‘Did I Mention the Motor Blew Up On It?' Woman Buys Brand-New Jeep Wagoneer. Then It Makes This Sound in the Target Parking Lot
TikTok user Tasha Hill (@tashagodfrey295) posted a video showing their Jeep struggling through a shopping center parking lot on June 24. Hill's husband drives around in slow circles as the Jeep makes an odd stuttering sound.
In the caption, Hill wrote that she attempted to address the issue with Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler, and Shottenkirk Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, which is the dealership where they purchased the vehicle.
'This specific problem here has happened numerous times since the beginning, in which I was told that since they couldn't duplicate the problem and I didn't have a record of it, they couldn't fix it or know what the problem was,' she wrote. 'Well, it finally did it to my husband and we have it recorded. Still, lo and behold: No one can do anything about it.'
Hill said this happens sporadically as she drives down the road. According to her, Chrysler promised to assign her a case manager, but she hasn't heard from anyone or been able to connect when they call.
'Did I also mention they can't give us the name of the person handling our case nor can we speak to that person??' she wrote. 'That's not suspicious at all.'
The Jeep Wagoneer's Mixed Reviews
Jeep is
one of several auto brands
owned by parent company Stellantis. The list also includes Chrysler, Dodge, and Ram. Just four and a half years after it was created through the merger of Groupe PSA and Fiat Chrysler, Stellantis faces a series of issues, and chief among them is customer discontent with its high-end Jeep models.
Hill said her Wagoneer is two years old, which would make it a 2023. Back in 2023,
we praised
the Hurricane 3.0-liter twin-turbo straight-six engine for its "smooth, quiet charm."
However, the customer experience was more uneven. Kelley Blue Book
reviews
of that model year mention electrical, reliability, and depreciation issues. One owner wrote, 'Something new breaks every other week.'
In January, the company
announced
a recall of nearly 80,000 Cherokee and Wagoneer vehicles due to an issue with the rearview camera.
Viewers Diagnose the Issue
In the comments section, several viewers suggested Hill's issue could be a problem with the Wagoneer's
four-wheel drive
.
'Same thing happened with my 4x4 Ford Explorer,' wrote one person. 'I had my 4x4 disconnected and it was fine. The computer got stuck in 4x4 and would not release.'
A second person agreed, 'Change the fluid in your rear differential. Make sure you use the correct fluid and additive.'
Other viewers just expressed relief that the video wasn't about Hill being stalked in the parking lot by an unidentified person. 'Please put a better caption,' someone wrote. 'I thought this guy was circling to get you or something.'

Connected vehicles that work seamlessly with your mobile devices are in greater demand these days, which is why Stellantis has just announced two new Connected Services packages for Dodge, Jeep, Ram, and Fiat models. According to the automaker, these bundle the most popular features together to suit customer needs. The Connect ONE pack is free and active for 10 years from the date of purchase or lease. Positioned above this is Connect Wi-Fi Plus, a premium package with a free three-month trial or a monthly subscription. Let's see what each package offers in more detail. This is the standard package on most Stellantis brands, with a list of essential connectivity features to help owners stay safe, keep track of the vehicle's status, and more. The following features are included here: Basic navigationOver-the-air software updatesRemote lock and unlock through the brand appAutomatic SOS calls and recall notificationsVehicle health reports, alerts, and service schedulingIn-vehicle gamesCharging and management tools for EVs This pack also includes a Digital Key, which allows users to access and start the car with a smartphone. However, Stellantis says this will only be available at a later stage. With the new Connect ONE package, several services are available for twice as long as they were before, such as the service scheduling function. Remote lock/unlock was only available for three months, but is now included for a full 10 years. Related: 6 Modern Car Features That Are Actually Worth the Money This pack adds more advanced features. In the first 30 days of purchasing or leasing a new vehicle, customers can enroll for a three-month trial. Thereafter, this pack will cost $17.99 per month. For that, you get the following: Wi-Fi hotspotStolen vehicle trackingAdvanced remote operations, such as activating the climate control remotelyDrive alerts, like speedVoice assistantAlexa Built-inConnected navigation, including map updates and real-time traffic updates "We've been listening to our customers and simplifying connected services to give them more value, more clarity and more control," said Cristiani Campos, senior vice president of the software business unit, Stellantis. "By including essential software for the full life of the vehicle and bundling popular features like Wi-Fi, we are giving our customers a connected experience that works better for everyday needs." These packages will be available on new and used Jeep, Ram, Fiat, and Dodge models from this month, with Chrysler and Alfa Romeo models to follow shortly. Customers with existing, eligible models can activate the services from this month, but not all features are available on all models. Hopefully, the new tech works smoothly and doesn't diminish the initial quality rating of certain Stellantis models like Ram and Chrysler, which is already poor. Copyright 2025 The Arena Group, Inc. Full Transcript This transcript was prepared by a transcription service. This version may not be in its final form and may be updated. Julie Chang: Here's your TNB Tech minute for Tuesday, July 8th. I'm Julie Chang for the Wall Street Journal. China's electric vehicle makers are anticipating greater growth following the signing of President Trump's US mega bill, that's according to the secretary general of the China Passenger Car Association today. The US law will end subsidies for EVs bought after September. The head of the Chinese Auto Industry Group said the bill should give China greater room to develop in overseas markets. According to the association, exports of new energy vehicles from China, which includes EVs and plug-in hybrids, jumped 48% in the first half of this year compared with the same period last year. Plus the mega bill's no tax on tips provision could bring in a two-point-five percent pay bump for Uber drivers. A couple of Bank of America analysts said in a research note that that could provide a modest tailwind to supply, which could help Uber collect more fees. The note also said the right-hill company may benefit from potential autonomous vehicles, saying Uber is backing an AV fleet manager that's raising $1.2 billion to finance a partnership with Waymo. Finally, Boldstart Ventures has raised a $250 million artificial intelligence fund. The vehicle will target AI founders at early stages of development, Boldstart will target sectors including AI infrastructure and application layer startups, cyber and crypto. According to data provider, CB Insights, in this year's first quarter, there were eight early-stage AI financings worldwide of $100 million or more, a quarterly record. And a reminder that we're on a new schedule starting this week, we'll have another tech minute for you tomorrow morning with full TNB episodes in the feed early on Tuesdays and Fridays.
