Collision at Guelph car meet results in drunk driving charge
An 18-year-old is facing multiple charges stemming from a collision at a Guelph car meet. The gathering was held Friday in a parking lot along Stone Road West. Around 9:20 p.m., Guelph Police said a man began to 'aggressively' rev the engine of his Honda Civic. He then shifted the vehicle into drive, 'causing him to lose control and sideswipe another vehicle.' Police said officers found the 18-year-old man at his home. They felt he showed signs of impairment, so he was given a roadside breath test, which he failed. The man was taken to the police station where further tests were conducted. Police said they showed the man had more than the legal amount of alcohol in his system. He was charged with impaired driving, careless driving, stunt driving and having alcohol in his system as a novice driver. His licence was also suspended for 90 days, while his vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

Fresh warnings over car meets blighting Alderley Edge as police urge 'think again'
Fresh warnings have been issued over car meets blighting Alderley Edge with police urging those participating to 'think again'. It was earlier this year that launched a crackdown on illegal car meets following a number of unauthorised events in Wilmslow, Macclesfield and Alderley Edge, where high-powered vehicles had been 'drag' racing. Hundreds of people are known to usually attend the events in some of Cheshire most affluent areas - but they have previously sparked concern from residents because of the noise of revving engines and parking, with cars mounted pavements, roundabouts and grass verges. READ MORE: Police investigate after man found unresponsive in Stockport READ MORE: Teenagers jailed following violent incident on Salford street Join the Manchester Evening News WhatsApp group HERE The force said that over recent days, officers have been made aware of another unauthorised car meet in Alderley Edge which was planned for this weekend. It has not been approved by the local authority or Cheshire Police. A dispersal order was put in place across Alderley Edge in March this year, to crack down on the drivers causing a nuisance in the area and potential anti-social behaviour. And senior officers previously told the M.E.N that some motorists involved in car meets across Cheshire and Greater Manchester were 'playing up' and performing dangerous stunts 'for likes on social media'. "Previous events have attracted hundreds of people, many in high powered motor vehicles driving dangerously causing excessive noise and anti-social behaviour, all of which have caused alarm and distress to local residents," a Cheshire Police spokesperson said. Issuing a warning, Chief Inspector Zoe Bowden, head of Macclesfield Local Policing Unit, said: 'We are aware of reports circulating on social media regarding a potential car meet in Alderley Edge this weekend and I would urge anyone planning to attend to think again. 'The event has not been authorised by ourselves, or Cheshire East Council, and therefore it will be classed as an illegal car meet. 'Patrols will be stepped up across the area and robust action against anyone who is found to break the law. 'Our message is clear – anti-social behaviour and anti-social use of vehicles will not be tolerated.' --- Day in day out, our reporters in the Manchester Evening News newsroom bring you remarkable stories from all aspects of Mancunian life. This Influencer Had Her Camaro ZL1 Stolen Ahead of Diecast Release Event
On Saturday afternoon, Autumn Spooner, an Arizona-based content creator, was scheduled to attend a car meet to promote her custom diecast of her beloved, metallic purple-wrapped 2018 Camaro ZL1. Unfortunately, the night before the meet at 4:19 PST, her car was stolen. Spooner was boarding her flight when she got the news that her car had been stolen after being dropped off in Costa Mesa, California. She shared the news with her followers across her social media channels. "My Camaro got stolen today," Spooner said. "I was on the flight to come here and pick it up, and as I was boarding my plane, I got a call that my Camaro was stolen, which definitely was not the call I wanted to get, ever. That's all I know as of right now." Several photos and videos have been shared with Spooner and authorities of the car being driven around Southern California, unwrapped to make it harder to track down. While the thieves took the time to unwrap the car, remove the plates, the dash cam, and the OnStar. They kept her Instagram handle displayed. "You guys have seen it out on the road a few times," Spooner said. "Last I knew, it was unwrapped; they literally took the whole wrap off. No plate on it, but they did leave my Instagram handle. Love that for me." The event, Homecoming 3, was intended to be a celebration of the car that got Spooner into auto content creation, as she unveiled a 1:24-scale die-cast of her car for purchase through Jada Toys. Jada Toys shared on Facebook, offering condolences to Spooner and providing information about the theft for those in the area. We want to send our deepest apologies to [Autumn Spooner], as we regret to inform everyone that her Camaro was stolen in Costa Mesa, California, during our setup for Homecoming 3. Spooner shared an update on her Instagram story that she might skip the event as she continues to deal with the aftermath of her stolen vehicle. Dispersal order in place to stop illegal car meet
A dispersal order has been put in place on two roads in a county to try and stop an unlicensed car meet taking place. Bedfordshire Police said the action had been taken to stop antisocial behaviour after a meeting was posted online, with the order covering the Woodside Link in Houghton Regis and the A6 Barton-le-Clay bypass. It would be in place until 20:00 BST on Sunday. The force said there would be a "heightened police presence within Bedfordshire, as well as coordination with local CCTV operators, to deal with those who wish to cause unnecessary disruption". It comes after there were calls for speed cameras to be installed in the area to deter car meets. The force said: "If any vehicles are used in a manner causing alarm, distress, annoyance to members of the public or likely to endanger the safety to members of the public, we will deal with the driver/car accordingly and robustly." Dispersal orders give officers the power to order a group of two or more people to leave an area if they are suspected of committing, or likely to commit, a criminal offence or antisocial behaviour.
