Ed Sheeran will need bodyguards until he dies
Ed Sheeran is convinced his family will need round-the-clock security protection until he dies. The pop star - who lives on a sprawling estate in Suffolk with his wife Cherry and their two children - has round-the-clock security protection in place and he's convinced they will need bodyguards "until I pass away" because of the "sinister" incidents that have taken place. During an appearance on Australia's 60 Minutes show, Ed explained: "It's things that people don't really even take into account. "Like kidnap threats and s*** like that. We've had attempted break-ins, things left on my car. It's way more sinister than just fans turning up and wanting selfies. "We have a level of security that probably won't change until I pass away. That's just our life now." Ed went on to confess he's also had some ugly rows with fans who have tried to take pictures while he's with his kids, Lyra, four, and Jupiter, three. He added: "I've had some real arguments before. I'm fine with taking pictures, but I just think it's weird with a four-year-old and a three-year-old ... "To be within the public sphere, you have to take it all, the good and the bad. But I think I would definitely want a more normal life for my kids ... "I want to still tour and have people come to the gigs and yes, I still want to make records and write songs every day. "But there's just a new set of challenges that I want to explore now, and that is having a family and being a dad." Ed previously revealed he stepped up security measures to protect his family after a "couple of weird things" have happened including an attempted break-in. During an appearance on The Louis Theroux Podcast, Ed explained: "I do think that there is a different kind of normal that is our business. I have like 24-hour security on my house. I have security with my kids. "I have security with me. I have security with my wife, just because there have been a couple of weird things over the years that have happened.' Just so you know there's lots of dangerous people out there. We've had like you know a break-in attempt. "In my industry, that's normal. That's kind of like an underlying thing that no one really talks about, but that is kind of a part of being in the public eye." Ed also revealed he rarely takes his children on outings in public because he's so concerned about them being photographed. He added: "I'm very, very private about my children's image ... I can't take them to zoos or parks or anything really without someone trying to film them. "There are times where the normal parts of life I kind of mourn for and wish I could push my kid on a swing in a public park and it not be weird, you know? ... "People go, well that's the trade-off. But my kids have not signed up to that."

Mercer Superannuation has issued a warning to its 1.6 million customers to be aware of the break-ins. 'We do not know the exact number of members that may have been impacted,' Mercer said on its website. 'We can confirm that the potential impact is limited to members who sent mail via post to our Melbourne GPO box in July and have not received an acknowledgment from us.' 'It's possible that letters containing members' personal or financial information were stolen.' The break-ins occurred between July 6 and 17 from the post office boxes in the Melbourne GPO in Bourke St, Melbourne. On three separate occasions, thieves forcibly gained access to a back-of-house area used for sorting mail however during a fourth attempt, were deterred after increased security measures were introduced. The offenders left the premises immediately. Australia Post reported each break-in resulted in significant damage to the facility, which has now been repaired. But authorities have been unable to confirm what was taken. Australia Post say they have notified potentially affected customers of the unauthorised access to their PO Boxes but that since unlike parcels, letters are not tracked, they are unable to determine which specific mail items or PO Boxes may have been targeted. ‘Remain vigilant' of apartment thefts in summer months, say EPS
Police are trying to identify the two thieves seen here on security footage on July 7, 2025. (Edmonton Police Service) A string of thefts in an apartment complex involving glue on door frames have Edmonton Police Service (EPS) warning residents to be aware of break-ins while away for the summer season. On July 7, apartment security at a complex near 106 Street and 97 Avenue reported that several units had been broken into and various items stolen. The two thieves were seen in surveillance footage. EPS said in a release that they used glue to mark the door frames of units they were targeting to gauge which ones were left unoccupied for longer amounts of time. Police have not yet identified the thieves, who were last seen in the area from midnight to 1 a.m. on July 1. In the meantime, police ask residents to 'remain vigilant' when leaving their property for extended periods of time. This can mean having a trusted friend, family member or neighbour check on your place while you're away and securing valuables. More tips on how to prevent break-ins can be found on the EPS website here. Anyone who has information about the current suspects can contact EPS at 780-423-4567 or submit anonymously to Crime Stoppers online or at 1-800-222-8477.

Dartmouth, N.S., residents concerned about spate of vehicle break-ins
Daniel Glasner said there's been an uptick in crime in his Dartmouth, N.S., neighbourhood. (Source: Jonathan MacInnis/CTV News Atlantic) Some people living in a Dartmouth, N.S., neighbourhood say a recent crime wave has disturbed their usually quiet area. Daniel Glasner, who has lived in the neighbourhood for four years, says it's worse when the sun goes down. 'Between the hours of two and four in the morning, people are running roughshod over this neighborhood,' he said. Glasner says there has been an uptick in thefts and attempted break-ins of everything from backyard sheds to vehicles. His truck has been targeted multiple times. One time someone used a stick to poke through the top of a window he left slightly open and unlocked the door. 'An electric chainsaw, and some tools. Just little things, change, anything of value,' he said. 'It takes away my sense of safety in the neighborhood,' said Darlene Cossaboom, who moved to the area a few years ago. 'I locked my doors, lock my windows. Make sure that before I do retire for the night that it is done.' Statistics released by the Halifax Regional Police show thefts from vehicles is on the rise across the municipality. From January to May 2025, police received 584 reports of thefts from motor vehicles. In Dartmouth in 2023, 642 reports were received. There was a bit of a dip to 534 in 2024 and so far this year, police have received 276 calls about someone stealing from a vehicle. 'This is going to come to a head. People are going to be in a situation where they're going to defend their property and somebody's going to get hurt. Whether it's somebody trying to break into something or a homeowner coming out and trying to defend their property, it's going to come to a head,' said Glasner, who would like to see stepped up patrols late at night and early in the morning. Baltimore Police seeking identities after dozens of cars and businesses vandalized in Federal Hill
Baltimore police are seeking the public's help in identifying several individuals in connection to a string of crimes that happened earlier this month in Federal Hill. The crimes occurred on Sunday, July 13, between the hours of 3:30 a.m. to 5:55 a.m., police said. A photo posted to social media Monday by the Baltimore Police Department showed several individuals walking in what appears to be a store. Anyone with information is urged to contact Southern District detectives at 410-396-2499. Surveillance video from the Federal Hill Cleaners on Charles Street showed the front glass door being shattered on July 13. Ham Kim, the owner of the cleaners, said the vandalism happened around 4:15 a.m. Footage showed three teens walking by the business and attempting to yank on the locked door. One teen kicked in the door, shattering the glass. The Papa John's location on South Hanover Street and Facci Ristorante on Light Street got hit by burglars on Saturday morning, a day prior. Police said 35 cars were broken into sometime between the evening of Saturday, July 12, and Sunday morning. The break-ins happened in the unit block and 200 block of East Montgomery Street, the 600 block of South Charles Street, and the 600 block of Washington Boulevard near Camden Yards. On Monday morning, repairs were still being made to cars. Several vehicles parked on the road had garbage bags taped over the broken windows. The wave of vandalism and car break-ins left residents calling for a stronger public safety response. Some residents said that crime had become commonplace in the Federal Hill community. "A number of my neighbors on this block have been victims of violent crime, particularly physical assault," Jen Covino, Public Safety Chair of the Federal Hill Neighborhood Association, said. "We've had armed robberies happen on the street right in front of my former house over there." Ham Kim, a Federal Hill business owner, told WJZ more police patrols are needed in the city.
