CTV News07-07-2025
An 18-year-old is facing multiple charges stemming from a collision at a Guelph car meet.
The gathering was held Friday in a parking lot along Stone Road West.
Around 9:20 p.m., Guelph Police said a man began to 'aggressively' rev the engine of his Honda Civic. He then shifted the vehicle into drive, 'causing him to lose control and sideswipe another vehicle.'
Police said officers found the 18-year-old man at his home. They felt he showed signs of impairment, so he was given a roadside breath test, which he failed.
The man was taken to the police station where further tests were conducted.
Police said they showed the man had more than the legal amount of alcohol in his system.
He was charged with impaired driving, careless driving, stunt driving and having alcohol in his system as a novice driver.
His licence was also suspended for 90 days, while his vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
