Is NBA 2K26 cross-platform?

Football fans have the Madden games, baseball fans have MLB The Show, and basketball fans wait every year for the new NBA 2K entry. This year, we have NBA 2K26 with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Angel Reese, and Carmelo Anthony each appearing as the cover athlete on the various editions of the game. All the classic modes are back, including MyCAREER, MyTeam, MyNBA, The W, and more, but the big question is if you can play online with friends on other platforms like you can with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4, or is it limited like Madden NFL 26? Before you rush the hoop and grab NBA 2K26, I'm calling a timeout to fill you in on all the cross-platform details. Is NBA 2K26 cross-platform? According to the official NBA 2K26 website, this entry will not have full crossplay support. This year's entry is coming out on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, Switch 2, and PC, but not all these platforms will support crossplay. The only two platforms that will feature crossplay are PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. Previous-gen systems and PC players, it seems, will only be able to play against other players on those specific platforms. While it is somewhat understandable to keep previous-gen systems isolated from current-gen, leaving PC out of crossplay is an odd omission that will unnecessarily split the playerbase. Recommended Videos In terms of cross-progression, players will be able to transfer their MyTeam progress and VC Wallet within the same console family, ie. PS4 players can move their data to PS5 and Xbox One up to Xbox Series X/S. There is no option to move data between platforms as a whole, so if you do decide later on to pick the game up on a different console or switch to PC, you will need to start from scratch.

‘Rematch' Devs Are Trying To Get Crossplay Working ASAP, Apologize For It Not Being There At Launch

Improving Rematch's slide tackle is on the to-do list for Sloclap. But first, bug fixes and ... More crossplay. Rematch, the skill-based action soccer game from Absolver and Sifu studio Sloclap, is off to a strong start. At the time of writing, it has reached more than 92,000 concurrent players on Steam alone on its launch day. It's also available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, as well as Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. But there's a significant feature missing from the game as things stand: crossplay. Sloclap said in a statement that it did its "utmost" to have crossplay ready by launch, but it ran into "unforeseen technical complexities which prevented us from having this feature ready in time." The studio added that it should have been more forthcoming about crossplay not being ready in time for launch. It apologized "for the inconvenience and frustration it caused to some of our players." Sloclap has been working hard to update and optimize Rematch – it deployed two patches during the early access period. But alongside fixing bugs, Sloclap says "crossplay is our absolute highest priority." The studio said: FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder "We're committed to delivering this feature swiftly, and we'll share a more precise deadline as soon as possible. We already have a basic working version from a technical standpoint, but we need to implement the relevant interfaces, before debugging and polishing it, and finally passing console certifications successfully – all this takes time but we are doing our best to move forward quickly." Here's hoping that's resolved soon. In fairness, Sloclap has a small team and this is the first time it's offering crossplay in one of its games, so this is a new challenge for it to solve. There are other, perhaps more pressing technical issues that Sloclap is trying to resolve such as the lag, stuttering and frame drops that some players are dealing with. "Our team is currently implementing performance optimizations and settings adjustments to significantly improve stability," the studio says. "Likewise, we are continuously working on improving server stability to bring you a smoother gameplay experience across the board." Along with those problems, Sloclap is tackling issues including server and client desync, crashes, game freezes after goals and menu lockouts. It plans to deploy regular hotfixes and patches in the coming weeks to attempt to resolve those, all the while adding more features. Fixing technical problems should be the top priority for Rematch, but there are some interesting features and updates in the pipeline. In the coming months, Sloclap plans to improve slide tackles, goalkeeper mechanics, dribbling and wall contact (like in Rocket League, the ball doesn't go out of bounds and is kept in play by a barrier). Test servers are on the way to help Sloclap trial new features and other updates in a live environment. Tournament and club creation systems are in the pipeline, along with more social features and a leaderboard system for players above Elite ranking. You can expect some updates for casual play too, such as more quick play modes and AI-controlled bots for you to practice with. Again, Sloclap isn't a huge studio, so it'll be quite some time before it can add all of these. You might have to wait until next year for some of them. But here's hoping the studio can at least take care of the technical issues as soon as possible. There's clearly a large audience for Rematch, and it would be nice to have a viable alternative for the likes of EA Sports FC without game-breaking bugs getting in the way. ESO Developers Are Working On ‘Underlying Tech' For Possible Crossplay

