned by parent company Stellantis. The list also includes Chrysler, Dodge, and Ram. Just four and a half years after it was created through the merger of Groupe PSA and Fiat Chrysler, Stellantis faces a series of issues, and chief among them is customer discontent with its high-end Jeep models.
Hill said her Wagoneer is two years old, which would make it a 2023. Back in 2023,
we praised
the Hurricane 3.0-liter twin-turbo straight-six engine for its "smooth, quiet charm."
However, the customer experience was more uneven. Kelley Blue Book
reviews
of that model year mention electrical, reliability, and depreciation issues. One owner wrote, 'Something new breaks every other week.'
In January, the company
announced
a recall of nearly 80,000 Cherokee and Wagoneer vehicles due to an issue with the rearview camera.
Viewers Diagnose the Issue
In the comments section, several viewers suggested Hill's issue could be a problem with the Wagoneer's
four-wheel drive
.
'Same thing happened with my 4x4 Ford Explorer,' wrote one person. 'I had my 4x4 disconnected and it was fine. The computer got stuck in 4x4 and would not release.'
A second person agreed, 'Change the fluid in your rear differential. Make sure you use the correct fluid and additive.'
Other viewers just expressed relief that the video wasn't about Hill being stalked in the parking lot by an unidentified person. 'Please put a better caption,' someone wrote. 'I thought this guy was circling to get you or something.'