Elder Scrolls Online Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) is over a decade old at this point and remains to be one of the most popular and widely played MMORPGs on the market across PC/Mac, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. However, one major caveat that holds it back from being even bigger is the complete lack of crossplay and cross-progression. That means if you want to play Elder Scrolls Online with your friends, you must be on the same platform ecosystem as them to make it happen. PC players cannot play with PlayStation players, who cannot play with Xbox players, and so on. That also goes for your own accounts as well. If you're playing on PC and then a friend starts playing on Xbox, you can't use the same character at all. During a podcast recording with Greg Miller's Kinda Funny, as reported by PCGamesN, Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) game director Rich Lambert and ZeniMax Online Studios head Matt Firor talk about the studio's plans for the game's future. Of course, one of the biggest questions posed is whether or not crossplay is ever coming. "Anything is possible," says Lambert. "We're working on doing some underlying tech changes that would make it possible," adds Firor. 'We know how important it is. Starting work on this game in 2007, [we] FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder Elder Scrolls Online, like any other MMO, is the type of game many players spend hundreds of even thousands of hours playing over the course of several years, so asking them to abandon an account with that type of legacy just to play with someone on another platform is a very big ask. Hopefully, a remedy is finally on the way in the form of crossplay. Over six years ago, I wrote about ESO's lack of crossplay and now we live in an era where games like New World, Throne and Liberty, and the upcoming Chrono Odyssey all have crossplay as a core part of their marketing appeal. For all intents and purposes, Elder Scrolls Online is getting left behind in this regard. In the meantime, there's a lot to look forward to for the rest of this year with ESO. In June, the Return of the Worm Cult kicks off as a continuation of the original main storyline alongside more Content Pass changes and the introduction of subclassing, which will dramatically change the way players build out their characters. For a decade-old MMO, those are some pretty massive, sweeping changes so it's great to see the folks at ZeniMax Online Studios willing to take big risks with ESO even though they could have chosen to continue playing it safe.

Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. goes multiplatform with crossplay and more

Sunday's Virtua Fighter Spring Direct revealed a load of new information about upcoming games, including the as-yet-untitled Virtua Fighter 6 and Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. The biggest news? R.E.V.O. is coming to Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2, with full cross-play support and rollback netcode, although the team stayed quiet on exactly when it will release. According to Siji Aoki, the lead for legacy Virtua Fighter projects, 'I know we've kept you waiting, but our Steam release, Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O., is finally coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2!' This is something fans have requested since the game first launched. 'To make your gameplay experience even smoother, the rollback functionality used in the Steam version will be supported on all platforms.' Recommended Videos In addition to the announcement that Virtua Fighter 5 is coming to more platforms, the team also teased more information about Virtua Fighter 6 and revealed the return of beloved character Wolf Hawkfield, redesigned with a bushy, Ganondorf-like beard and covered in tats. As Hawkfield strolled onto the stage, the in-game announcer referred to his return from a 'controversial retirement.' 'In previous Virtua Fighter games, the backstories and motivations of the characters weren't well known,' says new Virtua Fighter Project Producer Riichiro Yamada. 'This is one of the major differences between the previous games and our new game. Playing the new game will give you a much better sense of who the characters are, including their backstories and personalities.' A behind-the-scenes look says the new Virtua Fighter project will borrow Ryu Ga Gatoku Studio's narrative prowess to flesh out the characters you know and love, including their origin stories. The studio is known for the Yakuza series, and the character designs for both new and returning characters will reflect elements of their backgrounds. The Direct gave no clear release date for either game, but it demonstrated that both are well into development. It's a tease, but all fans can do for now is be patient until more information (and hopefully a release date) is revealed.

Is Virtua Fighter 5 REVO cross-platform

In the pantheon of the best fighting games, Virtua Fighter has fallen out of the spotlight in recent years. Thankfully, the upcoming video game Virtua Fighter 6 is poised to bring the series back to its former glory, but before that, we got a new version of the previous latest entry called Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. While it isn't quite a remake, this latest version is the definitive way to play this technical fighter. That said, the audience for this series is still smaller than most, so your ability to get online matches might be a concern. If you're curious whether or not this new version was given cross-platform support to increase the pool of players you can compete against, we'll give you the full breakdown. Is Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O cross-platform? The answer to whether or not Virtua Fighter 5 is cross-platform is two-fold. As of the time of this writing, no, Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O has no cross-platform functionality, but that is because the game is currently only available on PC. That said, during the Virtua Fighter Spring Direct, we learned that not only is the game finally coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and Switch 2, but it will launch with full crossplay support between all platforms. The official statement from Project Producer Seiji Aoiki reads: 'I know we've kept you waiting, our Steam release Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. is finally coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2! Since Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O.'s launch, we've heard your requests for multiplatform support via the official Virtua Fighter Discord and other channels. We on the development team want to give users on all platforms the opportunity to enjoy Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O., so we are happy to bring you this announcement. Also, in bringing this title to multiple platforms, we're planning to include cross-play support. And to make your cross-play experience even smoother, the rollback functionality used in the Steam version will be supported on all platforms. We're going to include even more content to make this much more than a simple port, which we'll tell you about in future updates.' Recommended Videos The only thing left up in the air is when the game will hit consoles. No release date was given, but as soon as the game does come to these additional platforms, we at least know crossplay will be there.
